Just a tip for anyone who does this on their own. Use a good thick masking tape to cover your wheel studs and nuts. This combined with some patience will prevent you from getting into them with the buffer and compound. They are made from a treated material and will rust horribly if you get into them with the buffer, that would defeat the purpose of trying to make your ride look pretty. Most pros are careful with this, or in this case did some work by hand since hand polishing isn’t aggressive enough to get into the wheel studs and nuts. Another tip would be to put a light coat of clear paint on the hub. It won’t damage the hub and it will help prevent any corrosion between the hub and a chrome hub cover that’s metal. That’s a nice and simple polish job that looks great.
I drove a semi for 20 yrs and I always kept my trucks spotless inside and out and I can tell you, aint nothing easy when it comes to keeping the shine😂
I had some wool pads and buffing pads left over from when I used to do cars and they worked just fine. Cleaned wheel. Buffed with cutting compound. Then polished with wool pad and polish compound. Turned out perfect. My pads Took much longer then I think your pads take.
Looks awesome man you cut a little differently than I do couple more steps you do I usually just use an 8500 rpm dealt grinder buffer with a 7 in yellow pad and brown bar and if the customer wants it super nice then I'll blue bar it as well looks good thoe I look forward to trying out some Renegade products for sure thoe that liquid polish seemed to work pretty nice
If u ever make it too Moncton, New Brunswick Canada stop in at shinny trucks they can have you truck done in less then a day. Those guys know what they are doing.
I definatly find it interesting how i get the same results doing it the opposite way you do and other guys how ever i do a different amount of work depending on how good or bad the wheel is and i use 8,500 rpm dewalt and 6,000 rpm makita cause i cannot find the variable speed grinders anywhere locally
20 ton bottle Jack is $35 at harbor freight tools. You've got a Great reputation, we'd like to get a load to your area so we can have you polish on ours too. Do we need an appointment, and do you apply a clear coat to help the polish last? Thanks, C U Soon
David Smith..... the oval was originally designed for Pete's... but can be used on KW's, Macks, etc.... just be sure that whatever truck (class 7 or 8 Only) you want to mount them on, has the correct size "pilot hub" and wheel stud spacing to match the wheels.

good morning, where I can get the orange oval, what you put the broken hoop, but yellow, or if you sell them let me know which page I can enter to buy them, thanks
If I need to watch a video, I probably do not know what I am doing. Having said that, can you please explain all the different colors of polish, and the different colors of buff and air wave or whatever you are saying. "gonna finish with a yellow polish and the red wave, and a blue polish and a green cutter, and a purple polish and white buffer but do not go over 4000 rpm." Please explain the parts of the kit and what you are talking about.
Hey man great vid, I bought that makita too based on the quality of your work. But don't worry, I know that a good paint brush is only half of it, the artist behind it is the rest. Just one question though, why do you use a respirator mask for the second compound, does it make fine particulates or something dangerous like a fume to breathe? I only ask because I am a truck driver myself by trade and I'm just getting into the polish game, wanna make sure I'm starting out with the right equipment and propper safety gear.
I recently started polishing my wheels. I used the brown rouge and then the green chrome rouge. But when polishing I don't get the mirror finish. It has a lot of back stuff on the wheel. Do I need to sand the wheel? Am I doing something wrong. After your first cut you already has a mirror shine but it didnt work that way for me.
He's polishing a polished wheel. Yes yours needs sanded it sounds like. Probably best to take it to somewhere with a vis machine, it will cost a good bit but once the machine has done it's job maintaining is pretty easy.
Great job and very informative! I like the product. Can you tell me what brand seat with the 4 casters on it that you were sitting on through the video? It appears to be good quality and curious about it.
9 times out of 10 it is missed spots. I am making a video soon on what it looks like and how to get rid of them. Usually it is pressure and overlap issue.
I was like damn this guy loves getting dirty! But then I remembered how bad I looked after power washing the engine bay on my eagle bus for the first time I n 20 years.
