This was an awesome display of their strengths . Magnus showed that he can bamboozle his opponents even when he has a lost position but Hikaru countered by showing he could flag anyone including Magnus in an equal position .
So that’s Hikaru’s strength? Lmao
Dude is without a Queen falling into prep down 5 mins and the other guy’s best shot is flagging lol what a rivalry 🙃
@@polasoliman3955Hikaru is a better player in my opinion. Just overall.
I think Hikaru’s strength is playing high accuracy quickly and getting into complicated positions where he can out calculate his opponents. Flagging is just a result of his opponents getting outplayed and them needing to think.
@@polasoliman3955 it's part of chess lmao. Idk why you're so pressed about it, it's not like you can do any better than hikaru did against the greatest chess player of all time.
Hikaru watching that clock like a hawk lmao
Bro snitched immediately when it hit 0:00, no hate though I'd have done the same. Still sad to see such an amazing comeback by Magnus go to waste though. Would've been an all-time comeback win.
hawk tuah❤❤
hawk tuah
Waiting for Hikaru's recap with the 'welcome back everyone' any moment now!
Hikaru gets extremely chuffed when he wins, cant contain his smile and I wouldnt have it any other way.
to todaaaaays video
.... Todaaaaaay's video! ...
Hey now lol 😂
@@wimhof420Bruhuhu he's happy when he wins
Magnus came back without a queen. Bro proved why he's #1
Not necessarily a queen just an exchange. Only a point of material
hikaru just blundered
Hikaru blunder, literally all the time he was winnig
@@awishisaheartyourdreammake9222 huh? The Queen literally isn't on the board buddy. That's playing and coming back without a Queen. It's not about the points. It's a bout the piece and its power over the board.
Proved he lost..
these two are geniuses but what i liked the most in a long time was seeing them both smile in the end! its how anything should end
Well said.
Magnus also pull UNO reverse but Hikaru has another UNO card on his sleeve as well.
Magnus tried playing his UNO reverse card, but HIKARU ALREADY PLAYED THE LAST CARD!
@@SandbagX wtf are you two talking about
They talking about "time" which can not be calculated by computer.
Anna gets all prophetic at 1:00.
IKR
Umm yes , stockfish vs AlphaZero in real life
El Magnito Vs Sensei Hikaru
no, stockfish can win both of them playing on the same side together and no clock.
@@ericastier1646OMG WE ALL DIDNT KNOW THAT! THANKS FOR TELLING US SUCH A GREAT INFORMATION!
@@ericastier1646look at this dudes comment 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@ericastier1646 yes really thanks man
You got to love how they both got super upset with themselves on how they played but then said whatever after the game with a smile remembering its just a fun game between these two masters
Kramnik has left the chat...
xD
interesting
I love that even the very best player, the greatest of all time, pauses to replace the pieces on the board at the end.
Being alive to witness these two battling head to head through their primes is such a treat. It’s the Chess equivalent of Ronaldo/Messi. I’m glad Magnus has decided to continue his career on his own terms and Hikaru is peaking. We’re simply lucky to be able to watch this rivalry as it unfolds.
i don’t see nothing..even tho Hikaru beats Magnus at rare occasions in classical, the gap is huge in my opinion
@@toufiquefr_ that's why assh0lz have opinions too
magnus is clearly better
@@ConnorWood-i5xmessi is clearly better, what's your point?
Pineapple guy lost his significant advantage but was able to flag him anyway.
Please get Daniel Naroditsky to commentate this game!
Definitely top choice as commentator in late game situation
best commentator lol
@@Deymetreyhave u heard Peter leko commentate
Note: naka did apologise after winning like this.
He was winning on the board outplaying magnus but magnugoat found a comeback- difficult to hold but probably a draw and thats why naka felt bad for him for flagging. And no its not dirty its time usage and no increment. Gg both legends
when did he apologize?
@@gloriawu1306 He said "sorry" at the very end
lol he didn’t find a comeback. Hikaru blundered. It was absolute domination by Hikaru. But he did his usual Magnus thing in the end game.
It was increment after move 40
If only every game could be this interesting, chess will overtake all sports in viewership
Most people (myself included) are too dumb to understand whats even happening in the end game 😅
@@nmalele0909 I think it's a matter of skill and knowledge more than a matter of intelligence. So it could be learned.
@@nmalele0909Learn then
@@intotheunknown21Chess has absolutely ZERO to do with Intelligence. Anyone can learn and get to an Advanced level at least
@@MasterInHD It takes an average mind to learn and appreciate the game to a solid level and be competitive. It takes a gifted one to get to the top or even close to it. These guys see the board in like common people can't and never \/\/ill.
I’m surprised Hikaru was able to secretly install ceiling Stockfish before the tournament began
i believe Hickaru's potential.. he is one of the few to possibly defeat carlsen in any time control. Only he shifted to shorter time control in the past few years. Now he is back at longer time control..lets see if he will pursue again the world championship
nahh the gap is still huge in my opinion..but yes Naka is progressive rapidly..
Explosion of a game
Is this rule that loser gets the pieces over the right places? 😂
No
Magnus did it even when he won last time.
It's considered polite to rearrange the pieces after a game has ended. Normally the loser storms out and the winner (if polite) rearranges them. Magnus has the good habit of doing it more often than not, even on the losing side.
Hikaru vs cagnus marlsen what a game !!!!!!!!
OhmedMahsen
It's always in Hikaru's head. Every single time. He will never beat Magnus until he doesn't know he's playing Magnus.
Crazy how everyone is butt licking Magnus but not appreciating Hikaru awesome play
bro he came back without a queen against a GM ( u try that) obvs that's gonna get some praise
@@yikes3336 He played natural moves.
@@the_lava_wielder6996 like I said, u try to come back w no queen against a 2800 and get back to me
@@the_lava_wielder6996He made a comeback only because he’s Magnus hes the GOAT..But Yes Its not that easy to do such stuff..Hikarus growth in classical from these recent months is rapid and brilliant.
@@yikes3336he had compensation, some say a pawn one square from promoting is worth a rook or even a queen also Magnus had a rook and knight supporting it and more pieces.
Hikaru was winning the game most of the time, also he used his time perfectly. Well deserved win, I never knew you can beat Carlsen in armageddon!
it was just memorized line
@@hossainzunaid3960 Yes so what?
Hikaru deserved the win today because he was winning most of the time, Also he was +4 which was a resignable position but yeah it's magnus he will use his "Magnus-effect". Hikaru's accuracy was more better than magnus and magnus was using too much of his time. If you think losing on time isn't one of the parts of the game, then you should give each player's unlimited amount of time.
That's where classical chess comes in lol.
14:08 This is what we call the Magnus Effect, bro was ~5 min up in time, in a completely winning position, still got brainfucked 😂😂
getting flagged on time is the worst feeling when you're winning
Magnus wasn't winning.
winning?
He was winning. He can force a draw with the knight rook. and forcing draw means black wins in this mode.
@@AbviiXBLhe's not wrong tho, the position is dead draw and both players know it. Magnus only needs to draw to win.
An unstoppable force vs unmovable object
Hikraru after the game flys faster than my sister money
THE GOATS
A game with these two is always a nail biter
I was supposed to be watching Hikaru vs Magnus super early before Gotham uploads but it looks like he already has one right now!
The ending is one of the best I've seen hahaha
What a match lmao
1second increment is obviously stupid, because it takes more than one second to move and press the clock
@13:40 g3, "human move" is where my heart stopped. Magnus' pd2 forced Hikaru to look for a tough line that would avoid giving the game back to Magnus!
Hikaru just didn't want to win him in poor condition
When Hikaru looks to the ceiling, you know he is watching the live feed of Stockfish up there. Hikaru had it setup at home and liked it so much he requested playing venues add it... What do you know... He can't help but admire that view...
Its so funny to me, how they react after the game. Like ''It is what it is, yeah, later g''
Incredible, these guys are monsters.
When Freddi Krueger has nightmares it starts with "weeelcome back everybody, in todaaays video" and Nakamura making his signature grin :D
This is the first time i've watched a live match of chess and this being the first is VERY entertaining
despite of loosing the game , magnus still managed to put back the pieces into the board. thats the real goat!!
well that was fun gg's gentlemen
That lady resetting was ready to leave
Let's do the procedure
so this is like how hikaru premoved his opening on the actual board game!
Chess of our time. Epic moment.
I love the game anaylsis key, with the blue and orange arrows :)
This game will go down in history. What an amazing game.
Classico of chess.
Minute 16 29, you know Hikaru is happy
Fantastic game. I’ve tried to watch some of the classical matches but two hours on the clock is a snooze fest. The future of chess is the time pressure.
Hikaru vs Magnus a tale as old as time another great match to watch
Hikaru say nah I'd win 😂
classic hikaru relying on flagging instead of closing a game
It doesn't get better than this. What a game. There aren't no other 2 players that can bring such greatness on a chessboard. Magnus = GOAT 1
Hikaru = GOAT 2
Battle between two champions
Thanks for the fast upload.
Serious dominantion by Hikaru for more than 80% of the video
Insane comeback my Magnus Carlsen
Funny ending because Magnus flagged
This is why I love watching these 2 go at it just epic game play great job gentlemen👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
What a game! Watched it without enginebar or commentators.
Magnus got completly outplayed in the opening but then made it as hard as it could be for hikaru. Traps to spot and hard moves to find everywhere. But Hikaru did an insane job solving every riddle while also advancing forwards, move by move. Just a few accurate moves more and hikaru would have done it. but then he blunders and magnus got in an endgame, wich looks like its a draw but you also know, if black isnt carefull and atleast some precise, he could easly lose. And the only one who can win there is white. But a few moves later, Magnus ran out of time.
Just insane.
Damn, what a game. I could feel Magnus' frustration at the end, ha.
Flashbacks from his game againts Grischuk
Hikaru!!! Magnus is still the best chess player in the world, but that doesn't mean he can always beat Hikaru, not by a longshot.
Almost always, yes
This is blitz, not the actual chess. It's still 14:1 for Magnus.
@@anjanieko702 Not even that. He's still significantly worse than Magnus, even in blitz.
@@anjanieko702 0 blitz championship won cope
Hikaru Is the Goat of online chess.
What a game! Very entertaining Armageddon game by the top players in the world. So many twists and turns… First Magnus fell for the poisoned central pawn trap leading to a losing position. Then Hikaru being distracted by the black knight and central passed pawn failed to find the winning continuation, and shockingly returned the queen plus material advantage leading to a possible drawn endgame (win for Magnus). During the complicated fracas, Magnus failed to watch the clock ending up losing on time. 😂
Kramnik did the procedures on both of th3m
That was a great win. The material time won.
That was beautifully rough to watch jeez 😂
I thought winner should arrange the table back?
How did hikaru miss king f1 I don’t understand how that is even possible it’s such a an obvious move to make….
Can someone explain to me at 14:18 why Hikaru doesn't just take the knight with his queen, and instead trades by going for pawn?
Nvm now that I play I get it 😂
@@bkenny5761 I dont get it, could you explain?
@@Dm16509if he takes the rook, the knight can play F2 to fork the king and queen
Until getting the Magnus queen, Hikaru played in Tal-ish manner. The game of this mellinum so far!
Hikaru > Carlsen
We called it a material time advantage"
Well, turns out Magnus is human after all, lol.
This is my dream game for the world championships
Only clock could have saved Hikaru😂😂😂😂
ur acting like u can beat hikaru
I bet Levy came up with the title of this video
Kramnik did the procedure to both of them. They were both approximately 93% accurate.
14:22 hikaru just gotta eat the rook so he could win
Nakaramura moved his queen instead of the king pretty stupid and almost lost
I’m very surprised Hikaru did not see Kf1

I still don’t see why Hikaru had to give up his queen by taking that pawn. Wouldn’t queen b5 have been better?
I knew hikaru will throw, but flagging was unexpected 😂😂😂😂

Proof Magnus isn't a cheater, he also loses games against the top players.
next year they should give black 30 more seconds or 1 more minute. if the greatest player can not make do with that time disadvantage, it's too severe
Hikaru dominou lindamente
They are both pretty good. I wonder how they'd do against pros
People say there's no luck in chess. This is a perfect example of Magnus getting lucky through a Hikaru blunder and then Hikaru getting lucky through Magnus moving too slow
both aren't down to luck. that's like saying a tennis player got lucky that his opponent played the ball into the net. apart from getting white or black, there is no luck involved.
It's both down to both players' skills. Luck is random, Hikaru's blunder isn't random but a result of failing to see the accurate move. Magnus moving too slow is a result of Hikaru's brilliant chess play up to that point where he blundered one single move in the end game.
can someone smarter than me explain why hikaru didnt take the rook on D4 with his queen at 14:18 please
Because there will be royal fork with Knight to e2 and that position can make more chance of carlsen to win in that position
or he could have just moved on with his queening, king to f2 after the fork could have prevented
