This is the eighth video in a series that was created to help people who have been scammed, and who are having a hard time getting over it. Healing from being scammed is difficult and many people beat themselves up for a long time afterwards.
If you are telling yourself that you are stupid and feeling a lot of shame, you are NOT alone. These are the most common and most difficult parts of the psychological recovery after you have been scammed.
In these videos, which are based on my book (linked below), you will find coping strategies and ways to find healing for yourself.
This video is about self-care and how important that is in the healing process.

I was just scammed out of $12,000, they used AI to impersonate a loved one and knew information about us. Your videos are helping me. Scamming is getting more sophisticated and more sinister.
I am so sorry to hear that this happened to you. You are right, they are getting more and more sophisticated and sinister. They are very persistent, and will try any way they can think of to steal from people. I am glad you found my videos, and I hope they have been helpful to you.
Got very close to being scammed. It was a few days ago and shook me to the core. Still recovering from it and they didn’t even get the money. I know I would be in rougher shape if they had gotten the money. I’m so sorry this happens to people. It’s demoralizing and yes, talking about it helps. I also have written down the entire episode and posted warnings on our community forum and FB. Am writing a letter to the Editor, as well. I think trying to help others not fall for it is my new goal. And often, it isn’t even anything we did. It’s something that was totally done TO US. Just a thought.
I am glad to hear that you were able to escape and so many things you said are true! It is demoralizing and is done TO people. The victim-blaming makes it worse and I hope that my work makes a dent in that part. Thanks for commenting!

@createlifepaths Thankyou I lost My house money was left homeless but git money back from bank so I Thsmk God. But I was foolish because He came back saying He hated himself He wanted money payment yo a house his story to inherit is late father's will which was suppose to be alot but money didn't. Make enough for house as He hadn't paid his said half becsuse was in love because We bern tslking so long He talked another 2 years and then asked on more Money I knew his photos where stolen but He had answer for that it wad his personal business account knew was all lies but was so bonded by how He was at the beginning I told him no more money if He really loved Me He wouldn't put Ne threw trauma agsin at times before He be distant and I started to do same last few mths just decorated the health issues I have and knew I at to.let go I told him this and of course I got all tve gaslighting on Me and Ge deleted Me on Ig says He's deleted Skype but his name still there she's never had My new phone no I'm glad it was him that deleted it shows Me the real him I'm grateful for Youre videos as someone said get Therspy but nhs waiting list to long and private therapy very expensive I'm going on a solo Holiday for 3 weeks to relax
Another warning, everyone. Please be cautious about anyone commenting here and claiming to be able to recover money for you. No one can do that except law enforcement, the courts, etc. Money recovery is a second attempt at scamming people who were already scammed once. There are a huge number of links that will pop up on Google for you and other pages too, and I've had a number of people add comments here and on the other videos. Today is my birthday and yesterday I was scammed. I feel so bad, they robbed all my money. But the worst thing for me is not the money, is how I feel with myself. This is the worst birthday ever. 😢

i just got scammed, it cost me my whole life-saving, even though i'm still a student, it is not a big figure, but im so sad, and disappointed at myself, i told my mom about this and broke her heart. i have watched the first episode but the feelings of being gullible, dumb still haunts me, i dont think that i am ok, i cant focus on anything, i have to grind again... im really lost at this point.
I am so sorry to hear that this happened to you. The amount of money doesn't matter so much does it?? The awful way it feels when you realize it is still really awful. Please give yourself some time, compassion, and patience. I hope you start feeling better about yourself soon!
I can't sleep for the "I've been so stupid" there were oppertunity to divert and I'm angry at myself and so embarrassed and ashamed I felt steamrolled
