I used to be brand loyalist but now would buy whatever fits my needs the best in addition to my body. Seats are so important with how much I drive. Ford, while they have horrible fit and finish, usually has some very cozy seating.
I have a 2017 Mustang GT Premium and a 2018 F150 XLT. Agreed, both have very comfortable seats. Totally disagree about horrible fit and finish though. For starters, the body line gaps are as good as any other vehicles in their price range, and the quality feel and clean thump sound I get when I close the doors still surprising me with how good it is. Also neither vehicle has any interior rattles! Granted my mustang only has 4k miles on it, but my truck has over 40k miles, and not a single interior squeak or rattle when driving down the road.
@@kevinbreese5739 Glad you had a good experience so far! I would love a newer Mustang. Great video. Just bought a 23 Black Tremor 3.5L and love it. So capable off road and looks nasty. Ride and interior are better than my 18 Platinum. This engine is a beast and is no joke in sport mode. The Tremor is as fast as the Raptor in the 1/4 at 13.9sec and .1 slower in 0-60 at 5.3 sec vs 5.2 for Raptor (car & driver review). Massive low-end torque at 2000 rpms. But.. everything I read on the 6.2 GMC shows a 13.9 sec 1/4 and a 5.4 0-60. Not sure if this race was at altitude because I didn't think the gap was that big.
Just because the Tundra didn't kick down as fast doesn't mean it's garbage. To find out what transmission is garbage you'll have to wait 20 years. In 20 years though, we're all going to be driving EVs, and they will be doing the quarter under 10s.
@mikehughes8023 Maybe I read this wrong but I am Republican and every Republicans I know dog the hell out out EV and EV owners. This is because all EV owners are die hard libtards.

I had mine tuned and it was a completely different Truck, then I ran E85 in it and it made a lot of difference. It now has a CAI, Texas Speed Cam, Fast Intake, Long Tube Headers and Tuned with a built Transmission and its an Absolute Beast.
Love my Powerboost with its 430hp and 570tq. Rarely get on it but the few times I’ve put in sport mode and launched it, it goes. No wheel spin when I switched to 4x4. And the built in 7.2kW genny is too cool.
I drove the PB other day and it was pretty damn quick. Then I talked to my friend who is a mechanic and he said he knows of 3 new F150's waiting on new transmissions before 5k miles. I don't feel like rolling the dice on that.
The Tundra 10 speed is a great transmission its just tuned towards smooth shifts instead of performance. A big problem with the Tundra is turbo lag when flooring it at roll race style speeds.
It is really nice for sure, almost identical ratios to the ZF 8 speed lol. But its not just turbo lag, its trans kickdown lag, I have a short on my channel showing how bad it is
@@jeffsioson500 Twin turbo in the Tundra is new, but Toyota isn’t new to turbocharging. Toyota has turbocharged engines when Ford still had iron block SOHC engines. It’s sluggish compared to the other trucks because of the transmission tuning like the video says. Yeah I never understand why these twin turbo guys get all wet and tickled when they beat a heavier N/A truck. How about you turbo the bigger one? Because than it'll not even be fair for any twin turbo 6 cylinder or 4 banger.
This race actually came down to air drag coefficiency. The Tremor was the only truck in this race with a tunneau cover, that in itself helped it cut through the air more efficiently giving it the advantage in this race, and subsequently winning.
Would be interesting to know if they all had close rear end gear ratios. Those make a difference. Outcome was expected considering the weight of each vehicle. 👍🏻
This is everything in a drag race. A simple gear swap in any of the three trucks would drastically change the results. I would bet they all have a highway gear like a 2.73.
Enjoyed the races, I have the little Ecoboost the 2.7 and absolutely love how strong it pulls, drive it in eco mode and get 22.5 mpg, drove it around 300 miles to Lexington Kentucky and got an unreal 28 mpg, 24 coming back, they just don’t make a great sound, but their strong lil engines and I liked the 2.7 so much in my 2017 got it in my 2023!

I purchased the truck with about 30k miles on it. I'm unaware if it has had any enhancements to the engine.
After driving all 3 trucks in the exact trim that are in this video it was a easy decision for me I bought the tundra the engineering in the tundra is 2nd to none it’s built like 3/4 ton truck and some components like a 1ton truck , I love my 2024 Limited crew max 4x4
Careful with reving that tundra , it will be another blown engine statistic lol I use to be a chevy guy till I bought a 2014 Silverado and that thing had so many issues that if I knew about the lemon law back then im sure it would have qualified but now I'm all ford and I love me 2020 f150 ecoboost . Toyota are always nice but I'd never get a new one till they fix their quality issues
I have the 3.5 and it is fast. It needs an Intercooler though. It gets slower with each consecutive pull due to heat soak. You can see it happening in this video. I put a much larger intercooler on mine and it gained a little bit but more importantly it remains consistent.
Great video. Liked the 3 way tie. 2 critiques for this channel. 1. The model of tundra did not suit this comparison (seemed like you already knew there should have been a TRD Pro in this test). 2. Be careful when you’re throwing around phrases like “almost a Raptor killer”. This comment made no sense at all. The ZR2 is trying to keep up with the Toyot TRD Pro and the Ford F-150 Tremor. The ZR2 isn’t even in the same ball park as the Raptor. The only major thing that sticks out about the Chevy ZR2 Silverado is the 6.2L and a little different bodywork. The Ram TRX isn’t even a Raptor killer. Only thing the Ram does better than the raptor is accelerate. You can prove my point if you grab a Raptor and a ZR2 Silverado and go run them through the desert at 100mph. I don’t think the ZR2 could even make it halfway through the BAJA 1000.
Nr1. It’s already hard getting cars for drags let alone the right model. But this was still close. Nr2. My comment brings more comments and more engagement
Watching this a bit late. What the heck happened to the tremor in the first race? Was the driver completely asleep or was there full sandbags strapped to the wheels?
No manufacturer is going to add forced induction to a v8 with the exception of dodge and the hellcat engine. Ford want's almost nothing to do with their v8, let alone forced induction v8. GM is stuck in their ways and rarely turbos anything. Nissan and Toyota hate turbos for some reason so don't expect anything from them. In the us the epa is destroying engines and forcing manufacturers to only care about emissions with hp and torque numbers being an after thought. And I think the main crux of the issue is kind of the argument why do you need more power? If 400 hp and 450lbs of torque will do 99% of what you want it to, what's the point of chasing more power? That's obviously not my mind set, as I think every v8 should come with a supercharger and turbo option, but people that think that way are dwindling. Your average guy buying trucks now is wearing skinny jeans and loafers doesn't care bout power, just that it can haul a few bags of mulch, a tv stand, or a bicycle and be in the lap of luxury while doing it.
@@grimreefer5159 Ford did, Did you hear of the fp700 package for the 5.0 F-150, and also the raptor R with it's 5.2 engine in 2023 to compete with Ram TRX which is now Discontinued. Both engines 700+ hp. Ford is the only one doing it now, since Stellanis (Dummy Carlos Tavares) had just announced the discontinuation of all V-8 Hemi's. Jim Farley of ford said we won't kill the V-8. Then made the supercharged fun V-8 F-150's. GM still making V-8 but no supercharged or turbo version yet. So Ford and Chevy the only trucks with V-8 now, Tundra...gone Ram/dodge...Gone. Guess only 2 American muscle companies left TBH. Corvette and Mustang are the only American car V-8's left as well, also Chevy and Ford.
Was always a Chevy guy. My last one was a 2020 Denali 6.2 loved it and talked crap on ford like I owned a large part of GM. Had to get some routine maintenance done and got a 2019 EcoBoost for a loaner for 2 days. When my truck was ready I drove straight to the Ford dealer and traded it in for a 2020 f150ecoboost and it's not hard to admit it is better than GM in every way.
I don’t care for Ford but after renting a Ford Explorer Max with this engine changed my opinion. I drove it a few hundred miles going over mountains too and not once did I hear the engine rev up or struggle to climb. The only thing that went up was the Turbo boost that’s it. After that weekend I was set on owning one in the near future. Great video Sam. Can you do some more with the Tremor. The Chevy is a beast too since not having a turbo
I have an F-150 and pull a 31.5' travel trailer. GVWR of the trailer is 7400 Lbs, but I can still pull Parley's Canyon, for anyone that has ever been to Park City, and that is a 4-5% grade. I can do it 60 MPH all day long. Ford has spent a lot of time and money boosting small displacement engines. I honestly believe they are ahead of the curve in that regard.
You liked it just wait til you get hit with the repairs for the pos lol lot of bays filled with those and other, new or older, typically ford, fix or repair daily lol
Well it's great unless you actually drive your truck like a truck everyday. You know, rely on an extreme conditions or pull trailers with it a lot. The last thing you want on a daily driver is a turbocharger. Just another part to fail and the irony is these vehicles don't get better gas mileage anyway
The best comparison in a long time, the Toyota was very light as they mostly are, gave 2-300lb advantage, the 6.2 like all NA engines has raw power throughout the RPM range, the long tested ecoboost technology with ford shows its advantages here.
Believe it or not this race actually came down to air drag coefficiency. The Tremor had a tunneau cover and all of the other truck beds were uncovered, believe me that made a huge difference in these races. One of the main things you do if you want to speed your truck up with better fuel economy is put a tunneau cover on it.
MJA Reacts, if you want to speed your truck up and get better fuel economy, you put twin turbos on it. Ford was first to go for it and are several generations in. It wasn’t the tonneau cover buddy. I have a cover for dry storage but it wasn’t always that way, I still pulled on cars you’d never expect. The truck is quick.
@@Youcallthesebagels_ It has a little more HP so yeah it's a little faster. Next time just skip revving any V6 trucks 😂
Anyways, we did not have the best experience with our last Ford, seats were great, reliability was decent, but the fit and finish was not great. Sharp edges and panel gaps that were not aligned properly. I am not the only one with these issues and my previous job had tons of new Fords, all with the same issues, but at least they were reliable!
Also, my wife's mother has a newer Ford and it had decent fit and finish but the reliability has been less than stellar but that can be said with almost any brand.
Having compared the big three regularly (I work at a dealership) I feel the Ford's have the best fit and finish. Feel the most complete and quality.
Life is too short to be loyal to just 1 brand.

Of the 3, the F150 would be my choice.
The Tundra 10 speed is a great transmission its just tuned towards smooth shifts instead of performance. A big problem with the Tundra is turbo lag when flooring it at roll race style speeds.
And also twin turbo for Tundra is kind of new. Unlike the f150s twin turbo it’s been a while already so that’s why they know what they doing.
The stock Ford trucks hardly ever lose in a drag, they know their competitors well and know how to give it some top end programming wise!!

Really thought the Chevy could have done better in the 50MPH roll they really need to start looking into Force induction on that 6.2
Supposedly chevy workin on new v8 motors for there pickups and suvs
Jim Farley of ford said we won't kill the V-8. Then made the supercharged fun V-8 F-150's. GM still making V-8 but no supercharged or turbo version yet.
