He now feels much more useful. Not only is he the God Loki instead of some kid, he also helped Kratos take down multiple Gods, and even allowed Kratos to kill Baldr with the mistletoe.

yes it's an evolution of the same with some scenes set during a different time/weather or artistic changes, but it's also polished up and improved where it was needed digital foundry did a good video explaining...games like this already looked more than good enough compared to most...i mean of course eventually we will get that next entry that will blow our minds further, but until then just enjoy this amazing great looking game folks

I love how some areas by just having a bit of a different hue or color palette like in Alfheim, things look so much better! The harsh blue lighting in Midgard makes things look very sharp.
On top of that, I thought Muspelheim looked absolutely amazing in 2018, but even that has seen an amazing improvement. The lava effects look much better!
2018 still holds up graphical but ragnorok got it as it should it's the newer version can't wait to play it in a few days 🔥

Can we just admire how much better the weapons look in ragnarok though? I mean they just look so amazing with the right amount of gold, they look sharper especially the ax, the blades in general just look cooler and they retain more of their signature look too they just look really good.

More than anything else, it is the lighting in Ragnarok that makes the game look so much better... But as others have mentioned, that is a testament to how good the original game looked all those years ago. I am sure Ragnarok will be way more impressive on the PC though, with raytracing... depending on how it is implemented of course.
I was hoping for a bigger leap in visuals with the new God of war but it's more a refinement of the PC version of the game, which is still good but considering God of War is on a new gen console with the PS5, it could have been so much more.
Will be interesting to see what refinements they do on the PC version in the future, but even if there is little to none, it would still look great.
Mind you, there are some areas that look worse than the PC version, like when he threw his axe in the water.

2018 is still looking amazing and will look so for years, also in Ragnarok all worlds changed due to Fimbulwinter so the lighting changed significantly therefore. I like how they improved physics and details in GoWR, I'm going through it at the moment and almost finished the main line, can't wait to begin Valhalla. Ragnarok feels so much longer and more diverse than GoW, but even in 2018 It was absolutely not a short game. These are the games which can cause the gaming impotence for some period after you finish them since in terms of overall quality of each gaming aspect it's a tough challenge to find anything similar to it...

@Patrik Szitai kratos is never angry in except during spartan rage, and atreus in danger. Best thing about ragnarok is that it has smooth combat. Camera never shakes violently, causing disruptions in visuals
Watching a side by side I think actually helps with people not thinking it was an improvement graphically at all. And this is the PC 2018 with much better graphics.
bro, pc version is at max. Whereas ragnarok on PS5 runs at most settings with medium. Textures are at ultra, shadows are at high(comparable to RDR2 high shadows), soft shadows at max, reflection quality is at high(not max), ambient occlusion medium, volumetrics medium(For reference, look at RDR2 volumetric quality on PC with medium, both are exactly same, lighting quality is at medium, with geometric lighting illumination at max. And most importantly, model quality is also at medium(popping of models are visible at some places when immediately turning camera to a place, or running). If it comes to PC, then the game will require rtx 4080 for max 1080p lol

The ragnarok's version of Kratos doesn't seem to be as much promising as the predecessor one! 😅 What's noticable is the skin texture in ragnarok which looks like all lotioned up to fight the eerie winter skin roughness!😛

Both look great, but 2018 still had quite a few shortcomings even when maxed on PC including very unstable shadows, unrealistic water reflections and quite a bit of ugly foliage. All of those seem to be addressed, so I'm looking forward to finishing the first one and hopping into the second one right after that.
А як на рахунок снігу? Бойовка відчувається трохи інакше. Нема тих долі секунди анімації. Коли сокира застрягає в противнику. Ворогів стало більше. Босів. Але нема тих фірмових добивань як в 2018 році. Освітлення стало краще. Але певний даунгрейл присутній в грі.
but i have to say the particles in first game were more impressive and the elementals of the weapons in fights felt much more damaging and epic - that feeling of the weapons felt more powerful in the GOW 2018. liked that more but Ragnarok is wonderfull game also no doubt about it

@@QM-qg9ee así como infinitamente no, pero si es mejor, puesto que se rediseño, otro aspecto a tener en cuenta es que con aloy te puedes centrar solo en su cara y pelo, ya que el resto es vestimenta, en Kratos debes enfocarte en su musculatura, lo cual añade mas detalles fisicos, y por lo que se ve, puedo estar equivocado, el Kratos de ragnarok y el anterior sigue siendo el mismo, es decir, no se rediseño el personaje, por ende puede arrastrar una menor calidad, otro punto a tener en cuenta, es que Guerrilla, son los creadores del motor Decima, por ende pueden sacarlo mucho mayor rendimiento.

Los 2 se ven muy bien. Gran salto no creo como afirman muchos. La iluminación mejora un poco, las texturas tienen la misma calidad pero en Ragnarok se ven más variadas, las físicas con el entorno también mejoró. Pero como dicen muchos, no es un salto significativo. Sólo perfeccionaron lo que ya estaba bien de por sí.

Lol, ragnarok may look convincing in graphics, but actually, it is the same as gow 2018 with some refinements. Most important refinements are reflection resolution, global illumination, texture resolution and shadows. In GOW 2018, shadows even at ultra at some places look absolutely terrible, like they look as if we are playing at lowest resolution

Carece de carisma, peso narrativo en el juego, y mantiene la misma base que dark souls 1. Pero ahora en un mundo abierto muy repetitivo. Pienso desde necesita renovar sus franquicias, sobre todo la forma de construir un juego.
See people have to understand that they mostly went for looks over play style which is why most of the things Kratos does is the same as the first one. Which in my opinion is great, also one other thing is they made the ronic attacks into combos which is why so far they don’t look as cool which is also better in my opinion not to mention executions with the chaos blades looks badass and brutal

Snow behavior mostly looks better in the original, not because Ragnarök shows a downgrade, though. It is more that they changed the art direction for it and the approach for the dynamics of it.

hay cosas que se ven mejor en el primero y otras en Ragnarok, por ejemplo, me gusta mucho más como luce kratos en la primera entrega.
Kratos se ve igual, pero ahora tiene mejores texturas y se le mueve la barba
A mi personalmente me gustan más las partículas de las espadas del caos del primer GoW.

Kratos si cambio y es porque su personaje fue completamente remodelado desde 0 para Ragnarok. Entre los cambios está: Su barba es más canosa, su piel más blanca, sus labios denotan resequedad, tiene más marcada su cicatriz. Yo igual prefiero el modelo del 2018.
Se ve mucho mejor el modelo de Kratos del 2018, el color de piel mucho más realista, el nuevo lo hicieron demasiado blanco y las facciones menos realistas.

Cambiemos el filtro, mejoremos un poco la iluminación y listo juego nuevo. Los cambios son nada, comparados con lo que pudo ser si no fuera cross gen, ni modo a esperar al siguiente, para ver un salto más grande

@@s-real9590 si multicuentas es encerio, pero solo hablando de gráficos no es un salto tan grande, se entiende por ser un crossgen pero, si santamonica studio lo hubiera hecho solo para PS5, sería tan real que podría oler las cenizas en el cuerpo de Kratos.

Aparte el juego comenzó su desarrollo antes que la ps5 saliera,era obvio qur saldria para ps4 por qur es donde se comenzó a hacer originalmente

Huge upgrade. Lighting and depth in Ragnarok is leagues ahead of GoW 2018
It's mainly the same technology with the only changes being a screen space gi sum soft shadows and tesselated hardware... It's not that bug of a different but a welcome one 💅unless your talking about art work I can see why you think the graphics are way better
Looks like Baked in Lighting vs better light shading and physics. I'd love Ray Tracing on the 2018 game. Look at the shot of Atreus in 2018. He looks like he's standing in a shadow but there's nothing but bright sunshine all around him... It just looks weird.

Ragnarok is a tad bit nicer, but they are generally almost the same.
But it's the PC version, not de PS4 version. I'm sure the gap between console is much more apparent.

@@abhirupkundu8525 God of war 2018 is on PC Ultra and Ragnarok is on PS5. I was saying that if the first god of war was on ps4 the gap with Ragnarok on ps5 would have been more impressive.
the lighting was a bit more appealing to me in the last game, but everything else is way better
Kratos model looks better but it seems like all the other character models (like atreus) have actually lost detail/look less realistic... maybe its their coloring?
Por qué le molesta a la gente que digan que es DLC o que no tiene tanto cambio?
Realmente no tiene mayor mejora gráfica, pero es que el primero se sigue viendo muy bien, además no que lo importante es la historia?
Esta es la version de PC que barre 7 veces por el suelo a la version de ps4 y aun así se ve que la mejora grafica está y eso viendolo por YT, lo que no hay es cambio en cuanto al estilo artístico, y es totalmente valido. Yo lo que veo es que para ser segun ser un DLC ha dejado a mucha vente ardida y llorando, buscando hasta analisis del congo donde le dieron un 7 para sentirse un poco mejor 🤌
@@kevin00l6 Para tu información, hasta youtubers con 0 críticas en videojuegos han puntuado en metacritik, y a eso sumale que las notas por debajo de la media no cuentan para la nota final jajaja ¿Como se entiende eso? XD así que por mucho que le hayan dado un 6 en el Congo, no influye en la nota ya que como no les interesa no la tienen en cuenta

Madre mía vaya DLC de 80 pavos, cuando esté en PC lo jugaré a precio reducido pero pagar lo que van a pedir por un DLC me parece una estafa en toda regla.
