    On "My Car Story" we're at the Carlisle Events in Carlisle PA on 7-14-23.
    We're looking at a 1967 Dodge Coronet R/T in Black Paint. The car comes with the 426 CI Hemi V8 engine, and a 4 Speed manual transmission.
    The car's Owner is Alan Pedersen. Alan’s had this car since 2013. He shared this car was a Friend of his Nick who passed away. After the Widow knew Alan was interested, they came to a sale price knowing Alan would be a great Caretaker. After Alan had the car, he opened a drawer in his garage and Nick’s T Shirt fell out on the ground. Alan offered Nick’s Widow the T Shirt, and she said, “That shirt should be with the car”. This car is a survivor with under 32K miles on it.

    This car with the Delaware plates brought back a memory... In the 1970s I was in high school in Delaware. One day my friend Max and I rode our bikes to a nearby neighborhood to his uncle's house. Around the side near the back of this little house there was a 1967 Coronet R/T 426 Hemi 4-spd in it's original off-white paint that had sat unused for a few years. The car was only 10 years old, and he said his uncle could not afford the higher gasoline prices, or the rear tires the car burned up. He lifted the hood and the huge round air cleaner atop 2 4-barrel carbs and massive Hemi valve covers seduced our 15 year-old brains much like seeing a pair of real boobs for the first time. Fantasies of hammering the throttle in street races swirled in our just-about-to-get-drivers-license minds.
    Max pleaded with his uncle to sell the car to him, but no luck. I have no clue what happened to the Coronet after that.

    Wow, Lou! Look at that beautiful car. I am amazed at how automobile styling in the 1960's was simple yet stunning. This car has details like the front end treatment that is simple and elegant yet futuristic. The roofline on this car is just dynamic in its execution. IMHO, that roofline is one of the best looking ever on a car that was later copied by Mercedes on its coupes in the 2000's. This styling follows a less is more philosophy that is both hard edged but with subtle detailing. Look at that rear design taking the front and removing the headlights to complete the overall look. You really have featured a gem here and being painted black only enhances its look. I'm so fond of black cars that I currently drive one. I like the interior as well and having a manual transmission is like the cherry on a hot fudge sundae! Mmmmm. Thanks or sharing this, Lou! What a beautiful car. One of my older sister's boyfriends had one back in 1967. Red with the 440 and the four on the floor. What an amazing design look, etc. Hemi's were not seen in southeastern Massachusetts, to the best of my memory back in the 60's.. Would have been a crime for such a beautiful beast to be exposed to the salt water air. Seeing this car brings back memories of Jimmy Addison's "Silver Bullet."

You also express the human element of how personal the attachment is between the owner's and their magnificent vehicles. That Mopar is definitely a pristine survivor! I always had a fondness of the Dodge Coronet of that era. This 1967 Dodge Coronet R/T equipped with a 426 Hemi engine with a manual 4-speed transmission! A perfect combination! This Coronet reminds me of a friend's Dodge Coronet Super Bee that had the exact same equipment this car has! That car would flat out run! That Hemi sounded super healthy, and the exterior paint job is in excellent condition. I could tell by the grin on the owner's face that he really loves this Mopar! Nice car as always Lou!

    I think I saw a few old ladies run in fear. Also, some moms grabbing their kids and running for the hills. The mighty Hemi. You won't hear that sound coming out of an electric vehicle!

      @loucostabile A Hemi is a symphony to my ears, Lou. A thinly disguised racing engine let loose on the street. I grew up a Chevy guy but I have TONS of respect for those Chrysler power train engineers.

    Saw one just like this on another channel, except that one had redline tires, black steel rims , and dog dish cap's which I prefer , but they're both beautiful. Jay Leno's got a '66 , and he said it's the one car he's got that his wife wonders why he likes it ? I don't get that 🤔

    Sweet! Always loved the back of that car.
    Did you know those front fenders are the same as 66-67 Charger? Even the grille will interchange.
    Knew a guy with a '66 GTX, mint. He decided it would look cool with bullet holes in it, so he shot it four times.

    had a 1969 GTX sold it not fast enough.. Got a 1970 Hemi Cuda May 1972, definitely faster. GTX was a a nicer , to drive everyday. Also a/c . Love the Mopar idle. Actually, liked the 440 idle better. Raspier, Hemi made your ear drums resonate more. Paid $2000 for the Cuda. Who would thought the prices would be as they are now.

    • @loucostabile
      @loucostabile  24 дня назад +1

      I think the oil crisis took out the muscle cars, then Corporations became more interested in stock prices then quality, and well it took awhile until the Viper came back in 1992 :-)
