    I've found to work with MOST people (not all). These exercises help with lower back stiffness and hip mobility. The hip pain is located around the piriformis and upper gluteal muscles when walking and running. The lower back is stiff and painful with bending over and sitting.

    [Performance Place website low back article excerpt] In this article (updated in 2021), I will be covering right and left side lower back pain. At the end of the article, it also covers the baffling situation of when your lower back pain CHANGES SIDES.
    I’ll also be covering possible diagnoses, causes, and treatment options for single-sided lower back pain. This article will not cover sciatica in-depth (pain past the knee), but you can read all about that in one of my other articles here.
    I’m Sebastian.
    I’ve had lower right back pain and have been able to recover from it entirely. When I was 15, I was told I would need back surgery to reduce my pain so I could play baseball again.
    Long story short, I did not require surgery, injections, or medication to return to baseball. I am 38 now and play baseball two days a week, lift weights, sprint, and have no issues with my lower back holding me back from doing what I want.
    I’m telling you my story of recovery to let you know that you can recover as well (if you find the right person to help you as I did).
    Hopefully, this article gives you better information to discuss with your sports chiropractor, physiotherapist, physical therapist, personal training, orthopedic or medical doctor.
    Not everyone will get back to feeling 100%. As a general rule, the longer you’ve had it, the more challenging it can be. But this does not mean it’s impossible to feel physically capable again.
    Let’s get on to the article.
    Cause #1: Driving With Lower Right Back Pain
    Driving your car is the #1 cause of single-sided lower back pain in people over 25.
    If you are living in the US, you may experience more right-side low back pain when driving.
    If you are in Europe, you may experience more pain in the lower left back while driving.
    Why?
    It has to do with the gas pedal.
    As we discuss single-sided low back pain in this article, it may be helpful first to understand that not all low back pain is created equally.
    Different causes for back pain have other mechanics, positions, and postures that will increase or decrease your pain.
    I say this because if you’re in the US and you experience left low back pain while driving, that’s common as well. Keep reading this article.
    As we venture into other causes of 1 sided low back pain, you’ll start to realize that positions and postures of your whole spine, arms, and legs matter. What you are doing with your body daily matters.
    Now that you understand that postures and positions matter, you should realize that you also have some control over your condition. As I describe these mechanics, consider reversing them and seeing if it helps tomorrow. Not all ergonomic corrections yield immediate relief.
    Back to driving…
    Suppose you are in the US, lower right back pain while driving occurs as you tension the sciatic nerve with every up and down on the gas pedal. This tends to happen more in stop-and-go traffic. You may think it is the stress of the traffic, but that may not be so!
    Multiple spinal nerve roots create your sciatic nerve that exits from tiny holes in your spine called intervertebral foramen. Your low back nerves could be subjected to pressure around this location, creating nerve swelling, making lower back stiffness and pain.
    When you pressure a lumbar spinal nerve (L4, L5, or S1), typically stretching of the sciatic nerve will induce your lower back pain.
    When you pressure a lumbar spinal nerve (L4, L5, or S1), typically stretching of the sciatic nerve will induce your lower back pain.
    If this is you, simply move your seat closer to your steering wheel and increase the lumbar support on your chair (if you have one).
    If you don’t have built-in lumbar support, roll up a towel and place it behind your lower back to let your lower back relax.
    Moving your car seat forward allows for more knee bend (sciatic nerve slackening) and less pain.
    Pressure on a spinal nerve root (not the sciatic nerve itself) creates the situation where your lower back pain is only on one side.

    I’m so glad I discovered this. I’m a visiting Hospice nurse = lots of driving, and then either leaning over or sitting still for lengths of time. And ever since I’ve moved from Corona to Joshua Tree area, I’m driving close to 250 to 300 miles in a single day ... increasing lower back and hip pain, not to mention neck soreness. These exercises are so relaxing and effective - I especially like the 4th one. I feel so balanced and upright afterwards. I will do these every day and look forward to more of your videos - Thank you!!

    Glad that I found your channel. I am in immense pain as I hurt my back at the gym while dead lifting. A click and twitch and shit my left lower back is in pain. Seen doctor, diagnosed as paraspinal muscle spasm with restricted rom. Advised physiotherapy. Will try these stretches but the pain is overwhelming. Hope the pain will subside and I'll be back at the gym soon.

    Lol chicken wing your leg off 😂😂😂 seriously though, this was such a helpful video! I have a fracture in my lower spine and some slipped disc that press against my sciatica and this really helped. So I had difficulty at first, but I kept doing them every day and and actually got noticeable results. Less pain and tightness and eventually I was able to do more exercises! The ball exercise was brilliant and you took time to explain everything and how you to make sure your doing the exercises correctly. Thank you so very much !❤️

      @@Performance-Place-chiropractor no need to share your video is top on the list. Share might help but some but those that are really suffering will get here anyways. I have picked up two of those exercises, I guess they worked in my case and can be done on my bed itself (bed itself is that reason for the pains) I don't remember what was the last game I played other than all the games on my PlayStation. Along with these exercises I am throwing away the games now because as I grow older it may increase. Thanks mate I will play football again just need some serious players :(

    Shattered hip shattered pelvis 42 months ago doc say I am a miracle still struggle but your stretches really help. Fully functional still can't run a mile pain free though. Your showing all the areas were my difficulties are thanks so much

    There are days that I feel like I have knots so big in my glutes they feel like softballs, keep at it people the knots will eventually go away, been at it 42 months unreal journey of pain and misery, however there is light at the end of tunnel. Listen to your therapist and you can defy the odds and you must be will to pay the price. God bless never give and hard work and consistency will bring great results. Results will be slow coming, but one day you'll realize your daily suffering has diminished greatly. Then a big smile will come across your face. NEVER GIVE

    Thank you for this video, I wish you are closer. Would you recommend to do the hip extension with both legs on the heel ( without the ball)? is one leg at the time better than if you do it with both legs?

    I wish I would have discovered your videos earlier but am still glad I found them now. I have so much pain in my lower back, abdominals and hips. Am having hard time doing anything these days, Drs. have their own diagnosis and theories. I feel like like a lab rat since they send me back and forth taking so much blood to analyze. I took so many OTC meds not even prescription and now they say my liver and gallbladder are messed up.

    After driving for 500km in a single strech, no stops due to corona, I started having this lower back pain since 1month. Doing this excersise gave me instant relief from the rubery feel on my lower back and buttocks stuffiness and pain. I'm bookmarking this video

    I’m gonna try some of these. The areas you’ve pointed out for pain( side of hip and lower back) I’ve been having really bad bad pain to where it feels stiff and it’s affected simple things as using the bathroom, carrying heavy items, getting in/out of car. Not sure if it’s from me doing Amazon and Shipt to where the constant bending and lifting of heavy items has taken a toll but the pain the pain is terrible. I can’t even stoop down to get something from the bottom shelf let alone struggle just to slightly bend to get something out of my trunk. Will try these exercises for a week and update

      Was able to do all the stretches without pain but the last one with the ball was way too painful. Even without the ball and trying it lift my hip up off the ground the side of my left hip had the shooting pain. But the other exercises helped with it being more easier to put on socks

    Sebastian, do you mind if I ask which lower back structure is being affected in my far lower back when I do the Cook Hip Lift on one side? That one movement fixes everything I suffer from. And it’s just the tiniest of “pops!” I’d love to know what that is that’s popping! Stationary squats also help, but this is a silver bullet for me. Thanks for what y’all do.

    I hurt myself 2 days ago lifting heavy soil bags. Totally my fault...I have been extremely sore. It hurts to get up and down. I watched your video and did some reps and OH MY Gawd... I can bend at the waist again. 😂

      Pinching feels like a pinch in the front of the hip. The range you can pull is dependent on what you feel. There is not 100% correct way to do this exercise
