How far is this house from the water. And please don't raise my insurance for living further away from the water.

That's not how it works, unfortunately.

It’s about 2 blocks plus a very deep portion of the beach I recognize it because I used to drive past it to take my son to work.

Mother nature does not mitigate or wear a watch. Stay smart and strong. I feel for the kids. Children don't understand why they can't go back. Kids believe their parents have all the answers.

My mother lived on Carlouelle north Clearwater Beach.... They were flooded out twice . She finally left the beach. Nobody should be living on the coast of Florida unless you prepared to be flooded out and have your home destroyed or not. It's like a casino game so sometimes you win sometimes you lose, but I almost lost my life, getting them off the beach, my heart and solar with the people of Florida take care be smart

Reporters should ask those they interview how many times they plan to rebuild before they decide to move out of flood prone areas.

Barrier islands are not meant to be inhabited. They should be left as what nature intended them as--islands meant to soak up the power of these monster storms. I have compassion for people who are not rich who lost their homes, but the state and federal governments need to step in and stop rebuilding of homes that are destroyed repeatedly by hurricanes. It's always a matter of when not if when it comes to all coastal homes--not just Florida. It happens in CA, NC, SC, GA, VA, NJ, NY, etc.

It is a blessing that this family kept such an immaculate home. Hopefully, they were able to save their belongings stored on shelves above flood level. My heart goes out to them and all the others who lost so much. God bless them.

Keep moving next to the Gulf and you will be flooded. It's amazing to me how these people are amazed that they get flooded. You are literally on a peninsula that's right on the Gulf of Mexico.
