Okay sorry I agreed with the guy in the white shirt more, but once he said Enchanted was abysmal, literally everything else he said went out the window lol. That's her literal best song, the epitome of any Taylor Swift song. It's over the top dramatic, it's romantic, it's fairytale-like. All the things Taylor is known for and actually should be known for.
PLEASE do not stop popcast deluxe yt. This is legit my fav podcast and I wait for it every week. Please please powerful peeps in meetings, keep this podcast going. Joe and John are gifts and so brilliant at what they do. Love them and love this podcast. Been a massive fan since the Ashlee episodes.
Exactly, I get, that's it's uneven, but Red is also and it's considered to be one od Taylor Swift best albums' so far. Evermore could also be przed as Red bigger sister.
1. Popcast Deluxe (and original recipe Popcast) has been the highlight of every week of mine for the past year. PLEASE be back soon 2. Not sure what your RUclips plans are, but please also consider doing a Hot Ones episode for the people
I hate to comment, but pleaseeee don't stop this series, we love the full episodes - I've been checking my work laptop RUclips every Thursday hoping that a new Deluxe episode has come out! The split videos just made it difficult to ensure I had seen all that had been released, but I adore the full hour of chat and snacks.
48:10 Ed Sheeran's line in End Game is "After the storm, something was born on the Fourth of July" which refers to a Fourth of July party Taylor hosted that Ed attended and remet his would be fiancé. Ed has also stated that it's a play on words, as there is also a film with Tom Cruise called "Born On the Fourth of July"
I would pay for a separate subscription just to have these episodes visually. The two of you, including snacks/visual presence, are a part of my week I genuinely look forward to. Notifs are on NYT… notifs are never on
I hope you will do a follow-up episode in which you factor in the re-records and vault songs. In your minds, how do those song stack up in the context of the rest of the discography? Which of them improve/detract from the discography? (BTW: TTPD is my all-time favorite album. Not just fave TS, but fave ever. And I'm a 66yo guy who enjoys a wide range of music (my previous fave was Metallica), so I'm not basing on limited experience with music.)
This episode caused me to finally to a full discography dive (originals). Just finished Reputation, very close second to Speak Now so far!! Thank you guys
It's 3am in here , i have a 9 am class 2moro and it's the best podcast episode i have ever watched ....i love Taylor and i love you guys as the best critics

Been a fan for years and watching you two, your faces, it’s next level! John imitating the Eras Tour dancers’ expressions during The Man after he saw the movie… it changed lives! NYT you didn’t let this cook. For the first few months, the channel was spamming audio only deluxe and deterring subs. Please continue!
I discovered the podcast about 3 weeks ago and have been going through the entire back catalog just to catch up and hear its ending???? This is like the 4th show in the past year that have ended within a month of me finding it, AM I A HARBINGER OF DEATH??? Anyways I'm willing to stop watching if it means this wonderful podcast can continue, hoping for the best but thank you for all the laughs and horribly aged takes if this is the end
Love you guys...this episode was so good. I've gotten to know both of you well enough that i had a pretty good where your top choices might fall. Surprised you never discussed the fact that its her most recent recordings that are least-liked (other than Jon's shocking 9th inning embrace of Poets), which signals another TS reset might be in order. More importantly, I originally thought i'd hate the 'snacks' segment. I LOVE THE SNACKS SEGMENTS!! Thanks guys for everything
For most of the US leg of the Eras Tour, Enchanted was the ONLY song on the setlist from Speak Now so people making playlists of the set list would boost the song. Don't know why that was hard to figure out😅
Please don't stop the podcast! In fact, put it all back together as one long podcast instead of segmented bits. I wait until they are all out so I can watch them in order, as if it were a full episode. Don't give up on snack chat!
Wow there are some absolutely wild opinions on this video!! Reminds me of how people used to complain back in 2012 about her switching from country to pop. The fact that some of the songs were misnamed - 👀
I was listening to this on my commute home and LOST MY BREATH and BUSTED OUT LAUGHING at evermore being named #11. Couldn’t take the rest seriously after that. But I appreciate the in-depth discussion and methods used to determine these rankings. To each their own. ❤
To me, Jon Caramanica and Joe Coscarell are by far the best pop star commentaries. Every criticism you guys have made in the podcast is constructive and hilarious. Thank you so much for devoting the entire episode for ranking Taylor Swift's album with your most candid and conflicting opinion. 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
Lover is insane but as a casual listener who jumps in and out of her music, I somehow made it past the garbage singles and ended up absolutely loving that album. It’s not cohesive but there are so many great songs on it. Glad you both appreciate Speak Now for the masterpiece that it is
Glad Jon, in his coming around to The Last Great American Dynasty, has realized that we shouldn't limit our ideas of "theatricality" to bombast and camp. I can't believe I'm quoting the only Glee episode I've ever loved, but maybe theatricality doesn't have to be a nuclear explosion. It can be like a quiet storm that still radiates authentic emotion, even if every line isn't a confession of quotidian detail. And TLGAD is definitely theatrical. Heck, look at the Eras Tour performance of it.
I feel the need to comment because of the Buffalo s/o 🙌🏻 I wonder if the bookstore was Talking Leaves? Also: Reputation is my favorite as well and I’ve never met someone else who feels the same way. 😂
My list based off of most likely to listen front to back. Her earlier stuff is nostalgic but there are more songs I’d “skip” - it’s just so hard cause I actually love them all!! lol 1. rep 2. TTPD 3. lover 4. Folkmore 5. evermore 6. Speak Now 7. 1989 8. Midnights 9. Red 10. fearless 11. Debut
Absolutely love the pod and the amazing insights you guys provide. I just found the show a few months ago so I hope you both keep going and get the chance to continue to build an audience that appreciates this sort of music discussion!
Glad her earlier work with more country flavors are well appreciated by both of you. Her best output will always be her root there, unlike how most gen Z try to play it down.
48:00 - Small thing about the 4th of July comment. The way Ed Sheeran reconnected with the girl who was then going to be wife/mother of his children was on a 4th of july party in Coney Island hosted by Taylor.
I would put Fearless in tier S and move Red down to tier A but otherwise this isn't a bad way of looking at it. I would also swap Lover and Speak Now because, although Lover isn't perfect, the highs are so, so high.
