- During a recent ride on Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts in Orlando, there was some malfunction that caused the ride to stop and the visual effects to stop working. The ride was stopped for 5-10 minutes before resuming, but with all the lights on. A very rarely seen view of the inside workings of the ride.
While I can sympathize with people missing out on the ride, getting this rare look at the workings "behind the scenes" would be a pretty good consolation prize.
They let you go around again if it does this
Yes and no- the only time I rode it there was a three hour line. I'd be super pissed although I am a theatre technician and love the peek behind the curtains.
Very cool. With the lights on, you can see how detailed and themed everything is. If GOTG at Epcot's lights were to come on, you'd see black walls with led disco balls and a cardboard cutout of peter quill, lol.

Surely they are not missing out. We got to re-ride immediately with no queue and on top of that got "skip line"/VIP tickets for 2 additional rides of our choice when something similar happened on another ride. There is no "we're sorry, but stuff happens" like on public transport. They make sure that such an event will not blemish your experience. Pretty awesome in this park.
What this appears to be is called "jogging", which is basically an alternative to evacuating the ride. Instead, you will slowly be brought through all scenes (excluding the launch and drop, as you do need substancial speed to go over the hill to return to station level.). On other rides you would basically bypass everything and just jog to the exit. For this ride, the vehicles do have to stop to keep them spaced out so that's why they stop in this instance. You can see this in other videos such as "Forbidden Journey Lights On" where the vehicles ignore the scenes and just jog you out. The ride crew will do this when the problem doesn't need evacuation and they also don't want to evacuate. Think of it as an alternative to evacuation.

1:16 First few times I rode this I couldn't figure out how the car went though an area that clearly had projections earlier. It was only on subsequent rides that I noticed the line around the screen segment that the robot arm pulls away a moment before you launch. Pretty brilliant idea.
the engineering behind this atractions is incredible
one time i went that area was open at the start becasu of a malfuncion with the mecinisum so they just left it open instead of closing the ride

I don’t know if it was the same event but I went through this as well a couple of weeks ago. When we finally got to the unloading area, my group all shouted, “Best ride ever!” 😂
When my dad got off this ride he thought it was just a motion simulator and that the ride vehicle didnt actually travel along any kind of track.
How… how did he explain the actual movements in his head? What about the drop? The launch? He had to notice that stuff.
I thought that screen at the end was like the projector screens schools have. I had no idea it did that!
I was there two weeks ago and it broke down several times. Actually, there was one day when almost every ride we went on broke down. It was frustrating. We didn't even get to see it like this because they didn't turn the lights on. The ride was just glitching and the carts weren't moving in the right direction, etc.

its a whole experience. There are rides like Jimmy Fallon where the crew will tell you themselves to see the queue because its that good. With Fast and the Furious the experience is mainly the queue and the pre-show, the ride itself is bad, the actor's improv skills in the pre-show makes or breaks your ride.

I was there yesterday...the ride was broke again for almost 2 hours. I was stuck one Pirates of Caribbean ride years ago...just sitting in stationary boat for 20 min...no way to get out.

The worst ride to get stuck on, because the leg restraints are so heavy on your legs and your legs quickly go numb. Every time I ride this I have to risk a panic attack if it stops lol
having your knees completely restrained isn't fun!

We got stuck on this ride at the start for about 25 mins in the end they had to get us out manually and crowbar the restraint off us it was really uncomfortable!
Tip: Lift your stomach when they push the bar down, then sit back as normal. That way, the bar hits your stomach and will not suffocate you, leaving you wiggle room.
The troll drop you don’t really drop at all but they tilt it forward but the bellatrix one isn’t bad either I think total there’s just one drop and that’s Bellatrix and that end on isn’t bad
This happened during my visit to Orlando as well it was weird seeing all the lights on 😆

is this ride fast in any part of it? Need help. Making sure for someone who likes rides but nothing spinning or fast. Is it like the mummy, which is cool?
This is way slower than the mummy lol. It just feels more intense because of the spinning. The launches aren't fast and the spinning isn't intense. Honestly it's like the Transformers ride with a bit more movement
Okay, but Bellatrix would never say "muggle-born." She would absolutely call the riders "Mudbloods." Don't tell me they thought the use of a fictional slur was "too inappropriate" to use in the ride?

It's not bad at all. You get held pointed down into the drop for literally 15 seconds at the VERY start of the ride, then the drop is small and over very quickly. Doesn't even feel like a drop.
And no, it does not go upside-down. I don't even consider this ride a Rollercoaster.
It is fairly steep (about 40-45 degrees?) but the actual drop is very short! It doesn't go upside-down either.
I personally found this ride less intense (and less stomach wise too) than forbidden journey.

There's a very small one where they hold you for 15s at the very start of the ride.
This is one of those rides where the queue is better than the ride. The rollercoaster part is great but the rest it's just like Transformers and Spiderman where you move from one screen to another.

How did you record on this without getting caught
You can record in parks on rides. Especially dark rides lol.... they don't care just as long as you don't have your flash on or are out the cart/dropping it.
What is the upper track for? Does the ride traverse that track?
Decoration I presume. To make it seem more like a believable location, with stuff going on that isnt directly related to the ride experience.
No. Basically just theming. In the gringots vault there are tracks everywhere.

This was horrible it didn’t have any fun to it, all screens & barely anything to look at.

I love this ride but I’m 6’-7” tall and somehow became and old man. My knees are jammed right up against the seat but I can last for the duration of the ride. I only hope I never get stuck on it for an extended period of time or I’ll be crying.
Universal all the say, WOKE Disney can go out of business or sell to Universal.
That is very tall! I’m 6’3” and even I have issues with these sorts of rides. One day I’ll be an old man too and still have to deal with this nonsense.
@@ValiantPixel When we use to go yearly I’d always have to stand under the “Too Tall” gizmo at the Rock-It roller coaster. I hated it, it was flat out embarrassing.
I'm 5-11 and I can't ride this ride due to how it jams and pinches my knees.
However Disney is more size inclusive and I could ride every ride except for one at Disney. I’m 6’4 and could barley fit on anything at universal. They should take a note out of disneys book and use their same manufacturer.
