Steady body the first charm is Insanely good I can literally face tank most bosses in the game when it is paired with quick nail and unbreakable strength
It's funny because everyone says steady body is underrated and it's OP but that just makes it not underrated since apparently everyone rates it so high...
@DJfunkyPig 526 Awesome, the extra Dash length is helpful much more often than it is a hindrance. I love taking Sharp Shadow to the Path of Pain, for example.
I used sharp shadow a lot at the beginning when fighting bosses because I was really bad at combat, but I'd have to unequip it because getting to Traitor Lord with it on was proving significantly difficult.
Bro same. Right now I’m using a build that uses SS, Soul twister, soul eater, quick slash, and dash master. For bosses that are relatively stationary, they will be gone within 15-30 seconds it’s pretty crazy. And the combos you can do are also pretty ridiculous. For example one that I like to do a lot is I hit the boss twice, dash, then descending dark, another two swings and then finally dashing again. Easiest combo to do is simply dash then shade soul. If you want I can make a list of combos herw
@@terrahatvol7960 I was able to make it to traitor lord with sharp shadow. I just used monarch wings for the platforming. If you don’t have it and don’t know where it is, a boss guards it deep beneath city of tears
Dreamshield is pretty good honestly. I love to use it in the colosseum in combination with dreamwielder(which, most of the time, I want to use anyway). It's also completely broken against sisters of battles since it destroys their projectiles-that's how I beat them on radiant difficulty in like 5 attempts.
Here's a tip for making Shape of Unn effective: Use it with Quicik Focus. Quick Focus will double Unn's speed, making at possible to dodge a lot more attacks.
@@varietyplays3033 You also have the quicker healing time and the small hitbox, meaning you can slip under attacks and counter with full health much easier.
@@varietyplays3033 It's how I beat PureV for the first time lol. I just got those 2 charms and slither away anytime it does the triple slash for 3 free heals.
Grubsong is also good when combined with weaversong, since every hit from a weaverling gives you soul to use, and with the price of only 3 notches, a little extra damage and extra soul is a fair trade in my book
And honestly, pet builds are really fun just for the lulz. It makes it easy to go full pet build (Grimm child, weaver song, glowing womb, grub song, and sprint master). And that's such a cheap build, that you even save notches too, so you can throw in an extra charm or two for anything else that you want.
@@RushWheeler it often is fine without sprintmaster depending on area an enemy/boss. It is never good enough without grub song though. Grub song is great by itself though whole sprint master makes you wish you had dash master which forces sharp shadow to maximize.
Nailmaster's Glory is actually insane. With just a single charm notch, it can basically replace other nail charms. Nail Arts have more range than a nail with Mark of Pride and they don't knock you back. Nail Arts are also very flexible and have a surprisingly large hitbox. You can hit enemies above you with Great Slash, which trivializes flying enemies while Dash Slash can be used to poke enemies from a great distance. Cyclone Slash is useful to deal damage while still maintaining some degree of mobility to step out of some attacks. My preferred build is a high mobility Nail Arts focused build with Nailmaster's Glory, Dashmaster, Sprintmaster, and Sharp Shadow. Being able to immediately dash again after dashing through a charging enemy with Sharp Shadow allows you to retaliate with a Dash Slash in relative safety. The movement speed boost you get from Dashmaster and Sprintmaster helps you position yourself out of danger to save Sharp Shadow to deal damage. This is an incredibly fun and flexible build that only cost 6 notches, giving you 5 notches to use as you see fit. I usually throw in Quick Focus/Shaman Stone and Spell Twister for an extremely potent burst build capable of staggering some bosses quickly.
I reciprocate this, nailmaster’s is probably the best charm in the game. Allowing you to use cyclone basically whenever you want already puts it at quick slash strength level of continued dps, but great slash/dash slash also makes it great against bosses with few attack opportunities, so it gets the best of both worlds. It’s also the best charm to pair with spells and minions so it tends to be great at speedrunning or toughing out a prolonged fight. You can literally equip it with shaman stone, flukenest, spell twister and soul catcher at once and go full destruction mode on EVERYTHING. Although I never used it like that; I always prefer sharp shadow and minions/dreamshield with it. It even works well with heavy blow to make radiant markoth easier.
I find Sprintmaster heavily useful in fights like Pure Vessel and Absrad. The former teleports a bunch, so Steady Body makes it easier to keep up with them; the latter has attacks like the orbs and radial beams from which Sprintmaster gives more leeway for running away.
Grubsong is actually a REALLY good charm for platforming if deep focus is equipped as well. When you get hit 2 times, you get enough soul to heal once, BUT deep focus heals you two masks, so you can always stay at full health. So yeah, i recommend grubsong + deep focus.
You actually end up covering a minuscule amount, I think two grubsong hits give you 30 soul and it costs 33 to heal. But before I found hiveblood grubsong and deep focus carried me through the white palace
One thing to note: Carefree melody can also save lifeblood masks. So if you have carefree, the number of hits you can expect to take without healing to be approximately (max hp + lifeblood masks )x 1.224. The fact that it can save lifeblood is handy on pantheons, especially p5 where you can have up to 5 lifeblood masks each. That brings the number of hits from 14(9 masks+5lifeblood) to just over 17.
@@photonic083 I tried the modinstaller recently, but it didn't work. I tried everything by myself, then searched on the steam forum, then on reddit, then I asked for help on discord, it didn't matter, it wouldn't work:(
Sprintmaster also makes your weavers collect a little bit more soul when you have it paired with Grubsong. Granted, it's a 4 notch commitment. But it's a nice little boost. It also makes sharp shadow hit a little harder.
Well, choosing between Carefree melody and Grimmchild you quickly realise, that there's actually no choice. You choose CM every damn time because it's just that good. It's an insurance from mistake. Not once or twice it saved my butt in pantheons when I was playing like crap and just when I thought that I was done, it took me out of the jaws of defeat, giving me much needed chance. And if boss does double damage, CM usefulness doubles just as well. I don't really wear it for regular travel across the map, but for pantheons it's the first charm that gets equiped.
Sharp Shadow + Dash Master + Sprint Master was one of my favorite combos. I even defeated some bosses just by dashing into them and it was so much fun tbh
I've been using sharp shadow ever since I found the charm on my first game. That's never changed. It's my absolute favorite charm and it's good to see someone else appreciates how fun and useful it can be.
I love Sharp Shadow. I remember the first time I put it on after I got it and I've never taken it off since then. It's just, such a good charm. It doesn't even really muck with platforming segments that much, I can think of exactly one place, right before Traitor Lord, but that's it. It, Soul Catcher and Shaman Stone are probably the charms that I get the most use out of.
Ive honestly just used the same charm layout since my 3rd playthrough, so I mostly watch this kind of video to see what other charms can do in the right hands knowing damn well I won’t change
For Hollow Knight being my first metroidvania game I appreciate a charm like Grubsong. I am very much a skiddish player who gets hit more times than I'd like to admit and it's nice to get something that can heal me or help me get off a spell because of my clumsiness. I also like having the Weaversong charm on a lot and having those two paired together has definitely gotten me the heals I needed. I can understand why it's preferred as training wheels as opposed to other charms, but sometimes players who aren't going to be as good as other players can appreciate keeping those training wheels on. ^^ But it is nice to see you broadening your opinion and seeing what the charms can offer, even if you're not the biggest fan of them or don't think they are as good as others. As well as whenever I watch you you are always there to give me a good laugh so that's always a bonus! Another amazing list video, even we don't always agree on charms haha
Yo, dude! Happy to see another helpful charm vid! Say, if you need an idea for content, I think it'd be cool to have an explanation of what charms are useless and what charms are better when doing Radiant fights. Just a thought. X)
As someone who actively uses steady body and nailmaster’s glory, I appreciate the analyses you gave them. Entirely removing that backwards momentum is actually a lot more helpful than some may think.
I started playing Hollow Knight 3 days ago for the first time and the 2 first charms you mentioned are actually staples for me already, funny to think they are not very much utilised by others! Nice video btw😆
I always use sharp shadow during pantheons and fighting bosses, makes hive knight more fun to play against, gives a safe option for attacking and allows you to go through slighty bigger bossed because of the dash length. I wouldn't recommend it for plat forming though, the platforming was not made for sharp shadow's dash length and can lead to unnecessary damage
Honestly it's nice to see more and more people recognizing carefree is actually really good, considering I was at one point literally screamed at for even *considering* using it over grimmchild. good times
Tbh, as someone who likes Grimm child for the pet builds, that alone is likely why I'll never get carefree melody. Neither charm is great but there's an opportunity cost to picking one over the other.
I found a lot of use from charms most people didn't look at when I was doing pantheons on my first playthrough specifically because my gave myself a rule to not use Quick Slash, Unbreakable Strength, Longnail and Mark of Pride because they were to strong and mindless. The build that I use for basically everything now is: Steady Body Dashmaster Sprintmaster Sharp Shadow Nailmaster's Glory Dream Wielder Dreamshield
Been using sharp shadow forever glad to see it’s been recognized (I don’t use it in the base game I use it in the pantheon) It makes bosses easier than pie, for example, Malik, both Crystal guardens, both false knights, traitor lord, and a couple more become not even a thought
grubsong is soooo underrated ...like u can literally go with that hive charm and grubsong and be unkillable in situations such as the white palace because it has actually helped me a lot there
Nailmaster's Glory was my STAR during my hollow knight playthrough even through most of the pantheons so I was always SO shocked whenever people would call it or the nail arts trash or just completely forget about them. I think it's primarily because when you get it and when you get the nail arts, you're already STEEPED in spell builds and soul and quick slash so you see this extra form of burst and you go "I could do that, or shoot 3 spells off instantly." But I really loved the 'attack between attacks' playstyle that the charm provided and it felt SO satisfying to hit bosses like NKGrimm and Zote while they weren't even in any of their 'official' openings
As someone who started the game and used pretty much only one charms and used steady charm constantly, it’s amazing and I legitimately can’t play without it now, same for Grubsong, and Longnail. Trust me Longnail + Steady Body has made me and Ariel threat and Grub Song is just OP because comboing it with firing spirits by purposely getting hit can end a boss fight quickly. Once I got used to the map I removed Compass and Thorns of Agony and added Soul Twister.
I think the fact that balders she’ll and carefree melody were both necessary to beat any radiance hitless shoes just how good they are. Also I think grubberflys elegy is really good for some radiant bosses, especially pure vessel
I'm currently getting terrorized by the "Pantheon of the Knight". Any Tipps how I can beat it? Charms, Technics or something? Edit: Thanks for the Comments, the are very helpful for me.🤗 I'll try to beat the Pantheon again today. Wish me Luck!😆
The best way to do the pantheons is to practice bosses you struggle against in the Hall of Gods on Ascended/Radiant until you can consistently beat them on Ascended and feel Radiant is at least within your reach (ie: you know and can fairly consistently dodge their whole moveset.)
@@Kadaspala it's mainly Pure Vessel I'm struggling against. The main Problem is me running out of Soul or running in his Attacks like an Idiot. I'm using a Spell-Build with 'Kingsoul'. It helps with my "Spell-Spam"-Strategy. It helped me beating Pure Vessel in the Hall of Gods.
Build: strengh, Quick slash, pride and Sharp shadow Enraged Guardian: Just beat him and Sharp shadow when he shoots laser Kin: be carefull, abuse Double hits from shade soul and make sure to kill all the infected ghosts in the battle No eyes: stay on the middle of the arena and only atack when she teleports near you Traitor lord: atack and when he lungees at you Just shadow dash with Sharp shadow on it. When he does the Shockwave, distance yourself a bit and dash throug Watcher Knights: same strat from lord, but with nails intead of claws Champ: jump over the sockwaves and atack as much as you Can when he goes down. Dream nail him and keep atacking It in the butt so he doens't get up until you're done healing Tyrant: easy enough to predict, only heal after the 6 energy ball atack VS: when he lungees at you, dash throug and hit him in the back, when he throw the swords, dash with shade cloak and hit him 3 times. For the Spike atack, Just stay still in the safezone. For the Focus atack, Ddark It and kept atacking him. The void tendril one Just Double jump over
Just realized that elegy and grubsong are perfect opposites rewarded by the same guy. One activates when hit, the other when no hits are taken. Grubsong is useful in all fights, elegy is useful in radiant ones (specifically markoth)
SHARP SHADOW BAYBEEEE I always have it on me (except in fog canyon....) Also I find it weird that some people look down on charms because they provide some cheap protection. I’ll take cheap protection, lol. Grubsong is part of my usual charm set, despite the fact that I can dodge attacks in a lot of fights, including NKG, whom I enjoy fighting for fun. When I do get hit, I get some soul! I won’t say no to that. It’s just part of my playstyle, I usually don’t like tanking bosses. I like playing it safe and being on as close to full health as possible at all times. (Silksong is gonna make me so anxious with its healing mechanics e_e) Weird that some people look down on that. Sounds kind of elitist.
Sprint master, Sharp shadow and dash master are all great for bosses actually, at least I thought so. With both it became so easy to dodge attack, heal if needed, position yourself, and continually dealing damage
Rusty here trying to find ways to use Carefree Melody Meanwhile I like it because my dumb ass can't keep myself out of harm's way long enough so getting... you know... not hit once in a while can really make a difference and allow me to actually... _not die..._
The first time I played this game I found brooding mawlek by accident, and I have to say that baldur shell really carried the fight. When you dont have shadow dash or desolate dive its the only thing that can avoid the damage from its charged attack, either that or being lucky af
Probably a very underrated charm combo is (shape of uun*quick focus*deep focus) and it's very usefull if you just dont want do die to easy It also uses 9 charm notches so if you are willing to give up attack charms i recomend it Its very usefull against enemys or bosses that do 2 mask dmg
i've used several underrated charms in my favorite build. a passive-agressively weaponized fart joke. defender's crest, spore shroom, and shape of unn, augmented with deep focus, grobsong and stalwart shell. with stalwart shell, the i-frames after a hit (1.75s) last longer than it takes to heal 2 masks and gas almost the whole screen (1.47s). with good timing, you're almost untouchable, and two blasts plus a bitchslap are enough to bring down a great sentri.
Ya know listening to Rusty rage about random shit has truly been helping me keep my sanity as I've been going through the White Palace. I can't play with the sound affects on lest I lose my sanity to the sound of screeching buzzsaws, so Rusty's witty little comentary has truly been a help
STEADY BODY AND SHARP SHADOW? Rustyyy. You shouldn't have. Finally my main charms are getting some love! The only place I don't recommend using Sharp Shadow is in is White Palace and Path of Pain. Every other place, this charm makes you dodge through attacks you don't even know you could've because you would've had to dash in the perfect damn pixel without the charm. More importantly, You can dash through Pure Vessels entire (skinny but) fat body WAAAY more easily, and with Steady body too you can just make that fight seem like an elegant, patient, duel.
Sprintmaster actually enabled me to beat Radiant Absolute Radiance for the first time. I just needed it that first time around to get accustomed how I should move to dodge current and potential attacks (i.e. positioning). I can do the fight Radiant and Charmless now, but Sprintmaster enabled me to get there. I was getting somewhat close before, but after I tossed that on, it was game changing. I've always used steady body. It's flat out OP. Same for Nailmaster's Glory. I run Strength, Quick Slash, Steady Body, Nailmaster's Glory, and either Mark of Pride or Shamans for P5. If you're going for raw damage, Shamans, but MoP is pretty good for select portions of the pantheon (such as the Marmu-Sheo split). All in all, it's an excellent and flexible build for dealing way to much damage way to fast, but those two charms make it what it is.
IMO grubberflies elegy is probably only useful in the delicate flower quest. It helps to keep enemies away and, hey, you’re not taking damage anyway so why not?
I'm not that good at boss fights i always end up dashing face first into the enemy. I turned my weakness into my main strategy with sharp shadow. So my play style revolves around smashing the enemies with my face, its more effective than i first expected it to be.
I think grubberfly’s elegy is pretty underrated. It’s either a straight up range or damage buff in radiant fights. If you’re focusing on staying at range, you might be dealing less damage and gaining less soul, but it’s undeniable that you’re safer. Meanwhile, staying up close lets you do massive damage. In addition, lifeblood heart and core let you take a few hits without losing it.
I think what people really sleep on with Nailmaster's Glory and in general with the nail arts is how much soul you can rack up with Mato's spinny cyclone slash. It hits way faster than the regular nail and in certain situations can be a great tool (I remember really feeling this when I first noticed it on how effective it is for oblobbles)
Sharp shadow is similar to shape of unn in the way that you can use it in so many subtle ways in boss fights, like you don't even need to pogo some of them anymore, just dash through and you'll have more time left than normal to cast another spell or even heal
I believe I've found more utility out of sharp shadow and shape of unn than most people. I'm a very cautious fighter and very prone to panic healing. As such, I really like shape of unn as it let me retreat from the boss and heal at the same time, plus, it made a healing window out of any attack that can be dodged without jumping or dashing. As for sharp shadow, well, I've always thought dashing more as evasion than movement in games, and shade dash gave me the confidence to get up close and personal with bosses knowing that if they tried wacking me, I could be behind them in a much better position in an instant. As for sharp shadow, well, if my evasion also got me some extra damage on the boss, then why not? Plus, it lengthened my dash , which gave me and my shitty timing a much bigger window to dodge attacks in. I found myself using it a lot in the traitor lord fight for, well, obvious reasons.
YES FINALLY ANOTHER SHARP SHADOW STAN In all seriousness, there are clearly benefits to this charm. If you can justify the learning curve for steady body, you can justify the benefits of a longer dash. Want to dash through failed champion? Sharp Shadow. Want to stack up your damage on traitor lord, since your shadow dash is perfectly timed to match his attacks? Sharp Shadow. Want free hits if pure vessel? Sharp Shadow.
Has anybody else noticed or appreciated how much comfier he's gotten lately? Like dropped his persona a bit I mean, it's kind of nice, just relaxing and listening to him now. I mean the anger is definitely fun to watch, but there's something to be said for just being comfortable with talking
Here's my Interpretations of at least half or more than half of these charms as a Terraria player: #1 is basically a Cobalt Shield for YOUR attacks instead of damage you take. (Cobalt Shield in-game negates any Knockback done to the player) #4 is a Tabi without the extra long range of a Tabi Dash with additional movement downwards (Tabi in-game is a navy blue samurai sandal sock that provides a large dash. Think the Knight's dash but three times longer and faster.) #5 is a Piercing Shield of Cthulhu (Shield of Cthulhu in-game is a shield bash item you can equip to avoid or charge enemies to deal damage. In addition, I wish we had this) #7 is (forgive me if I butcher the name or item entirely, don't play mage often) Celestial Cuffs. Upon any damage taken, you receive mana in return. #8 is the Black Belt. Has a chance to completely mitigate any damage you may take upon being hit. (don't know percentage chance, just know that's what it does) #10 is an Anklet of the Wind or an Aglet depending on your preference because they can increase your base speed outside of sprinting accessories. (Personally, I prefer Both as many other Terrarians will tell you the same because you craft these into a super movement accessory if you have everything you need) Thank you for reading this list if you find it in the 628 comments at the time of writing. I'll be looking at the Worst Charms Video you have, Rusty, to see if any of those ones match up to any in-game too and if the opinions are shared because this video didn't need any explanations by me for their worth in Terraria as the same things you said about these charms could be said about those accessories. P.S. I wish we had some of the functionality that some of these charms have in Terraria. Edit: Added a few words, described an item or two and added P.S. message.
I'm on my first playthrough right now and I found and really like steady body, I took it off briefly for the compass charm to make navigating the mushroom area a little easier and immediately missed having it when I fell off a ledge from the backwards momentum.
I think you forgot about grubsong’s synergy with weaversong. It makes the weaverlings collect soul for you, so it’s basically a better version of kingsoul for only three charm notches, and with passive damage to enemies as well. Not to mention how it’s an excuse to keep sprintmaster on. For just 4 charm notches you’ve got an all purpose synergy, with plenty of room for spell charms. So yeah, grubsong is okay, but it makes weaversong really good, and that’s what I like about it.
I think carefree melody is underrated if you think of it more of it as insurance then u see its potential since it's one of my charms put on a must for steel soul mode
Nailmaster's Glory completely just clicked with me the first time I unlocked it. It is my absolute favorite charm, because I just mesh really well with the hit-and-run strategy it enables.
Same. I can't really appreciate the nail build, especially the Strength charm. I beat my first playthrough long before Grim Trope DLC and having to go back to fix Fragile Strength every 30 minutes was insanely annoying.
usualy really depends on your own preferred playstyle. I managed to beat the first 4 pantheons with pure nail charms (quick slash, mark of pride, longnail, unbreakable strength), however that is probably because i played the whole game this way - slash everything and soul is for healing. If you focused more on using spells to kill everything, then Shaman stone is probably your best friend, along with the "more soul per enemy hit" charms and maybe nail lengthening charms (mark and longnail). There is also the spawner build - Glowing womb, Weaversong, Grimchild, Grubsong, etc. - just dodge and be patient, the bosses should die eventually
Unbreakable Strenght/Quick Slash/Mark of Pride if you like nail attacks, Shaman Stone/Spell Twister/Soul Eater if you like spells. You can swap Mark of Pride for Long Nail and Soul Eater for Soul Catcher to slot in Quick Focus if you're unsure of when and where you can heal. You can even do Strenght/Quick Slash/Shaman Stone/Spell Twister for *MAXIMUM DAMAGE*. None of this is gonna save you if you don't know the bosses' attack patterns and damage windows. Practice bosses you have trouble with in the Hall of Gods, make sure you can beat them like 3 times in a row before jumping in for another run. Take it slow and dodge more rather than attacking, the charmsets are there to compensate. If all else fails, look up vids of people demolishing bosses and steal their strategies. Everything else is up to you!
Try out different charm sets, don't let people tell you what to use. In P5 in particular, I generally switch charms at just about every bench, to adapt for the incoming wave and also just for fun.
As a more casual player, Sharp Shadow was integral for me beating NKG because I was dodging a large portion of his attacks by dashing through him. Getting that free damage while I focused on dodging was super useful

That duo is honestly better than soul eater in some cases, for one less notch.
And honestly, pet builds are really fun just for the lulz. It makes it easy to go full pet build (Grimm child, weaver song, glowing womb, grub song, and sprint master). And that's such a cheap build, that you even save notches too, so you can throw in an extra charm or two for anything else that you want.

I don’t know what is more respectable: the fact that you understand the true power of Nailmaster’s glory but you wrote a whole essay on it.
If I were to use this build, I would use unb heart/strength.
love using spell twister in boss fights, being able to blast 4 abyss shrieks in a row can be a huge advantage
Ah yes, I too am part of the "scream until they die" gang
The most underrated charm is clearly the Hornet DLC, nobody ever even got it.
Name checks out
It's underrated because it's never been rated
I find Sprintmaster heavily useful in fights like Pure Vessel and Absrad. The former teleports a bunch, so Steady Body makes it easier to keep up with them; the latter has attacks like the orbs and radial beams from which Sprintmaster gives more leeway for running away.
Finally someone who recognises my baby sharp shadow as a good charm
I've always found sharp shadow useful, especially for bosses like traitor lord
Sharp Shadow is the MVP for Pure Vessel
I’ve always loved sharp shadow, mainly because it lets you dash through wider enemies more easily, like the Nailmasters and Failed Champion
Its come to a point i'm too comfortable with sharp shadow that normal dash feels awkward
@@bungbananaman I definitely agree. Too bad I still cant beat him though
FINALLY someone who APPRECIATES STEADY BODY
Madame Rhapsody’s most seen video is showing that steady body is good
Nice UA pfp
IKR
More and more people now
i think basically all top players think sbody is a really good charm but it is great to see a more known youtuber making a video about it
"so what if it makes platforming akward, you're bad anyways!" i friggin died man
But is he wrong is the question we are all asking
Steady body
Grubsong 3:58
Shape of Unn 5:59
Dashmaster 8:10
5 sharp shadow 10:00
Baldur shell 10:55
Spelltwister 12:10
8 carefree melody 13:56

Grubsong is actually a REALLY good charm for platforming if deep focus is equipped as well. When you get hit 2 times, you get enough soul to heal once, BUT deep focus heals you two masks, so you can always stay at full health. So yeah, i recommend grubsong + deep focus.
You actually end up covering a minuscule amount, I think two grubsong hits give you 30 soul and it costs 33 to heal. But before I found hiveblood grubsong and deep focus carried me through the white palace
Grubsong for 1 hit gives 15 soul, but heal cost 33. So if you don't have grubberfly elegy, thats bust grubsong to 25 i think this won't work
@@publiclydeceased7630 Hiveblood requires a 15 seconds wait. The slight loss of soul is more than worth it if you can avoid that.
@@legrandliseurtri7495 agreed, lifeblood takes way to long. I uneqipped my second time through (died to those blasted watcher knights)
@@publiclydeceased7630 I'm still stuck on the watcher knights lol, any tips?

I always liked sharp shadow but this montage made me like it even more
I was waiting for Sharp Shadow the entire time, and i absolutely love how you treated it.
"I cannot justify liking this, but i like it."
Also, I assume you know it makes your shade dash longer.
@@coolbeans7096 Honestly the only reason i use it
i always loved sharp shadow. it's a must have for my every playthrough
Sadly, on my main save file, I only have grimmchild:(
@@legrandliseurtri7495 you can install mods to swap careful melody for grimmchild
I don't really wear it for regular travel across the map, but for pantheons it's the first charm that gets equiped.
carefree is the best thing in this goddamn world on anything that deals double damage
*HE'S POSITIVE!*
THIS VIDEO IS GONNA BE POSITIVE AS
FUUUUUCK
Honestly I can't live without Steady Body, so I'm glad that Rusty finally covered it
Ive honestly just used the same charm layout since my 3rd playthrough, so I mostly watch this kind of video to see what other charms can do in the right hands knowing damn well I won’t change
I'm not sure how much of these videos rusty will make, I dont even remember how much videos like this
For Hollow Knight being my first metroidvania game I appreciate a charm like Grubsong. ^^
But it is nice to see you broadening your opinion and seeing what the charms can offer, even if you're not the biggest fan of them or don't think they are as good as others.
“I’ve been getting really intimately involved with Hollow Knight lately..”
*looks at Rusty’s channel*
Wow really? I hadn’t noticed
The build that I use for basically everything now is:
Steady Body
Dashmaster
Sprintmaster
Sharp Shadow
Nailmaster's Glory
Dream Wielder
Dreamshield
Been using sharp shadow forever glad to see it’s been recognized
(I don’t use it in the base game I use it in the pantheon)
It makes bosses easier than pie, for example, Malik, both Crystal guardens, both false knights, traitor lord, and a couple more become not even a thought
MALIK???
Combining Grubsong with weaversong makes it so you never run out of soul. Every time a weaver hits an enemy it gives you a little bit of soul.
grubsong is soooo underrated ...like u can literally go with that hive charm and grubsong and be unkillable in situations such as the white palace because it has actually helped me a lot there
Nailmaster's Glory was my STAR during my hollow knight playthrough even through most of the pantheons so I was always SO shocked whenever people would call it or the nail arts trash or just completely forget about them.
I think it's primarily because when you get it and when you get the nail arts, you're already STEEPED in spell builds and soul and quick slash so you see this extra form of burst and you go "I could do that, or shoot 3 spells off instantly."
But I really loved the 'attack between attacks' playstyle that the charm provided and it felt SO satisfying to hit bosses like NKGrimm and Zote while they weren't even in any of their 'official' openings
I think it'd be neat to have a charm that when attacking, a smaller, less powerful slash executes behind the knight.
Man, Carefree Melody is the only reason I managed to beat Failed Champ. That charm saved me damn near a full 11 masks when I fought the boss
carefree was a big reason i beat nightmare king grimm so fast
also, using carefree on nkg is hilarious (i killed him in godhome after banishment)
I think the fact that balders she’ll and carefree melody were both necessary to beat any radiance hitless shoes just how good they are. Also I think grubberflys elegy is really good for some radiant bosses, especially pure vessel
She'll?
Using carefree melody while doing the mask binding was helpful
I'm currently getting terrorized by the "Pantheon of the Knight". Any Tipps how I can beat it? Charms, Technics or something?
Edit: Thanks for the Comments, the are very helpful for me.🤗 I'll try to beat the Pantheon again today. Wish me Luck!😆
Kill the bosses
put quickslash on. Seriously. Best charm in the game. also ubreakeable strength if you have it
The best way to do the pantheons is to practice bosses you struggle against in the Hall of Gods on Ascended/Radiant until you can consistently beat them on Ascended and feel Radiant is at least within your reach (ie: you know and can fairly consistently dodge their whole moveset.)
Build: strengh, Quick slash, pride and Sharp shadow
Enraged Guardian: Just beat him and Sharp shadow when he shoots laser
Kin: be carefull, abuse Double hits from shade soul and make sure to kill all the infected ghosts in the battle
No eyes: stay on the middle of the arena and only atack when she teleports near you
Traitor lord: atack and when he lungees at you Just shadow dash with Sharp shadow on it. When he does the Shockwave, distance yourself a bit and dash throug
Watcher Knights: same strat from lord, but with nails intead of claws
Champ: jump over the sockwaves and atack as much as you Can when he goes down. Dream nail him and keep atacking It in the butt so he doens't get up until you're done healing
Tyrant: easy enough to predict, only heal after the 6 energy ball atack
VS: when he lungees at you, dash throug and hit him in the back, when he throw the swords, dash with shade cloak and hit him 3 times. For the Spike atack, Just stay still in the safezone. For the Focus atack, Ddark It and kept atacking him. The void tendril one Just Double jump over
Finally someone who values sharp shadow... You just got a sub!
Just realized that elegy and grubsong are perfect opposites rewarded by the same guy. One activates when hit, the other when no hits are taken. Grubsong is useful in all fights, elegy is useful in radiant ones (specifically markoth)
15:51 he's literally me fr fr
"What does it matter if it makes platforming awkward? You're fucking bad at it anyway!"
TRUTH. XD
Oh cool! I thought u were done with these videos till silksong comes out. Love these videos
Ngl I never realized how beneficial steady body was until I started seeing pro charm builds. It's such a cool hidden gem!
SHARP SHADOW BAYBEEEE I always have it on me (except in fog canyon....)
Also I find it weird that some people look down on charms because they provide some cheap protection.
Grubsong is still my favorite charm, even after all the time recently that I spent on radiant bosses lol. Fuck radiant absrad btw.
Sprint master, Sharp shadow and dash master are all great for bosses actually, at least I thought so.
With both it became so easy to dodge attack, heal if needed, position yourself, and continually dealing damage
Sharp Shadow will always be one of my favorites
Advanced players on their way to call every charm that isn’t a dps boost a training wheel:
Rusty here trying to find ways to use Carefree Melody
Meanwhile I like it because my dumb ass can't keep myself out of harm's way long enough so getting... you know... not hit once in a while can really make a difference and allow me to actually... _not die..._
Rusty voice is very soothing when he isn’t wishing death on everything
ya i love watching this vid just because of that
Steady Body is the king of op charms that are criminally underrated
If this comment was made 4 months ago, I would agree, but currently, after everyone made video on this, steady body isn't underrated at all
Dreamshield. Need I say more?
@@zeed8102 haha, fair enough. Never tried it myself tho. 3 notches I could be using on quickslash or strength
The first time I played this game I found brooding mawlek by accident, and I have to say that baldur shell really carried the fight. When you dont have shadow dash or desolate dive its the only thing that can avoid the damage from its charged attack, either that or being lucky af
that sharp shadow commercial is the greatest thing ever and it makes me feel validated as a sharp shadow user.
Probably a very underrated charm combo is (shape of uun*quick focus*deep focus)
and it's very usefull if you just dont want do die to easy
It also uses 9 charm notches so if you are willing to give up attack charms i recomend it
Its very usefull against enemys or bosses that do 2 mask dmg
That bit with the Sharp Shadow just earned you a like, sir.
8:06 hehe... guess you had a _bone_ to pick with that charm...
i've used several underrated charms in my favorite build. a passive-agressively weaponized fart joke.
defender's crest, spore shroom, and shape of unn, augmented with deep focus, grobsong and stalwart shell.
with stalwart shell, the i-frames after a hit (1.75s) last longer than it takes to heal 2 masks and gas almost the whole screen (1.47s).
with good timing, you're almost untouchable, and two blasts plus a bitchslap are enough to bring down a great sentri.
Finally, more rusty videos
This was incredibly informative and entertaining!
Sharp shadow!!!! My boy sharp shadow is all grown up and making it onto underrated charms lists!!!!! Brings a tear to my eye!!
Sharp shadow is similar to shape of unn in the way that you can use it in so many subtle ways in boss fights, like you don't even need to pogo some of them anymore, just dash through and you'll have more time left than normal to cast another spell or even heal
8:08 I honestly loved dashmaster when I got it, I always use it when in the overworld
Another charm list video...I love it!!!
The Sharp Shadow bit makes me think you'd be an amazing monster truck rallet announcer.
YES FINALLY ANOTHER SHARP SHADOW STAN
In all seriousness, there are clearly benefits to this charm.

“The more I say this charm the more it sounds like a stress medication” -rusty
Has anybody else noticed or appreciated how much comfier he's gotten lately? Like dropped his persona a bit I mean, it's kind of nice, just relaxing and listening to him now. I mean the anger is definitely fun to watch, but there's something to be said for just being comfortable with talking
Here's my Interpretations of at least half or more than half of these charms as a Terraria player:
#1 is basically a Cobalt Shield for YOUR attacks instead of damage you take. (Cobalt Shield in-game negates any Knockback done to the player)
#4 is a Tabi without the extra long range of a Tabi Dash with additional movement downwards (Tabi in-game is a navy blue samurai sandal sock that provides a large dash. Think the Knight's dash but three times longer and faster.)
#5 is a Piercing Shield of Cthulhu (Shield of Cthulhu in-game is a shield bash item you can equip to avoid or charge enemies to deal damage. In addition, I wish we had this)
#7 is (forgive me if I butcher the name or item entirely, don't play mage often) Celestial Cuffs. Upon any damage taken, you receive mana in return.
#8 is the Black Belt. Has a chance to completely mitigate any damage you may take upon being hit. (don't know percentage chance, just know that's what it does)
#10 is an Anklet of the Wind or an Aglet depending on your preference because they can increase your base speed outside of sprinting accessories. (Personally, I prefer Both as many other Terrarians will tell you the same because you craft these into a super movement accessory if you have everything you need)
Thank you for reading this list if you find it in the 628 comments at the time of writing.

Wasting 4 notches on useless thing is still bad, even if its synergy
I think carefree melody is underrated if you think of it more of it as insurance then u see its potential since it's one of my charms put on a must for steel soul mode
I’m surprised there was never a charm that decreases shade cloak cooldown. I mean it seems a little op but I feel it could be very useful
Rusty channel is the hollow knight sanctuary
Nailmaster's Glory completely just clicked with me the first time I unlocked it. It is my absolute favorite charm, because I just mesh really well with the hit-and-run strategy it enables.
Same. I can't really appreciate the nail build, especially the Strength charm. I beat my first playthrough long before Grim Trope DLC and having to go back to fix Fragile Strength every 30 minutes was insanely annoying.
What is the Best Charn Set for the Pantheon of the Sage, Pantheon of the Knight and Pantheon of Hallownest? I really want to beat them.
usualy really depends on your own preferred playstyle.
Git gud
Try out different charm sets, don't let people tell you what to use. In P5 in particular, I generally switch charms at just about every bench, to adapt for the incoming wave and also just for fun.
As a more casual player, Sharp Shadow was integral for me beating NKG because I was dodging a large portion of his attacks by dashing through him. Getting that free damage while I focused on dodging was super useful
