I have one, and I love it! Over the past 12 years I have owned two 5th gen 4Runners (most recent was a very modified 2019 TRD OR) for my recreation/off road adventure and camping (overlanding) rigs. I have also daily driven 2 Range Rovers over the past 8 years! It has made me always wish for a modern luxury midsized body-on-frame SUV, at least as off road capable as my previous 4Runners TRD OR, but with modern technology and luxury, more like Land Rover, as a sort fusion of the 2. Unfortunately the GX 460 is a dinosaur and lacks a rear locker, so there were no options (for me), until Lexus released this beautiful GX 550 Overtrail!😊. It is everything I have ever wanted!

@@jwz-y6w You have the Overtrail coming? It is everything I wanted in an SUV, now that I have a busy career and can only adventure on occasional weekends! If you intend to hit the trails, a slightly bigger tire will improve the 8.9 inch clearance.

@@lunamaria1048 Sure, only for light off-road. Waiting for others to modify the car to get better off-road capability.

As a 4Runner owner, I super sad to see that not a single new model will offer KDSS. That one feature, taught on highspeed, loose on low speed, was what sold me on the vehicle. I am very much torn on the idea of switching to a GX550. As other commenters mention, it would bring more towing, more comfort, more ... and yet an overall package that is in essence the same. The Canadian price is ... steep for a 4Runner lover.

eKDSS on the Land Cruiser (and the V6 twin turbo) would have me smitten.

I'm a former 4Runner owner. My Overtrail has everything the 4Runner had plus more power, towing, and it's way more comfortable. It's excellent off road in the National Forest, handles great on the highway, and never struggles in the beach sand. The mileage is deceiving if you follow the dash estimate. My dash says 17.4 mpg however manually calculating after fill ups I'm really getting 19.6 mpg. No Regrets. None!

I own one of these in the Luxury plus. So far it’s been worth every dollar of the 85 K purchase price.

Love my Overtrail +! I am getting 14 mpg and 270 miles range with full tank. Took it off road within the first two weeks. National forest trails. The power train and suspension are superior to the LC 250. I test drove both on the same day. I also canceled my Ineos Grenadier to buy the GX. I’m happy with that decision.

@@jwz-y6w 100 percent. I'd go with X5 xDrive40i over both Lexus and LR Defender 110 anytime. It's faster, more comfortable as a daily driver, has a better brand recognition than Lexus and has some limited off-road capabilities (which surprised me more than once). And let's be honest-most people are not buying an $80k luxury SUV for rock crawling or even overlanding. This is a heavily overpriced grocery getter with a plasticky interior. A BMW X5 xDrive 40i cost me brand spanking new $74k with all I need and a beautiful interior.

@@ajshapiro1269 I have driven Touareg for almost 10 years. Driving X5 is pretty much the same as driving Touareg. So I would not buy those similar cars like X5, GLE, Q7 or even Cayenne. BTW those are every nice daily driving cars.

@@jwz-y6w Comparing a VW with a BMW? I lived in Germany, and I loathe all VW products. Even Audis, which mostly share platforms with VW, are much better insulated and have different suspension tuning, which makes the driving experience vastly different from VW. Do not get me wrong-a VW is still a nice well-engineered car compared to most mass-market GM products. But BMW is on a different level. Fun fact, both BMW X5 and X7 share the platform with Rolls-Royce Cullinan and Phantom.
