Most of these games do pretty good in terms of LOOKING snowy, but what Rockstar and Naughty Dog do above the rest is consider how the protagonist feels IN those weather conditions. Aloy will cycle through animations but she quickly defaults back to neutral (across both Horizon games). However in RDR2 and Part 2, it's not simply a case of cycling through idle animations but the player is set fixed in perpetual state of cold. A real sense of the harsh conditions as Arthur and Ellie shiver, look tired and almost in pain from the chill.
I disagree. TLOU2 and RDR2 might have prettier looking effects, but Death Stranding was the only game on this entire list where they actually changed the walking animation. Deep snow is not easy to walk in and every single game other than Death Stranding failed to demonstrate the effort and difficulty.

@@Emerald-X It's a great story. Glad I eventually played it for myself. Joel dying saving Ellie in a blaze of glory late in the campaign would have been a pointless, trash story and doesn't fit TLOU. It's supposed to be a tragedy about a character losing the most important person in the world to them, it hallowing them out, and the journey back to some semblance of their old self, perhaps too late. That's the character arch. Sarah and Joel's deaths were tough to stomach but they were needed. Losing Joel just as Ellie was trying to forgive him is way more interesting than her running away when she finds out, getting into trouble and then Joel dying saving her. lol. If you keep Joel alive in TLOU2 much longer just to appease people, then you delay the main themes, water the story down and don't have enough character development for a full game.

Because rockstar is literally another tier, only naughty dog comes close to them. Remember that the last of us is a lot detailed but its only a story that you play, i mean it only has le levels while rdr2 is a big open world full of missions and secondary and its still the most detailed game ever. I tell you its other tier because they made an extremely huge open world that feels really alive better detailed than all level only or open world games with an insane graphic for a ps4. So extremely well optimised and very advanced for its time
