Thanks for the tutorial. My work truck is trashed and I’m starting spring cleaning today. Lots and lots of diamond on her.
You can do it!
Evan outstanding episode. Well alot more episodes to watch. These are GREAT.
Glad you enjoy them. Thanks for watching.
Such a great vide0 Mr Evan
Had to come watch it again until the end for all the useful info, thanks a lot man! Keep on shining
Appreciate you watching to the end. Thank you for your support!
Really enjoy your videos , got my first Zephyr pads and accessories today and a 6000 rpm variable speed Makita 7 inch polisher as well , pretty stoked to try to do some awesome work such as yourself, your videos sure help Happy new years to u and family ...cheers
Thanks for watching and I am glad to help. Thank you for watching.
You make it look so easy
20 years of practice I should make it look easy. LOL Done a ton of these throughout the years.
So the brown pad and a brown block yes like the compound and then do you have a polis for it and what color pad and block
Thanks man I’ve been thinking of asking you to do this video for a while now ! Can’t wait to get my buff out and try it on my rear panel thanks again and keep up good work
Hope you enjoy it!
I never thought Id be so confused on how to polish diamong plate...I have too many methods to choose from. Do I use the angel grinder with the cotton wheel? Do I use the smaller cotton wheel on a die grinder? Do I use the dual action angle polisher with the wool pad? Do I use noxxon? Do I use some super duper fancy bottle of stuff? Do I use Dialux (I have the green and gray which I know ill work wonders on Aluminum)....
Yes..too many options and one broken back that makes me want to do the best job, the fastest. And your method seemed like its the winner.
PS. Im polishing the diamond plate on a Matco Custom (the ones with the diamond plate on the front of the drawers. Nice used box that needs to shine)
This is the method we use on all diamond plate in my shop. Super simple setup and easy to do. goshineon.com 2 step aluminum polish kit.
@@EvanStegerMetalPolishing Well...I tried this method, using the rouge, and followed up with the vert de paris (green), and it was amazing...unti.l my cheap cotton wheel decided it wasnt going to spin lol...I ended up using a power ball ....but in the end it came out great. Of course I ordered the replacement cottonwheel and it comes when Im done LOL.
Evan i tryed that today and it work out great for me
Glad to hear it worked. Thank you for watching.
I wonder is this would work on my headlights ?
Hey man, any ideas on diamonds plate that’s really pitted
Found it thanks Evan!!!!
Thank you for watching.
That was helpful, thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for watching and supporting.
Why would someone not pay the extra money for a show shine finish ? You literally did that in about 2 mins I can’t imagine it takes much longer to give it the show shine. Keep up the great work, I’ll never understand cheap skates. Your work is great thanks for posting this
Show polish takes a ton more time and doesn’t last as long.
so next step would be the green compound with yellow buff?
im looking to do this to my truck so im thinking your 2 step aluminium metal kit is best for this ? also got tanks, wheels, and big diamond headache rack
Yes or white buff on a variable with green rouge also works.
What does it produce do you use for the polisher, I take zephyr and I don't have the same results as you and never so fast
goshineon.com is what I use.
Yes sir, that is where I started getting my heavy cutting and specialty supplies
You make that look easy!
This year makes 20 years polishing... I should make it look pretty easy. LOL Thank you for watching.
One thousandth like!!!!
Thank you for watching. Appreciate you.
On aluminum that's not to tarnished that doesn't need alot of cut and buffing I use brasso and flitz it gives a good mirror polish
To each their own way. Shine on.
Even. Thank you. Appreciate it. I do
Purusha Onezeroeight no problem. Thanks for watching.
What polishing bar do you use?
goshineon.com
Thanks and what polishing head? I tried a wool buff and it didn’t work well
What is the rpm that you're using on the buffer?
6000 RPM
@ Evan steger hello evan im starting to polish, would you please show how u would recommend to aproach the cutting. and tips not to leave so much of the brown bar on the piece your working on and how much pressure to hold against the pice your working on thanks
These videos are now out and available on my channel. Thanks for the great ideas.
Great video, what RPM are you applying the rouge with?
6000 RPM
I have light gouges on my diamond plate. What can i do to lessen the gouge appearance?
Use a stiff red buff and just cut hard on it.
I need to clean up my grandpa 1978 FLC 112, so much aluminum
You can do it.
Can u do this with real ruff diamond plate
You can but real rough stuff doesn't shine great. It just turns like a dull gray color.
@@EvanStegerMetalPolishing I've seen some use a scuff pads then a orange wheel
@@Kid617 You surely can but it still just comes out shiny gray usually.
you mentioned non synthetic carpeting for applying the polish....why is that and where to get it from?
Greg Beksel synthetic carpet will scratch. The synthetic is plastic.
That was amazing. Great stuff
Thank you!
Excelente trabajo amigo yo hago el mismo trabajo

Hey Even, the step boxes on my W9 are diamond plate and I don’t have enough room to hit the diamond plate from all angles. I ended up with a lot of compound left on the plate. Is there any easy way to get all this compound off? It looks awful.
microfiber and liquid aluminum polish can help, or use glass cleaner
Hand polish works well. I use a cotton Terry applicator and a cotton Terry towel to remove it. I have a how to blend tops of tanks video. The same process applies.
I run a peterbilt dump truck and the front of the box is pitted. Do you recommend sanding it down? I usually sand everything thats needs it but I wasnt shure on the battey box since it's kinda thin metal to start with. What would you do?
jordan palmer I would recommend sanding it for sure.
awesome work like always
Thank you sir. Truly appreciate that.
what do you do when you get one with heavy oxidization and pitting? tried cutting with a heavy wheel and super heavy compound, then to heavy, then a softer wheel and so on and it just keeps getting buildup of polish on it and stays dark gray, tried sanding 320-600-800 to help with that and did work for some pitting but no where near just lightly oxidized aluminum. it was acid washed first to remove the oxidation. any ideas? i know wheels, compound, how much is used is all hard to go by but i’ve done tanks, steps, wheels, everything else just fine and with a mirror finish. using a dewalt at 3600rpm when using heavy cut.
I don't personally do heavily oxidized diamond plate. Too much time and wasted products for not great results. Hope this makes sense.
@@EvanStegerMetalPolishing unfortunately it does, we don’t make any promises other than it’ll be better than it was on pitted stuff and non cared for diamond plate
Looking into getting into polishing for extra cash on the side what's the best product I can buy?
goshineon.com/shop sells everything I use.
Hey evan, I've been working on my diamond plate toolbox and I can't get that mirror finish. Box is 13 yrs old. I've used the orange and yellow buffs. Should I try sanding? Or flannel buff with purple rouge?
Thanks,
Ryan
Sometimes diamond plate is too far gone to get that perfect mirror. Sanding usually doesn’t do much on diamond plate.
@@EvanStegerMetalPolishing Thanks for the tip. The videos you provide are great
@No Name Yep, that's what he does.
Hello Evan I have a W900 86"studio what would it cost if I can get up to your shop to pull wheels sand show polished sand shop polish both 150 tanks diamond plate lid on step box diamond plate on 42 inch box top and headache rack with smooth border and diamond plate center. If you do chrome and stainless as well have plenty of that. I would normally do it in my shop but my ex cost me that and everything else about 5 years ago then year after were done cost me $56,500.00 and just can't find good polisher that knows what they are doing anywhere on my runs.
Does it have to be sanded? Most show polishes we do don’t get sanded. Shoot pics to my cell number and I’ll get you an estimate.
Beuriful polish, i am polish too
You are gonna do great.
great job looks amazing
Thank you. Much appreciated.
What type of makita grinder is that and where can I pick up similar pads.
Chris Padilla the Makita grinder is ga7021 from Home Depot. I sell all the polishing pads on goshineon.com/shop

That is a true story.
Oooooh Yeah

What is the reason for the piece of block thing you kept touching the wire wheel with just curious
Tow Jack the compound I’m putting on the polishing pad is the lubricant and polish.
