- The models of some characters and other assets have been reused from The Last of Us Part II.
- The Last of Us Part I recreates reflections using SSR, cubemaps or planar reflections. There is no presence of any kind of Ray-Tracing in this remake.
- The most radical changes are in textures, geometry and lighting.
- Improved AI and animations make combat a more satisfying, but conservative experience. Most of the features added in Part II (dodging, crawling, etc) are not present.
- I'm preparing another comparison that compares in depth all aspects of the remake with respect to the original game.
- Fidelity mode adds considerable input lag. On the other hand, the vsync causes the game to not feel fluid at all (exactly like Demon's Souls Remake). I recommend the 1440p/60fps mode.
- With a 120Hz TV, the Fidelity mode locks its framerate down to 40fps. This mode has some irregularities in its performance.
- If you have a VRR-compatible display, we can activate it in Performance mode to get a variable rate ranging from 60 to 90fps.
- Loading times are slower on PS5 compared to PS4, but reasonable considering the visual improvements. In any case, these load times are much faster than on PS3.
- As a curiosity and personal opinion, I do not usually use the Dualsense adaptive triggers, but in this game its application seemed to me quite successful.
- Absence of Multiplayer. Let's hope that The Last of Us Factions justifies this lack. On the other hand, new difficulty modes have been added and some gameplay modifiers that will be analyzed in another video.
- Considering that on a visual level it is on par with The Last of Us Part II, this remake could have been possible on PS4.

PS3 is the most impressive.
Impressive meaning that it’s a surprise a game like that ran so well on that old platform, but then again, Ghost of Tsushima was also super impressive game on PS4.
What I’m saying is that SONY’s last exclusive game on a platform is usually so impressive it holds its own on the next generation.

It makes sense that ps3 could catch up to that generation so easily, it was a very expensive hardware to its time, so it was almost like a mistake from Sony. Being expensive is not the point of a console. Xbox 360 only had its turn because a ps3 was too expensive, so many people preferred to buy the Xbox 360.
The folks at Naughy Dog are amazing. They squeeze every last bit they can out of the hardware

As crazy as it might sound, to me the PS3 version is still the most impressive, specially because it was running on just 256mb of VRAM DDR3 and still looks amazing to this day.
The PS3 had a beast of a hardware.

It's nice to finally see one of these videos where there actually is a difference between the 2 and not just slight frame rate or quality. Having played both the PS3 and PS4 versions I still wouldn't pay €70 for the PS5 version as it's still the same game with a fresh coat of paint but I can at least see a lot of work has been done on it. Loading time on PS5 while quick could be a bit quicker since it's meant to boast super fast loading times. Still pretty fast though and I get it's loading waaaaay more higher quality content than the older versions
I haven't watch the full video yet but I wonder if there is a quick resume thing as in when you quit the game you can instantly go back to where you where and skip the startup screen. Some PS5 games have this and others don't. Seems to be developer optional
1 year after luckily you can buy it at a 40-45 dollar price, way better than the 70-80 of last year
La verdad es bastante alta la calidad del desarrollador, para todo aquel que jamás jugó el de PS3 o el remaster de PS4 o apenas es su primera consola de Sony es una compra obligada, solo recomendaría esperar, ya que aún siendo un remake de un juego que ya se veía espectacular en PS4 siento que el precio completo es muy alto. La versión de PS3 fue tan pero tan God que a día de hoy aún sigue viéndose fascinante, ni me quiero imaginar por el trabajo arduo por lo que tuvieron que trabajar sus en desarollodores en esos momentos, en cuanto a la versión de PS5 simple y sencillamente dió un salto enorme y mejor lo que creíamos que era inmejorable.
I like the part where you mentioned that ps4 could handle this game considering part 2 graphics. I haven't seen any reviewers mentioned that fact.
People believe that the PS4 is completely outdated and therefore not capable of handling advanced graphics. While the PS5 is able to handle more, the PS4 still holds up well.

The remake is beautiful and the remaster is not bad at all (it's rare to see games at 60fps on the base PS4 and native 4K on the PS4 Pro), but can we talk about how the PS3 version remains impressive for the hardware to this day?
It still amazes me how they managed this with the PS3, I would even say it's prettier than some early PS4 and Xbox One games.
For sure it is. In the same sense I think Part 2 (which came out on PS4) looks better than a lot of PS5 games - maybe not from a technical standpoint, but just in terms of overall realism, level of detail, etc. Naughty Dog knocks it out of the park every time.
Night and day playing on next gen Performance mode. This game is just absolutely beautiful. I appreciate the work has been done on the Remake. It made an amazing game even more amazing. Was it necessary? Absolutely not. But I’m thoroughly enjoying the game.

I think overall Joel's eyes are closer together and to make Ellie look younger they made her kid head rounder.

The difference in visuals between PS5 Fidelity and Performance is a lot larger than I would have expected.
The only difference is resolution 1440p performance and native 4k fidelity

When I played the original, _it looked to me like the remake looks like now._ This game is one of my favorite in regards to graphics.
Looks fookin stunning in comparison to the already decent-looking PS4 remaster. There's been tons of complete reworking. Definitely the best way to experience TLOU by far. Can't wait to play it at some point 😁

Definitivamente se ve estupendo en PS5 pues es la consola más potente de Sony. Pero es impresionante lo bien que se ve en el PS3 a pesar del tiempo en el que se lanzó el juego. Excelente video! 👍👍

wow that AI sure is a big upgrade they just all advance on you at the same time while aiming so even if you do pop up you just instantly get shot i felt the upgrade aswell when playing they constantly flanked me and they where fast and quiet
La verdad en Ps5 la iluminación no me gustó, tiene ese efecto matrix que no me convence, como muy frio, siento que en las versiones anteriores la iluminación tenía algo especial tanto en la mañana, tarde y noche según mi punto de vista.
X2, la paleta de colores en el de PS5 se ve más apagada.
Porque es mas realista en ese sentido

Looks good, but not worth a re-buy for full price, unless of course you were one of the weirdos/lucky ones who never experienced the original game for one reason or another. Not including Part 2's features was a missed opportunity too.

Yes, Part I could technically run on PS4, but it would likely have to make compromises:
- Larger file size than PS5 due to non-optimized file decompression.
- Longer load times, and may not be able to make the same seamless transitions made on PS5 due to the PS4 HDD.
- PS4: 1080p / 30fps
- PS4 Pro: 1440p / 30fps Resolution Mode, 1080p, 60fps Performance Mode
It's not that big of a deal. It would likely run pretty much identically to how TLOU2 did on PS4. Plus lots of people still put up with PS4 loading times and larger game sizes. Nothing shown off here isn't possible or already shown off on the PS4

Para ser un juego que sale en una sola consola (y posteriormente tendrá un port en pc) y dice aprovechar a full las capacidades de la misma, la optimización se queda un poco corta en mi opinión.

@@TheAlanmoreno Si, pero si no incluyeron las mecanicas de esquiva en el primero es porque no daba para mas la consola, en el 2 la esquiva es magia negra incluso para una Ps4..
Para mi gusto si debieron meterlo, la de veces que he necesitado esquivar porque se te echan encima en el 1 🤣. Quiza el tema arrastrarse no, porque el diseño de escenarios no esta pensado para arrastrarse, no tendría sentido meterlo, aportaria 0, pero esquivar hubiera quedado de la leche y no veo ningun motivo para no meterlo. Si quieres las mecanicas del original, ya tienes el original, que lo puedes jugar en Ps5 sin problema. Es el gran fallo que le veo a este remake.

I'll never get tired of playing this game and I will eventually get this version,but not at £65. Would have been a decent gesture by Sony to offer it at half pice to anyone whose PS+ account shows a purchase of the PS4 remaster.
However, highly recommended to anyone yet to play it.

I just cancelled my preorder, It looks beautiful but the gameplay Is the same as the original. They missed the opportunity to add TLOU PII moves (Dodge and crawl)
Eh, but they would have to redesign the levels and enemy placement for it to work.
And make the game alot easier for enemies and maps that aren’t designed for it

But the crawling would be useless. The areas in the game aren't design for crawling to be useful. The areas are much more linear, no space for grass or anything else. The dodging would be nice though.

Para el que nunca lo llegó a jugar podría ser buena adquisición, yo ya lo jugué en ps3 y no lo volvería a jugar ni estando gratis (literalmente, tengo una switch desbloqueada y casi no juego a nada, actualmente estoy jugando tlou2 de ps4, la 1ra vez que juego)
Yo lo jugué en ps3 y lo completé como unas 3 veces, luego cuando tuve mi ps4 lo jugué unas 5 veces, ahora pienso comprarlo para pc
Luego te alcanzará una ps5 no te preocupes 😉

Its a remaster NOT a remake. It doesnt matter how gorgeous the graphics get, its the exact same game. Same exact storyline, characters, dialogue, movements, weapons etc., everything. A remake has new features, doesnt necessarily has to have better graphics but usually always do for obvious reasons. This is exactly like what gta 5 is, remastered from ps3 to 4 and then to 5. A true remake is something like RE2 remake where the remake differs greatly to the original, or ratchet and clank for the ps4 which is much different to the original one for ps2 and the remaster from ps3. Learn the difference people and save your money. These crap companies continue to make these lazy games for easy buck because the sheep consumers continue to pay them.

It's a remake. It's in a new engine with entirely new assets. The game was remade. It's not like it was remastered like the PS4 version where they took the original game and just raised the resolution and slightly cleaned up the image.

That’s what a 1 to 1 remake is dude. This is NOT a remaster they completely remade all the graphics from the ground up.
I thought that too until I’ve actually played it and now I can say it’s definitely a remake. The game was built from the ground up while incorporating the same dialogue, with that alone this game should have been about $49.99 MSRP. I bought it at full price being a major fan of the FIRST series, and I have no regrets. Having beaten the first Last of Us in 2013 on the PS3 and playing a little bit of the Remaster, this would be a major nostalgia trip for me and I’m absolutely falling in love with the series again despite hating everything about Part II (In my mind, Part II doesn’t exist and was a fan fiction. 😂💯)

Considero que si se nota la diferencia pero tampoco es para 70, cosa que por ejemplo en demon’s souls remake si valía al 100 esos 70, o había escena o parte del juego que se vea siquiera similar al remake de ps5 y ese juego ni de fundas lo corre un ps4

Pero estuve viendo ese demons soul remake, busque y busque y me cansé de buscar, y no vi por ningún lado ese gran salto gráfico que hiciera valer la pena esos 70 como tú dices, este remake de the last of us tampoco lo vale, pero aquí si que hay un gran salto gráfico
