    When my sister and I were in the queue to ride escape from Gringotts, a ride operator gave us an option on what cart and row we would like. We asked what the best cart and seat was. The ride operator told us to sit the last row last cart and look up during the drop and to also look behind us each time we leave a room. He said it would trippy. It was really neat because the animation continues to play even after the carts leave each room. My sister and I had a chance to ride the first cart first row on our first go and the second time was last cart last row. We both agree with the ride operator as both experiences are great but by far the best experience is in the last cart the last row.

    @ggibby0909 3 года назад +63

    I actually got to go on this ride a few times. The first time I went though, the train totally bugged out. It started at the drop when the coaster tilted, but didn't release us for a solid minute. We were just sat there, tilted and on the edge of our seats (literally), waiting for a drop we didn't realize was supposed to happen ages ago. Then when we got to some of the screens, turns, and track tilts, all the practical effects played, but none of the special effects worked. We were just sat there extremely confused as to why the car was tilting and water was spraying at us with no audio or video to back it up. Eventually after a couple more small stalls, we made it uphill and _almost_ back to the terminal. It was at the final corner before the car returns to the station that the ride decided it had enough. It stopped there, and none of the employees could get it running again. We ended up having to get evacuated from the ride using a plank to bridge the gap between the car and the service pathway. It was all well and good in the end, and the employees gave us a stack of 1 time use fast passes that could get you to the front of the line on rides like Gringotts that didn't accept the unlimited fast passes you could purchase, which we had. The ride closed for the day under maintenance, and the next day we got the proper experience. It was fun!

    This is probably my favorite ride at Universal Orlando. I'm almost posed to put it ahead of Hagrid's just because I feel like the experience as a whole is better, even though the actual coaster is not. The sheer amount of detail that went into the entirety of the queue, the multiple interactive elements, the animatronics, the photo section, the elevator, etc, it's all just SO good and it really makes the queue something you actually enjoy and is as much a part of the ride as the coaster itself.

    How it works? It brings in people to this park which was seeing declining numbers since everyone wanted to go to Harry Potter land in the other park. And then with another brilliant move they made it so you had to have a park hopper pass to ride the train/tram ride between the parks. Harry Potter really turned Universal around to become a desired destination.

    we went back a few days later and rode it again but it broke down. it stopped for a minute or two and then the ride resumed, with all house lights on so we could see the studio around it and of course the screens and effects didnt work as well as with lights off. it was interesting to see behind the scenes of the ride. it also worked out well as on the ride where it broke down we were at the back of the cart so didn't feel like it was as good, but after the faulty run came to an end they let us all ride again and this time we were at the front - AMAZING ONCE AGAIN! it also felt like fate as in addition to riding gringotts once again, we were also given a single use fastpass so used it on the new exclusive jimmy fallon ride that was only available to fastpass guests in the day time. it was so lucky that we'd broken down on gringotts as we got to use our fastpass on jimmy fallon so our family got to experience another great ride on that holiday that we never would have :)

    This was much more tamer than the Forbidden Journey! I liked it way better but the weight time was like 2 hours.

    I hope universal makes more hybrid coasters like this in the future. I’d love to see a ride that starts like Spiderman, with screens and physical sets. A couple of fight scenes, and then end with a fast-paced coaster ride towards the end :) wishful thinking, perhaps.

    I rode this ride when I was 9 and I am going to ride it again because when I was younger I didn’t just enjoy, because I was scared. This ride is now in my opinion one of my favorites. Beautifuly decorating, but I still enjoy the hogwwarts express the best

    The queue is far more fun than the "ride". It's mainly a series of blurry screens you watch, with a ride vehicle that ferries you between screens.

    What I don't understand is why they didn't shoot the ride film in 3D. They had complete control over the studio. The 2D to 3D conversion of the live action characters looks incredibly flat, especially Voldemort and Bellatrix in the vault scene.

    • @polhub1
      @polhub1 3 года назад

      Because the different guest seating positions would not allow traditional 3D filming to work properly. Squinching takes care of that digitally making a wider viewing area possible

    This ride was awesome. I loved every single second of it. But I was there I didn't get to experience the pre-shows, the goblins talking and the elevator part. The elevator was wide open on both sides, goblins were silent and there was no pre-show, even on the Hagrids ride, just the dog walking around. It was just a straight line to the ride pretty much. Kind of disappointing tho, now that I see it. I guess that with this COVID thing they're not doing certain stuff.

    This is a good ride, but not as fun to me as Revenge of the Mummy or Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey due to all the screen time. I wish it was more of a roller coaster. I think on that note I’d love the Motor Bike Adventure! Could not ride it last time I was there due to 7 hour wait time.
    Please do a video on Revenge of the Mummy!!!!! And Expedition Everest!

    The newspaper and painting effect is probably helped by using very matte displays, which exist but are less common than screens with a glossier front.
