The physical abuse will build anger and resentment towards the abuser, but the wording and constant criticism will build doubt and a terrible self esteem in the abused.
I love this because Soldier Boy still isn’t a good guy. He’s not evil or anything, but he’s a straight up killer who’s taken out civilians as collateral damage and not thought twice about it. And yet he’s still Human. He’s not as shallow as we are at first lead to believe.
He’s not a good guy, he’s an asshole, but I think he isnt evil as well. He does kill civilians but it’s never intentional, and I think happens a lot less than the other supes.
I absolutely love 'Soldier Boy'. These characters are a lot deeper than people would believe. Soldier Boy and Billy Butcher's stories are very real. Young men have fathers like this.
You see, that's the major difference between him and other these modern villains. He is an asshole by nature, but remembers every bit of mistake and discipline he experienced in life.
Soldier Boy is the by far the best character in The Boys. All of his lines and scenes are iconic and equal parts funny and terrifying (like when he smoked MM’s tear gas grenade). He’s amazing.
Dude jensen is such a good actor its scary. In most characters i can see similarities with other characters from the same actor because theyre the same actor, but jensen makes me genuinely forget hes ever played any other character
"Said I was a disappointment" Ironic how he repeats this to homelander, so many well nuanced things to take away from this scene that plays so well into soldier boys character
@@tom_hurstIt was mid, i didn't like too much the characters, actually, i barely even remember their names. But well, it served well for the wait of the next season of The Boys.
Kind of ironic how Soldier Boy was being called a disappointment by his father and later went on to call Homelander a disappointment. To be fair, he was justified because Homelander is a manchild with a fragile ego. But it still shows how the cycle of abuse continues, even if you want to avoid repeating the same mistakes. Hits close to home for many people.
Its like I told my teachers..... It's not cheating, it's strategic positioning. Funny thing is when you find yourself an old ass man, it will be the 5 closest people to you that define what your success looks like. Sorry about the rabbit trail lol.
Little boys ALWAYS look up to their fathers….or whoever is their father figure! Most the men on earth, are just a nation of boys…. trying to live up to their dads expectations! This show brings that fact out in the open.
It’s almost like Captain America and Tony Stark combined into one but without the intelligence of stark or cap’s heart of gold. I feel like he became his dad when he told Homelander he’s a disappointment.
the only thing i don’t like about season 3 is how they killed him off too early, he carried the whole season in my opinion. and the way he died was bullshit, he was literally clapping almost every character in the show by himself.
while it’s pretty apparent that soldier boys father was a prick, I kinda agree with the sentiment that his son took a shortcut. Anyone can be a superhero in this world, provided you have the money and connections to get access to compound V. Clearly their family had both so it’s hard to disagree with him on this one.
In most of the quotes the villains aren’t right at all 😂. It’s more like that the ”heroes“ made mistakes big and small ones and the villains cry about it
its so weird because we get glimpses where he is almost like a normal person? where he sees what he does is wrong or atleast something close to it. but then he turns around and just doesnt care and goes to do bad stuff again
Then you’re a dumbass, not sure how the neglectful hateful father who never gave hid son a chance is someone you look up to, but ig some people are just pieces of shit
Soldier boy’s Dad ain’t wrong though. Based off this dialogue alone, it implies that Soldier Boy only achieved his status because of compound V giving him powers, not because of hard work.
His dad wanted him to grow, become respectable, strengthen his character, and earn his power. Instead, he rode on the coattails and work of others. Yes, he risked his life. But not in a way that earns anything, not causes him to grow at all. Because he thinks it's about power. But it's about being worthy of power
Soldier Boy's dad didn't approve of his son and called him disappointment Soldier Boy didn't approve his son, Homelander, and called him disappointment Guess you can call it family tradition now
Why are writers always making either numb skull dads or they're so abusive and evil and the moms are always more efficient and hard working and or the victim but either way soldier boy is badass
You know Butcher feels bad when he bothers to ask what happens next
Yup
Especially since Butcher's situation with a horrible dad wasn't much different.
This is male solidarity
😂
Butcher hated soldier boy but he related to him at that very point. Abusive father issues.
The physical abuse will build anger and resentment towards the abuser, but the wording and constant criticism will build doubt and a terrible self esteem in the abused.
Very true. But remember your not what the world defines who you are as a person , but who you choose to be. Your worth more than you know.
So basicly all them have daddy issues 😅
Indeed
Daddy wasn't there..... to take me to the fair
everybody does to some degree
@@LoganArredondo-l5p I disagree, my father raised me fine and I don't have "daddy" issues.

That’s true
I wouldn't say he doesn't think twice about it he apologized later for killing all those innocent people when he had his freak out

I absolutely love 'Soldier Boy'. These characters are a lot deeper than people would believe. Soldier Boy and Billy Butcher's stories are very real. Young men have fathers like this.
Standard dad dialogues
Classic emotional abuse
You see, that's the major difference between him and other these modern villains. He is an asshole by nature, but remembers every bit of mistake and discipline he experienced in life.
R.I.P HIS DAD! 😂
So much could have been avoided had a few fathers not treated their children like complete garbage.
Couldn't have picked a better actor
Soldier Boy is the by far the best character in The Boys. All of his lines and scenes are iconic and equal parts funny and terrifying (like when he smoked MM’s tear gas grenade). He’s amazing.
It's because he sees himself as a hero but is incompetent. His actually mentally tough just unaware that his ego causes problems.
Soldier boy and Butcher had some badass chemistry. It's sad we probably won't see that again
Hope he comes back as a good guy.
I would never say this type of stuff to my future children.
I've been messed up so bad, I'll never ever have children.
The fact that people idolize this guy shows how badly people need good role models. Dude had major daddy issues
And? Nobody is perfect🤷🏻♂️
@@andreb4168 Regardless, The proper influence can make a big difference.
Speaking from experience I see
I don't think people idolize Soldier Boy. He's just an interesting character and comes across a lot more down to Earth than the rest of the Supes.
This guy is a really good actor. I hope we see more of him in the future of the series
Dude jensen is such a good actor its scary. In most characters i can see similarities with other characters from the same actor because theyre the same actor, but jensen makes me genuinely forget hes ever played any other character
It's like his acting skill is so insane that two of his roles side by side almost look like a different person physically
My dumbass😅😅 thinking of Soulja boy the artist
😂😂😂We all did
"Said I was a disappointment"
Ironic how he repeats this to homelander, so many well nuanced things to take away from this scene that plays so well into soldier boys character
Told him the truth the saddest way possible 😢
Should have told him, real men don't cheat, they exercise their risks.
DEAN WINCHESTER got tired of Sam's bs and decided to became a superhero 😅😂
You can see the pain in his eyes
Dads got a point
Father is super egoistic
Damn one of the best actors of our generation!
It suprising after generational trauma, homelander became a somewhat messed up but slightly a decent dad
No he didn't
@TheEnigmaticBM39 considering he kill stormfront and his dad still accepted him
He made his son fly through the ceiling tho.
sorry but soldier boy is probably the least worse out of everyone on this show. Wish they make a spinoff of him instead of Gen V bullshit

That old man was right :

I can't believe how good jensen played soldier boy
Sooooo a corrupt captain America that love old ladys got it 😂
Wait wait 😂 what was that last part?
Lol Captain America's daddy wasn't rich😂 infact they never showed Steve's parents on the big screen did they?
Jensen eats and kills every scene he's in, both in live action and animated voice acting.
When you write a character to be everything you hate. And he ends up being the most human character on the show.
Ussssss Soldier Boy😭
Jeffery Dean Morgan needs a cameo here
Dean wouldn't have done that

Dad was right… rip mm fam
The bruises may heal, but the words cut deep.
Jensen was truly a great choice for the actor of this character, the similarity if him and Dean made it a logical choice.
Oh. So calling Homelander a "F*cking disappointment," has more meaning to S.B. Than just an insult.
And then later dropping the disappointment line on Homelander.
Jensen is the master of every role he lands💥
Dad ain't wrong.
Words hurt same as hands.
Soldier Boy is the most compelling character in the show. Homelander is a very close second. I hope SB comes back in this new season.

"Ive been dealing with years of unspoken emotional abuse from my father"
I’m mean he’s right. A screw up that gets put on a drug trial that takes no effort in his part and gets super powers is still a screw up
I have a feeling that he immediately got an aggressive "notification" when he cheated. And he knew right then that there was an "NDA".
He told his life in just some seconds 😢😢
If his dad didn't own those steel mills he wouldn't have those wealthy golf buddies to get Soldier Boy into those v trials oddly enough.
Well, he's not wrong. That IS cheating.
Man the comments and the video for that matter make me rly interested in the lore. If only the comics werent the way they were
Shows how important Fatherhood is. It can either create Saints, or Devils.
Homelander and soldier boy actually are almost the EXACT same, juat their personalities
The more things change the more they stay the same.
Life is a game of survival. There is no cheating
