- Magnus Carlsen took on Hikaru Nakamura in the 3rd round of the Casablanca Chess Variant at the Morocco Chess Week 2024. The players were given a position, turns out to be one from the Karpov vs Kasparov, World Championship Matches 1985. Magnus did remember the game vaguely. They had to play from move no.11. Check out how two of the greats of the present era fared in a position that was played by the past greats.

Magnus played this game almost flawlessly
Always dies against hikaru. Meanwhile, he plays meh against others. Just goes to show, he means business with hikaru and considers him worthy.
What a lovely architecture that Morocco has
I have visited Morocco. Marrakesh is amazing for architecture also
it's called zalij in morrocan language
It's moroccan zallij
Sudah ku duga pasti ada yang terpakau dengan desain dan arsitektur bangunannya❤
Was so lovely to see Magnus rearranging the pieces after the game, reminded me of someone who takes inspiration from him, Gukesh :)
This love of chess makes him best player
Gukesh does not take inspiration from magnus, this is the first time Magnus has put the pieces back while Gukesh has formed the habit since his childhood after being taught by his teacher to respect the board. Take your mouth of Magnus's dick
He almost always rearranges the pieces after the game, regardless of the result
Moroccan architecture is so beautiful 😍
Love this format, creative, thanks for the recap
What a man!!! Magnus Carlsen 🦾🦾
As a moroccan I'm really happy to see these legends of the game in my country . The moonish architecture is mind blowing , everything is carved by hand the same way it's been done since medieval times .the amount of complex shapes those craftsmen manage to achieve is out of this world.
What a beautiful scenic place, intricate carvings. So many distractions…not so. Chess rules!!!
what a superb historic building
Bro your content and efforts are just brilliant
More tournaments should be creative like this
I love the Idea, the Spirit of this Variant!!
comparison of two chess eras is an awesome idea.
Boss level magnus
good event, i think they need to further investigate some of the choices so theres no boring positions that are drawish. thank you for the commentry!
Thanks Sagar ,your videos are always a source of pleasure! Am an adult beginner who got a lot from your down to earth way of communicating chess ideas.please continue 🙂🙏
Wow what a venue!
Love this format, it's the same they do with engines: don't let them start the game or they'll make a draw, so give them an interesting starting position to work with
It was a great variant
Wow magnus lovely player of this lovely game
Beautiful Casablanca
Superb architecture work 💖💥
I loathe opening theory so enjoy this format, and very much love Fischer Random.
Great game by magnus!
1:06 Magnus always shakes his hands standing ❤
Love the format.. maybe it favours the creative players.
Wow
Magnus is another planet
1:36 Hikaru Should file a patent on this expression.
😂😂
Commentator shah ❌ architect shah ✅
❤❤❤
i m from Morocco.
That long word "cheeeecckk" made me laugh 😂😂 overall good game
Hikaru always try to surprise Magnus with weird moves to somehow get him out of preparation. But Magnus doesn't rely on preparations much he instead uses his brain instead and always spends more minutes in the first moves. Hikaru should just play normal chess and see where it leads him. That bishop move instead of pawn move was just him overthinking and giving the game away.
Prep???
It is said that Magnus remembers every historical game by heart. So Hikaru might have played with that in mind @@dadaoluwasijibomi7129
I think hikaru forget line of game of kasparo vs karpov...
man I love Indian commentators
#المغرب ❤

Welcome to Morocco
Paln magnus and gukesh bana raha raha he most game 😊dekh lejie.... planning karke.... checkmate ka end game pe...middle game pe...Nakamura ko pata nay chala but..Mera checkmate hoi raha he means...😊
Now I am convinced that actually Magnus is the GOAT. Other players can survive against him only because of engines. The moment they are out of memorized lines, they are doomed
The whole environment change when magnus calcium arrives
Carlsen*
Magnesium Calcium arrives.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
If i you Hikaru, magnus said..nothing i can do too lol
hello! GM everyone
WFM to you!
I like to attack like magnus
Hope so you defend like him as well.
Why Hikaru resign?
I think Nakamura King Ke1 ->Safe king or not ???
Anand lost in 10 moves
Si no, me paraba a saludar...reto de mi.mama.
Nakamura is very weak against Carlsen. He can't play well🫢
Hikaru can’t beat magnus last 3 games uploaded
