This is the seventh video in a series that was created to help people who have been scammed, and who are having a hard time getting over it. Healing from being scammed is difficult and many people beat themselves up for a long time afterwards.
If you are telling yourself that you are stupid and feeling a lot of shame, you are NOT alone. These are the most common and most difficult parts of the psychological recovery after you have been scammed.
In these videos, which are based on my book (linked below), you will find coping strategies and ways to find healing for yourself.

Thank you Cathy, been scammed is a nightmare that is soooo hard go through……mentally and financially……..God!!! Thanks for your video I still cry everyday alone and financially struggling…..been victim of scam like a punishment……that can’t tell others…..
It is so so difficult and a lot of your words sure did capture that - calling it a nightmare and a punishment, it absolutely feels like that some of the time. I hope the things I say in these videos are helpful to you, more and more over time!

Yes! I’ve been altered! I feel beyond stupid very dumb!!!
Oh it sure does change aspects of your identity, doesn't it!? The way you see yourself is changed now, and this brings two things to mind that I don't believe I included in the video. One is that it is important to remember not to make this so big in how you see yourself, that it becomes too much of your identity. This was one situation in your entire life and does not define who you are. The second thing is that along with seeing yourself and who you are differently now, this is likely to change again as you heal. What I've witnessed is that people begin to use the experience to help others avoid it, or they begin to focus less on what happened and more on what they can do now to feel empowered, or take care of themselves. I hope your healing continues and you start to feel better soon.
I got scammed yesterday for $3500. I was just getting to pay off all my debts and credit cards and now this happens. I am so hurt and sad, I dont even know how to explain what I feel. It is so hard to build but the scary part is that everything can be messed up in a blink of an eye.
I am really trying to find the strenght I need to recover from this, and start again. Omg😭
Oh no, I am so sad to hear that this happened to you. I hope you get some ideas from the videos on self-care, healing, and moving past what has happened. Scammers suck. A lot.
