How to find a Jewellery Manufacturer/Supplier and if they're a good fit for you?

- Part 2: The BIG QUESTION almost all jewelry designers struggle with when they're ready to either outsource their production (whether locally or overseas) or if they just want to start buying in-house or ready made jewelry! I want to help share some useful resources/links (see far below) to help make that process of finding a potential jewelry supplier a little easier as well as how you can access whether that manufacture/supplier is a good fit for making your particular creative jewelry designs.
We get new jewelry designers contacting us every week so I also want to share some of the important questions which they commonly ask us before we start working together - hopefully you find that helpful too!
I know it can be a daunting challenge, but just take your time, do your research and good luck! :-)

Amazing video! Thank you for sharing. I noticed that one detail was missing: Another important question is the minimum purchase / manufacturing quantity. Especially when you are a small label that’s just starting out

just like to find out once you send your design to the manufacture to see whether they can make it or not, do you ask them to sign anything at beginning stage due to copy rights .thanks
Hi Jay. It depends on you and if you want the manufacturer to sign an NDA upfront before you release any designs to them or wait until they can assess the designs and once they confirm they can produce it then ask them for an NDA. I've had designers send us designs in their first email/contact and others ask for an NDA first. It all depends on you. Personally, I think you should ask for an NDA before you send any designs their way due to the fact that the designs could still in theory be "copied" even if they turn around and say they can't help with producing your design. We always have an NDA ready to sign/date upfront so I would hope other suppliers has theirs on hand too. I hope that helps :-) Kim

Wow, thinking for this video I been trying to create my jewelry line but the fear of manufacturers stealing my design is at its high. I live in New York City do you know any manufacturer that custom design jewelry?
Hi Carline thank you for your kind words. I believe there are a few in Manhattan but I don't know of any particular ones in NYC I'm afraid. When we exhibited at the MJSA at the Javits Centre pre Covid I know customers I met there had their jewellery casted in NY but they didn't provide any names. Make sure you have a legally binding contract signed that's legally binding within your state.

Could you clarify, the 4 jewelry names you gave in video, professional jewelers, bench peg, etc. I went to their websites are the custom jewelry manufacturers.. ? It seems like they are organizations ? Please clarify Dis not see where I can ask for custom jewelry pieces..?

Are you able to custom make & manufacture Silver jewelry in bulk?
Hello. Historically and presently we manufacture for larger wholesalers so producing in bulk (hundred per design) is easy and within our current capability. We've only reduced the quantities the last decade due to smaller jewellery brands approaching us so for them being able to order 20 pcs per design is attractive. Hope that helps. Kim

I'm afraid I don;t know any manufacturers in Australia per say, but I know based on speaking with our Australian and NZ customers that they tend to look at Thailand, Bali/Indonasia, Vietnam and China. Hope that helps a little.

Lots of helpful gems here, Kim - thanks for sharing! Curious to know if there are any jewelry manufacturers who specialize in breast milk keepsakes. Would love any feedback you're able to provide in pointing me in the right direction.
Very coincidental you ask, I was just reading an article about this. It's really big here in the UK. To be honest I only know of companies (see their websites below) that only work directly with the consumer - so they take the breastmilk and infuse it into the glass or resin and then sets into the jewellery peices. I would be interested to work with companies in terms of manufacturing the metal (silver/gold) peices but the preservation of the milk and the grinding it down part is going to be beyond what we're familiar with. We already work with customers who sets their own glass (ie ash keepsakes) or stones into the silver that we produce for them. I think it's a great idea and having two young kids I'm fully supportive of the breast milk keepsake and see it only expanding in the near future. x

You haven't provided your name here or on your RUclips page, so we can't cross reference to any emails.
