I have been watching your channel for a few years now but usually don’t comment. We live in Texas but built a home in Leyte about 5 years ago (my wife has been to our house there but I have not seen it in person yet). We hope to move there soon. Glad you finally moved there. We enjoy your channel.
We arrived on Nov 8, so we are approaching two months. It is really nice here! We have a lot of house work going on also, more than I expected. But it is nice to see it all coming together. Wish we had a car, it is certainly on our list of things to get. Our Honda Click gets us around, but only locally. Have fun up there in you section of the country!!
Best decision I ever made was leaving uk to live in philippines, wish I could of done it earlier...keep smiling mr marker and a healthy, prosperous 2025 to you and your family...
It’s a hole different life when you are in the Philippines and committed to it . 😊been following you since the beginning take care and happy new year 🎊 🎈
Love the choir, 'Bataan Choral Artists. Just touched my heart with Christmas memories of our home on Cebu when the church groups came to our house Christmas 2007/2008 my first Christmas in the Phils.I was touched, I cried Scott. They don't do that here in my country. Belated compliments of the season to you all. Bob n Lina. NZ.
Congratulations Scott. Finally made it back here in the Philippines. I’ve been back here also for 6 months now. Happy holidays to you and your family. I’m heading to Clark picnic area with my family later on. I’ll be driving from capas tarlac to Clark. Take care .
I’ve been watching your channel for several years now and this year also spent Christmas in The Philippines. Been here in Angeles since November 28th and enjoying the holidays with family and friends. Will be here though January until we head back to the states. Hope you enjoy your move and look forward to seeing more videos. Have a Happy New Year.
The biggest advantage in the Philippines 🇵🇭 English is the second language, and Filipino singers are the best...Landers BGC had good choral group singers every Christmas season.
I been watching your chanel too and i comment very few times. Iam from Texas and my wife from san jose apunan pampanga. And yes i love it when iam there especially on Christmas Love the Bataan choir ❤🎉
Truly amazing how time flies by even when you're "retired" but still staying busy with life. We're those actual Christmas carolers in your neighborhood in the Philippines!!!!!!! We don't get those anymore in the US.
Good. Love this positive vibe of blog. Time to show more your everyday activities, adventures and that HOLLYWOOD CELEBRITY look and handsomeness. Enjoy the attention and admiration being pogiest. Time to embrace too the culture and often complexity of a FILIPINO family and people. Merry Christmas
New subscriber here! Love your content.. I came back to the Philippines for good after being away for 2 years.. Worst decision being away from family. Glad to be back!
I spent xmas in quezon city back in 2014. As you say it is different from the west and quite a rich experience. We had groups of carol singers come to our house too. Did you give them a little something for their performance? That seems to be what is expected there. Two years for us until we do what you have just done. We too have a house and car there and I am keenly following your new life in the phils.
It takes time to settle in, I hope you will just love your new home. We will travel to Ormoc in February and stay until June. I am retiring on December 31st
Those carolers were pretty dang good. If you are not aware, Subic now has a Texas Roadhouse in the Harbor point mall, as well as we have had one in SM Clark for a while now. Texas Joes was good when we didn't have Roadhouse, now I stick to Roadhouse
I have a house there in olongapo, There are nice restraunts espeacially in the sm midtown and ayala harbor point mall, We dont go in the water there in the freeport zone because shit river feeds into the bay on the north and south end of the island. Even baretto and subic town i wouldnt go in the water , locals do , We go out farther atleast to camayan cove at subic safari , only problem they are more expensive and no restraunts nearby except the hotel ,they are more expensive than the cheap hotels in the freeport area.
You’re on Philippine time now 😂. While I work for UPS I’ll not get to spend Christmas there but November wouldn’t be out of the question at some point in time in the future. The carolers are fantastic!! Steaks can’t be beat!! Loos good Scott y’all enjoy and stay safe as always God bless y’all
Texas Joe’s is an Oasis in a desert of food in Olongapo. Especially the tenderloin beef and baked potato. When you get the opportunity travel to Nuvali as they have. Western restaurants and German pubs too….,
We have grown kids and some grandchildren, so I don't know if we will ever move completely there because of our children and grandchildren here. But you never know.
Yes I am. 4 months to go. I was there for a month in February and loved it, didn’t get cold once. Take that back we going back to Dauin from a dive trip, the boat was splashing water and got wind chill factor 😱.
how long would you say it took from the time you fully committed to going there to the time you actually arrived there permanently ? I'm sure there was lots to do before you arrived there so I'm trying to gauge how long it would take me to do all those things after I fully commit to doing it. I would like to buy a home that is already turn-key built up just so I don't have to deal with the builders while still here in the U.S.
We bought our home in 2019 and have been doing renovations and preparing ever since. We had a five year plan and just recently finished paying off the house before we moved here.
It's so funny I live in the province and there has to have been 200 people coming around sometimes two sometimes five singing and they will stand there and sing until you come out and give them money they definitely know where the Expats live lol I love it it's in good spirit and it's my favorite time of year ChristmasI always give them at least 100 pesos and they are very happy and thankful good people
U will have 2000 people next year if you really gave 100 pesos to each caroler....and u will be known year round as the rich foreigner who gives money to everyone... When in the Philippines i have helped out many people there financially, but i never anymore give money at my residence and never outside of stores or restaurants i frequent. My experience has been that i am overwhelmed, like can't get out of a store or to your car, as the numbers of beggars grows exponentially if i get to be known as the generous foreigner in specific locations. Also had multiple experiences with badjao women with young children almost hit by cars and trucks as they ran across busy roadways when they saw a "rich" foreigner on my afternoon walks... After a couple weeks of walking past every day and giving nothing....it became much safer for the babies they were carrying as they stopped running across busy traffic to ask me for money ...
I see you don't go by NOT living close to your married into Family, Many PPl say live anywhere from several hours away to others Say to even live on a different Island
@@Marker44Same here... Love living near my wife's family. They have been very helpful and supportive. We talk and visit each other several times a week. It's fantastic and to be honest, completely different from the relationship with my own family back in the States.
So glad you are happy about being there. I absolutely loved the choir! I love their rendition of the classic songs. I would love seeing them perform.

Usually those Carolers get a tip. How do you handle it when there are 20 of them?
We give a nice tip for a large group. They were very entertaining!
They won't complain in anyway. But $20 is not bad at all.

They've actually got a Texas Roadhouse now in Ayala Mall in sbma now as well. I think supporting the local business is better though.
@ Texas Roadhouse in SM Santa Rosa now too!
Thank you for the recommendation!
We have grown kids and some grandchildren, so I don't know if we will ever move completely there because of our children and grandchildren here. But you never know.

I'm curious is there a Ferry that Goes from Balanga to Manila across Manila Bay Kuya?
The ferry goes to Mariveles from Manila. There was a ferry that went to Orion but its no longer running.
Be prepaired you love paying for everything
The carolers were amazing!
Yes I agree!
New to the channel.did u meet your wife there or in the states?
Cecile and I met online and it has worked out very well.
What city do you live in? Looks nice there.
Balanga, Bataan
Mr. Marker, I am American and love cooker weather, can you suggest an area that is not so hot?
Anywhere that is a high elevation. Such as Baguio or Tagaytay.
1:58 Christmas carolers in the Philippines are now on a higher level.
Absolutely!
Dang that was crazy cool
Wow, those carol singers deserved a little jingle jangle for that performance! Loved it. Happy New Year.
Happy New Year to you too!

Having been to the Philippines several dozen times it’s very frustrating when you vloggers don’t say what city you are in .
We have stated many times where we are in the Philippines.
You need to stop repeating yourself!!
Sorry, sorry
