Audio Technica AT-LP120XUSB - DETAILED SETUP & UNBOXING ~ Balancing Tone Arm ~

- Audio Technica AT-LP120XUSB-BZ (bronze finish) unboxing and detailed setup video.
First sorry for the improper terminology on a few of the parts, still trying to learn the proper names myself!!
How to carefully open the box, assemble the turntable, and balance the tone arm. Putting on the dust cover was by far the most simple step, the grooves will help you to easily distinguish how it goes in. I also highly recommend to be slow and careful with removing the TT and the pieces out of it's packaging, using scissors to cut the tape rather than tearing it off will be a much safer route to prevent any potential damage to your cartridge.

Thank you for putting together a video that completely addresses the setup of this turntable. Your attention to each detail is very much appreciated. It will help me immensely.
No problem thank you for the words :) Glad I can help!!
I bought this is 2021, it was the first thing I bought with my First paycheck. I wouldn’t change it with any other turntable, not only does it look beautiful but it sounds amazing aswell.
Couldn't agree more, I think for this price point it really doesn't get any better!!
I just purchased the Bronze edition, and I’ll be using this excellent set-up video when I put it together! Great job my man! ❤
Thanks Michael happy to help man! Hope you enjoy the new deck
I've had this model TT for close to 3 years now, absolutely love it. Best sounding TT and cartridge I've ever had over the years. Mine is all black, never seen the black and bronze before, that looks pretty damn cool....
Kudos to you young man for this greatly explained set up video. From someone who is not very proficient with this I am not ashamed to say that I played it back a few times and it worked out great. Thank you so very much Sir.
No problemo! Glad I can help, Happy New Year
Just fantastic, no frills. Perfectly explained for a novice. Thanks dude
Thanks Louis
Thank you mate honestly. From one anxiety ridden person with shakes from meds you helped me get through my setup with the most ease flawlessly. Thanks from Sydney Australia
Happy to help brother :) Hope you have yourself a great week dude! Enjoy that new record player, it's fantastic
That colour is absolutely gorgeous. Super detailed video, very well done.
Thank you Redd, cheers!
Wish you would have showed a little of the cable hook up to the amp / receiver or the usb hook up.
@@Mr.HotRod This is a great idea and I may make a new video in the near future. It's quite easy connecting it to a speaker or amp, everything is labelled on the back. Connecting to Sonos took some trial and error but once I figured it out I laughed at how easy the process is.
I absolutely have to get two of this model. I love the bronze finish on this version. Great video as well. I definitely needed something like this when i first bought my turntables years ago.
Thanks Jean
Thank you so much for this video. I just bought mine with 0 clue as to how to start using it. I watched videos that talk about balancing but they were never as thorough or never zoomed in. Thank you!!
That's awesome I'm very happy tp help :) let me know how it is and feel free to reach out if you have any questions
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I had no idea why my records sounded like crap until I realized, through your video, the tonearm was not balanced properly. The printed instructions are an absolute joke, but your explanation did the trick! 🤘🤘
I'm glad I can help!! And Happy New Year man!
Very cool color combo... it really makes this model pop!
Very good instruction video. I've watched loads and set up my Project TT many times so didn't need to watch but video just happened to pop up on my feed. You did it very well and anyone with that unit will have no problem setting up if they following your clear, detailed and unrushed set up.
Thank you very much! :)
Just picked up this record player and am thoroughly impressed by it and i wanted to say a big thank you for your awesome setup video the balancing with rhe weight and dials seemed daunting but your video was a great step by step guide thank you again
Glad I can help! :) Agreed it's a fantastic turntable for the price
Good, clear and concise detail. Thx!
Thank you for the detail in your video. Nice job and very helpful.
Nice demo for setting up tone-arm balance and weight. I am impressed with Audio Technica brand. Just seeing the turntables in the last year. Thanks for post!
Thanks Phil, cheers
This was my choice to purchase and now I'm glad I did. Great post and thank you!
Thanks man happy to help :)

Take Your TIME because this is an important investion that will give you many hours of love and joy of Your not cheap and sensitive finetuned gear that will have a longer live left than many of those Who are over 25 Years old. I bought my Thorens TD-160 FIFTY YEARS ago about 1974 and it still works perfect with my newly cleaned cartridge MA Micro - Acoustic 2002-e bought about 1976 after 35 to 45 years pause. So listen and follow his instructions to carefully guys! So a lot of thanks to this Guy! ❤️😀👍
Thank you very much for those kind words I appreciate it a lot, especially from someone like yourself who has great knowledge with the vinyl world. Hope that Thorens keeps going strong! 💯
Thank you! I just set my turntable up with your directions and everything worked flawlessly.
Thank you for the feedback happy to help :)
Very well done video especially for beginners simple straightforward and easy to see good job
Thanks Ron I appreciate that
This is a literal science, thank you.
Haha no problem! :) Once you get the hang of it it's quite easy to do, hope you enjoy the turntable
This turntable is awesome!
I want one - great looking TT and excellent demo 👍
Thanks! Happy New Year
Great video! Just got this turntable and followed everything you did to get it all set up. Thanks!!
No worries glad I can help hope you enjoy it :)
Thank you so much for your video man all others are so so boring you're straight to the point
Thank you I appreciate that!
Ive had my atlp120 for around 2 years now one of the best turntables I have owned love the bronze colour
Thanks! It really is a great turntable
What a great review! Audio Tehnica should showcase the balancing of the tone arm like you did! Good job man! :)
Thanks man! Cheers :)
I've had the lp120 usb silver/black since 2016. It does have weak anti skate. But, other than that it has been flawless. I keep a towel over the top of it to protect the dust cover from scratches.
You would have the older one as this is the I believe 2019 revised moele witth x in it which as fixed that issue
Great vid! Watching again as my LP120X JUST ARRIVED! lol. Thanks for the step by step.
Right on! And thanks man, hope you enjoy the new TT
This worked incredibly well! I can finally play it thanks
Happy to help Daniel :)
Young man your video is awesome, finally somebody explains how to set up tonearm. Thank you!!
You should make video about your turntable after some time to tell us how happy you are with it and did you do any changes on it.
Great video, thank you😀
Thank you very much for this :) That sounds like a great idea and I will definitely consider making a follow up video in the upcoming months
Cheers
Thanks for the video. Thinking about getting this turntable and for a little extra really like the gold high lights.... Thanks again for the info.
No problem, happy to help, and good luck with your search! Happy New Year Year
Thank you so much for this tutorial. So so helpful for a beginner! 💕
No problem so happy to help hope you're enjoying the turntable! :D
That's the first time I've ever seen a Audio Technica lp120x In GOLD!! WOW!!
Can you ask him where he bought it. 🤔 , and more important how it Sounds.

Excellent review. Amazing job. Thanks
Thank you!
Hey guys, I just wanted to share a small tip that I just recently discovered;
The manual states 2 grams for the tone arm weight which was what I've been using for the last 3 months (2.03g). Everything was perfect until I started collecting records that were in more used conditions. The records with damage in the grooves (1 record even brand new and came scratched) will have a tendency to skip at a certain part of the record. Light scratches it only happened once or twice, but the heavily used records, some of them will skip every single time at the exact same part of the song.
THE FIX
____________
Increasing the tonearm weight to 2.25 -2.40 completely eliminated the skipping on the records I was experiencing it with. I'm sure even 2.50 - 2.60 would still be good and not damage your records, but I spent some time experimenting the limits of how light I can go, and 2.20 - 2.25 was definitely the sweet spot , I'd say closer to 2.25. If you're experiencing any skipping, I would recommend increasing your tonearm weight by increments of 0.10 and keep going until you find the sweet spot. If you don't have a tonearm scale, no worries, the tonearm weight has small lines in-between the numbers that indicate .10 decimal. Just gently increase it 1 notch at a time and re play your record to see if you're getting any skipping. Use a heavily used record with clear scratches for the best results.
Hope this helps and ask away if you guys need help with this or anything else :)
Just change to a ML stylus
Make sure your cartridge alignment is good too. This will effect the angle the stylus rides in the groove. If you've got some worn records perhaps get a cart that will track them better and keep the better one for your newer records.
@@johngore5127 agreed, thanks John
I've got a separate cart for 78s (3.0 mil tip), a cart for mono records (stereo really only came out in 1970 so all your 45s are pretty much mono until then and need a different cart to track them properly), and then another one (usually elliptical, but there are other shapes to play with too) for all those other records, used and new, that will track according to their needs. Have fun.
Sorry, increasing VTF is not the proper fix! People have tendency to set antiskating as high as VTF, so 2 for VTF and same 2 for antiskating, which is wrong! I use a test record to set antiskating and according to the track test antiskating ended up at 1 for VTF of 2 grams! Everything plays awesome! 😉
Love this deck
you sure are a pro
thanks for the lesson!
Beautiful guide. Will be saving for later use.
Thank you very much! :)
thanks, worked perfectly!
np!
Absolutely amazing setup video, just purchased this exact tt in Australia 🇦🇺
Thank Brenton, how are you enjoying it so far?
Well done, very useful, thanks
Thank you :)
This color is fantastic. Congratulations. And I love what you did with your nails at 10:42… 😬
ahaha I was wondering if anyone would notice, I was eating in between some cuts and didn't want to get it dirty, asked the gf for assistance
Thanks for the feedback too!
Love this turntable.....
Beautiful turntable mine is black same model easy setup thanks for detailed video.
Thanks David! Makes it all worth the while :)
the color scheme is hot!! i wish yhey sold parts i piece together a gold an black....or is it bronze!!?? inquiring minds would like to know!!!!

Online it says it's bronze but I agree it looks almost gold lol
It reminds me so much of my Technics 1200 Mark 2.... back in the day....
That's a wicked deck, they're so fuss free it's unbelievable. Do you still own yours?
@@joshs3905 I sold my pair of turntables about 27 years ago.
Too, at the time a couple of young dudes. They were worth more than what I paid for them back in the 80s.
Today im a very sad man.......lol
I NEED that color! It would match my Klipsch speakers perfectly!
It's currently back at best buy! They took it off the site for almost a year but it looks like the bronze is back! It's a best buy exclusive I believe
Well done tutorial! Got the same model in plain black and love it. While the balancing is nicely explained I would really like to recommend to save yourself the hassle and just buy a stylus gauge. These are well invested 10 or 15 bucks.
Thank you very much Alex!
For the stylus gauge you mentioned, is the digital stylus reader at 1:40 & 11:45 of this video what you are looking for?
I've been using this tt for a while now exclusevly for digitizing 45 Rpm records to publish on YT. I have replaced the cart and head with the venerable At 3600l with a stylus upgrade from lp gear. (it's a little bit more fwd for my purposes). It's a great machine. Well worth the money.
100% agreed, great turntable. Just checked out your channel it's good stuff, the quality is great as well
@@joshs3905 Thank you!
Which editing software do you use? I'm trying to upload my collection too and need some help. Thanks!

Audio Software: Audacity (available free on line),
Wave Corrector (available free on line)

Won't waste my money
Nice setup video. Setting mine up this weekend. Wish I could’ve copped the bronze exclusive though.
Thanks Rob, it was my first setup video, I saw many other tutorials that were leaving important details out to prevent any potential damage to the cartridge.
I just swapped out the felt mat for the hudson hifi acrylic and it made a massive difference in bass, and completely cut out any static. Highly recommend it, I couldn't believe the sound difference that a simple $20 platter mat can do.
@@DaveD2000 I don't blame you lol, I was debating between rubber or acrylic for a few days. I was nervous about going acrylic but I don't regret a thing now. The platter mat literally glows with any lighting on it, and when you sit far away you can see the edge of the platter mat glowing as well and it's very nice for seeing how the flutter is. I read reviews about the sound making a difference and didn't think it was true, very shocked when I heard a difference in bass and clarity. It almost completely eliminated static, made the bass sound a little tighter and clear, and cleared up the mids slightly. No records slipping either which was a big surprise. Either rubber or acrylic is mint though
@@DaveD2000 ruclips.net/video/ldKOk2jQTWU/видео.html
Just made a video comparison between the felt mat and the acrylic mat , hope it can be of some help :)
Very nice .
Very nice colors black and bronze... Mine is totally silver and works very good.
Thanks Mireille, and I'm glad that it's been working great for you! :) I hope to keep this turntable for many years and upgrade the cartridge in the future.
Merci pour cette vidéo.
Before you position a tonearm, you must adjust the feet until the turntable is perfectly level. Using a bubble level position at the center of the turntable is best. Only then can you rely on a scale and counterweight to be accuratw
That's very valid and yes I did not cover that. Having a flat base to start with definitely helps as it worked well for me; I personally did not adjust the feet and left all of that stock. I will do a test in the near future just to see how levelled the deck is. Cheers for the info
Hey brother I really enjoyed your
Video,and great explanation 😉👌
Sorry for just seeing this now! Thank you very much

@@joshs3905
No worry's buddy😉👍
I have the original technics sl1210 and what a great turntable it is, as for this one it certainly looks the part.
I'm sure the Technics performs much better than this, but for the price point I was very impressed and don't think there's many better options at $370
Legendary. The audio technica AT LP 1240 slaps them though. Especially in battle. Stronger motor plus the 1240 pitch range is crazy
Oh man, I am glad I found a recent video of someone who has just bought this record player.
I will watch you video and come back to you as I have heard good things about this but and still not 100 percent sure…
I hope that you have had positive thing s to say about the record player!
Hey Rich, I hope this video will be of help to you in making your decision.
I think it's a fantastic turntable for the price, especially if you can snag one while it's on sale. The previous generation had a few features that were more ideal for DJ'ing like the rewind feature and the Tonearm height adjustment. This new model seems to be steered more towards average listening and still keeps the whole "DJ turntable look". So far with 4 months of owning it, I've got nothing but good things to say, sounds great and is very easy to maintain and make adjustments to.
@@joshs3905 Thanks for the swift reply. Did you change the stylus and if so, what would you recommend.
I was a deejay in the past and had two Technics SL 1200s with Stanton cartridges and stylus which I swore by. The company stopped making them years ago hence my asking.
I just want to play my vast vinyl collection but also copy it and I need a worthy stylus…
I had heard the one on this deck is regular but not the best…
@@richmck007 I haven't changed the stylus and I think it sounds great. I've only owned cheaper turntables in the past so this was a big step up. I wouldn't call myself an audiophile but I have been playing guitar for over 15 years and drums just over 5, so I definitely have standards on good quality and this turntable met them. I have not personally done it yet but I know you can burn records to a digital format which is really cool
@@joshs3905 you have more or less twisted my arm to go listen to this!
Thanks for the info!
Enjoy yu’r strummin’
And riffs!!!
As somebody in a record shop who sets up record players all the time I don't even bother with balancing anymore I use a scale and just set it to whatever the manual says that it needs to be set at so if it's 2 g then I put the needle on the stylus scale on the tonearm, and then set it to where it says 2 g saves a lot of time, and if I set the stylus arm to the zero for the shits and giggles, it will balance perfectly every single time
Worth buying an anti skate calibration matt just to check the anti skate.I`ve got the exact same one in silver and before i checked it on the matt the anti skate was very good.Just needed slight adjustment to bring the needle central.
definitely agree with this
Thank you for that information. About the X was going to buy 120usb. But I ended up buying 1200sl
haha big jump! Beautiful deck, please let me know how you're liking it!
That is very very nice in gold and black
This Record player with few parts made out of gold is rare now.
Fantastic video. Helped so much. The manual was pretty well worthless. Thanks
That's a beautiful looking turntable! 🇺🇦🇺🇸👊
awesome great video
Thanks Llewellyn! :)
Thanks a lot for this detailed video! I’m planning to get my first turntable and wondering if I need anything else to have it ready to play like a receiver or speaker?
Hey no worries happy to help :) It's a really good turntable for being good to hook up and go after it's assembled. If you're using any speakers that use AUX I'd recommend getting a 3.5mm to 2-Male RCA Adapter Audio Stereo Cable. You can find a ton online or at local electronic stores.
Enjoy the deck!
Cuidar!
Very nice
Hi! I have this Turntable AT LP 120XUSB as well as Powered Speakers Edifier S1000 MK II and now I just need to listen to my CDs, I am thinking of purchasing the Yamaha CD Player S303 and I don't wanna spend more money in other devices, so is it worth using my active speakers with this CD Player and its DAC?
Hi, Where did you buy the bronze color turntable from? Thanks.
Hello Josh! Where did you pick up this one with the bronze finish?
Is the body of the turntable (plinth or base - whatever you want to call it) made out of plastic or aluminum? Thanks. Apparently this model is exclusive to BB Canada.
I have the chrome version. You'd be hard pressed to find another direct drive turntable that can play 78s. I love mine!
The most reason I bought this model. I have lots of 78s that I play almost daily.
@@johngore5127 I even found a 78 rpm cartridge for it.
HELLO, what about Vertical Tracking Angle ???
How long is RCA cable?
Can I hook up my lg sound bar and speaker to this model TT?
Thanks for the video and set up guide. A decent tt but on a personal note I think the copper accents are overdone.
love the colour!!!! i actually have the AT140xp in black great video! how's the stylus it came with?
Thanks Chris! The 140x is awesome, I can never find stock of them in stores around me. The stylus is great I think, my buddy has the high end ornofon and I can definitely hear a difference in crispness but for what it's worth, was super impressed that the stock stylus on the 120x was actually competing
Hello, I just picked up the exact same table at Best Buy, does the cartridge comes pre aligned?
yes it should come aligned. You can print a scale off of the turntables manual online, and you can double check to see that it's straight. The youtube video may seem confusing at first but it's actually quite fast and easy. I double checked mine just to be sure and it was straight, didn't have to make any adjustments
Does anyone use these for Dj purposes with vinyl time codes and if so how well do they work from your experience?
I just got this tt. Had a electrical burnt smell first spin. Figured may be some oils inside burning off. Been using it and noticed a noise coming from spindle/bearing. A low humming/knocking sound. Bad bearing?
Damn I'm sorry you're experiencing that. I don't think that's normal if I can take a wild guess. If you purchased it from a retailer I'd exchange it asap, I never experienced any burnt smells or any sounds with the spinning. My guess would be that there's either something rubbing against another part causing friction which is causing the sounds and the smell, or that the motor on the inside isn't running properly and may be overheating; but if I can guess it would be the parts rubbing together. did you purchase it new?
Are the vinyls readily available?
they come in this black and gold??? i thought it was there were only 2 options, all black or all silver. this is NICE
i got the silver one, but this black and gold looks amazing
Thanks! It was a Best Buy exclusive product
Does anyone know what to do when the counterweight is on too far on the tone arm? I have tried to loosen the pressure by turning the counterweight to the left, but it seems to be stuck in place and something has it locked. Also, the counterweight is on too far as I cannot see the white center line. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Hey Dale, the counterweight shouldn't lock itself unless it could have maybe been put on backwards? There's 2 parts to the counterweight the front dial and the counterweight itself. I can't think of any reason as to why the counterweight would be stuck like that, maybe giving it a good twist may loosen it up for you but try to be gentle with it. You can always post a picture using PicBun or Flickr and include the link, it will definitely help to give me a better idea of what you're dealing with. Hopefully it's a quick and easy fix!
compare to Pioneer PLX 500 which on is better??? thanks
Hi I have a question..I have this same model..I balanced it to numer 2 but I bought the digital stylus reader but it read 2.12 is that too much or is it ok
Hey there yes that's perfectly fine, I bring mine up to 2.25/2.30 when certain records have a tendency to skip. You can 100% use it for new records as well. If it's bothering you try rebalancing the entire arm, the closer you can get it to the middle float position the more accurate you'll get 2.00g. But 2.12 is not serious at all I wouldn't even bother
I have the same model as on video . I did balanced the arm according to the manual , as well as level on the player , which was not mentioned on the video . Unfortunately after a few playing of records , suddenly the " stylus " get damage and loose it's needle . Ones the record went to the end the arm doesn't return automatically up but is still rotating . And I believe this could be a reason that the needle just gone . Is there any way to prevent the damage of the " stylus " or how to improve the player for not this happen ? It should last much longer when playing a few records ?
Hey there, so there are a few things I want to point out;
First is that this turntable does not have automatic start/stop - meaning the arm will not lift by itself when it reaches the end of the record, and will continue to spin until you manually stop it.
For the stylus being damaged, I think that it may have just been an unlucky bad pick from the bunch. Turntables are fragile and there's no saying if boxes fall or are being handled rough at the stores. The box will only protect it so much but it won't stop all the damage. My first step would be to exchange the turntable if that is possible, if not possible then my 2nd step would be to check the force of grams from the arm and if it reads correctly, I would just replace the cartridge (with the needle included) - If you don't have a scale I highly recommend it.
Hey bro quick question. What's the measurements on that turntable? I want to know if it will fit on the stand I want.
Hey, the dimensions from google say:
452.0 mm (17.80") W x 352.0 mm (13.86") D x 141.6 mm (5.57") H
What speakers are you using? Do you need an amp or receiver? Sorry for the dumb questions, I'm new to all this.
No not a dumb question at all, the speakers I'm currently using are a Sonos setup and they actually work very well. Nice thing with Sonos is that after you go through the setup on your phone, it's one of the easiest systems to operate. I can change the volume and pair up speakers on the spot from my phone. If you go Sonos, I'd recommend either 2 Play 5's paired together, or you can even do 1 Play 5 and 2 Play1's. But the 2 play 5's will probably be your best bet. The more traditional method is to connect 2 bookshelf speakers via the RCA jacks, I'm sure you can find decent ones for a good price. But me personally I went the Sonos route and it has been great. Very fuss-free, the only pain is when you change internet and have to set up everything again.
Could this play a more modern vinyl that has more bass and beat to it without any issues?
I don't see why not! :)
I have Anker Soundcore Mini can i connect it to this with a wire or something? im new to this stuff, i got this one ur showing from bestbuy but im not sure which speakers to get, it doesnt have bluetooth so i dont want big speakers sitting next to it, do u have any recommendations on amazon for a small speaker that will work with this, and if i need a wire to plug that speaker into the back of the vinyl?
This TT doesn't have Bluetooth unfortunately. Check out the Anker Soundsync A3352 Bluetooth Receiver, from my knowledge it will pair nicely with that soundcore. Sonos is nice because it only needs 1 direct AUX connection, and you can add on as many more speakers as you like that will work as a bluetooth junction with one another.
Cheers!
@@joshs3905 im thinking oif getting the Klipsch R41M 50-Watt Bookshelf Speaker it has the same bronze color on it too. Do you think these would work? it only has a black and red cable ports on the back and not the red and white cable colors so im curious.
@@SVR2010REELS They look wired which will absolutely work. The most practical way to go is with a left and right speaker which is what you're looking at, the sound is full as opposed to mono. The next things to look at are the quality of the wood cabinets, and the speakers, but that is all based on your budget. Those speakers have great reviews online it looks like

Very nicely explained the set up ,specially the most crucial one of the first dial with numbers and positioning it to zero and with the help of the last dial taking it upto 2 grams and then with the help of pressure gauge confirming it to the correct weight .
The horizontal levelling was also very important and that sets up the very basic set up .
What is that hudson acrylic mat, where it is available,pl do inform .
Thank you for reading .
Thank you very much Umesh, I'm glad I can help. Here is a link to the Acrylic Platter Mat :

It definitely improved the sound I was getting, I no longer hear static crackling, the bass sounds a lot better, and the vocals are much more clear, I was quite shocked at the differences. It also made my turntable look really nice in my opinion, I got it in yellow and it compliments the bronze nicely. I can post a future video of the looks and sound difference vs the standard felt mat if anyone is interested in that
@@joshs3905 Thank you very much for your response .Please share the video of sound quality difference with the new and the original platter.
Thank you again .
@@umeshupadhyay... I had that acrylic mat on a Music Hall 2.3 on my main stereo and it defiantly improved the sound, cleaner highs and tighter bass. I now have an AT LP7 on that system which requires no mat but I am optionally using a cork and rubber on that one as well as on my AT120 which I use for digital conversion.
@@bbmousedoowop Thank you for your information and I will also go in for that.
It is quite surptiding that the general listeners know thus fact but the companies are not providing this acrylic mat as additional mat for improvement in the sound .

I tried so many times to setup the weight and i can’t.
I balance the tonearm and then put the dial to zero then move the weight 2 and the anti skate to 2 and it’s just too heavy
Please help🙏🏻
Ok lets go through it step by step:
1) Make sure anti skate is on 0 before setting anything up (this is just to be sure)
2) Spin counterweight on the tonearm
3) take your time with the balance - get it where it's floating nice and straight. (It will take about 5-10 seconds for the tonearm to reach it's "true position" and you will know if you got the balance right)
4) Delicately turn the FRONT dial to "0" without moving the actual counterweight
5) pinch the WHOLE counterweight and spin it to "2" after you bring the front dial to 0.
6) Turn the anti skate dial to "2"
I can promise if all these steps are done correctly you will have a great set up. If after 2-3 tries you are still encountering issues there may be something faulty with the turntable, which is definitely possible.
Also, if after the set up you notice your records skipping, just slightly increase the tonearm force by turning the ENTIRE dial slowly in increments of .10 (every little line is an extra .10)
Hope this helps, let me know how it goes and feel free to ask any other questions. Good luck!
Josh S Nice video, What is the main difference between this version & the Bluetooth model?
I believe it's just the Bluetooth functionality
I just want a direct drive, semi-automatic USB turntable. The LP120 would be perfect if it had auto-stop. Is there anything on the market that fills that niche?
From my knowledge I don't think there are many high-end turntables that have that feature. Maybe keep shopping around till you find one that checks off all the boxes? Personally I never cared for the auto stop unless I am doing something away from the TT or if I'm letting someone inexperienced use it while I'm not there. I'm almost certain that the 1 or 2 times you may leave it spinning, is not going to harm your record or the turntable, at the very least just wear out your needle faster, which can always be replaced/upgraded anyways.
Cheers!
@@joshs3905 Okay thanks. I think I'll just go for the LP120 if leaving it running a bit isn't too big of a deal.
@@Skrenja It's a really nice deck and there's a bunch of upgrades you can do to it which makes the experience all more fun. If you're planning to pay full pop for this TT, I'd recommend checking out the Fluance RT 84 or RT 85. It's a really nice deck that prioritizes quality over features. The 84/85 are the fully upgraded versions, however the RT 82 and RT 83 are a lot cheaper and all of the things you get on the 84/85 can be upgraded in the future; you just pay less upfront by going with the better version right away. Hope this helps, good luck on your search!
Did you check the level of the deck before you did the tonearm balance?
Yup I eyed it out and it looked fine, though this made me curious to check with an actual level to see where I'm at exactly. Thanks for this!
