Aluminum critical speed is actually slightly better than steel, because the strength to weight ratio is better. Steel is stronger, but the extra weight still wants to jump rope more.
I have one on my 05 Dodge 3500 4 door and long bed 4x4 .I got mine from west Texas Dodge drive shaft and it has been in for 5 yrs and is so sweet no vibrations at 800 bucks it’s 5” diameter it’s a beast .
Looks nice the factory GM shafts are a little on the thinner side. We see them come in twisted up pretty frequently. But usually it’s guys who have big wheels and tires with the power turned up towing a large 5th wheel. We make replacements shafts out of 5 inch by .120 wall tubing. But they are around 1100 dollars when it all said and done with new u joints and the transmission slip yoke.
When I saw the thumbnail I said christ! Aluminum is not what I expected, but like you said they did the engineering on it so give er hell.

How's it holding up almost a year later? I need to do this on my 2006 LBZ dually
Its fantastic. Not a single problem, as I would expect from an OEM part.

I hope it holds up for me. Its just an old LB7 so its not a super power house but I do work the hell out of it
Why would I feel the yoke moving in and out when I let off the brakes from complete stop ??? That’s what it feels like anyway
Im really leaning towards a one piece on my LLY to get rid of the extra failure points
Im super happy with this. No looking back
6:05 best part
Heh heh, yeah yeah!
I put one in now I can feel like the yoke moving in n out when I let off the brakes from complete stop
Id be checking leaf spring bushings and shackles. I dont have this at all
Haha that's a lot cheaper than the custom aluminum shaft I had to get for the Beretta
Im glad I built temporary shaft for my beretta... as I have changed my engine position 3 times already
@@spankranchgarage haha I'm locked in with that $700 jobber in there! Fits good though, even if the weight distribution is less than ideal
Any issues?
Nope works great
