Patronymes assez explicites, la Traditional sonne... traditionnel dans le meilleur sens du terme, onctueuse mais non moins définie. La Standard et plus moderne, mordante mais aussi polyvalente grâce à ses fonctions split.

I just bought a 2017 Honeyburst Traditional T like this one. Kicks all kinds of sonic ass. Perfect. Not a flaw anywhere. Best Paul I've ever owned. 2017 is a good year to get a Gibson...
motorboy1966 I agree with you. I recentlty purchased the same guitar. I love it. Sounds and plays as good as those super expensive Gibson Lespaul vintage reissues. I was thinking about a 2017 Gibson Lespaul Classic T Goltop, in addition to my Traditional T, since they will have P90's in them, for 2018.
Same here! Got mine in cherry sunburst and it looks and sounds so beautiful :) My Epiphone feels like a toy compared to the real thing.

I think the traditional sustain is better and resonates more, fuller sound more meaty
For me, i dont compare the sound because i can always replace pickups, adjust setup, change wiring. Its more of which one is more comfortable for me :)

Trads just always sound perfect to my ears. Everything always sounds thinner in comparison. But my only true goal in a guitar is that is growls like a bears, soooo... to each his/her own.

The Traditional also comes with burstbuckers 1 and 2. Love em. Way better than 57s

I think both sound very similar. It shows how little if any the chambering alter the tone when plugged in.

Santardar locks nicer in cherry sunburst. Traditional sounds better (more punch and articulation).
So which one is more comfortable? I have a traditional and it's giving me back pain. I don't have the standard so i can't compare.

traditional sounds slightly better, but that might just be all in my head. I have a standard lol.
I just bought a traditional, and i played both the standard and trad, back to back. The traditional is not weight relieved, the standard is, both necks feel pretty much the same. Both play the same. Prefer the honeyburst kind of top, that looks like a faded burst top. Also the top on my traditional is lot more flamed then the standards i've seen. Wish i could post a picture lol

The 2017s come with the picguard and screws not installed. Great for those like me who prefer without and dont want screw holes!
Which one should i buy, traditional or standard? They seem pretty much the same with little differences. I am going to play metal most of the time, too. I feel as standard is better for metal and heavier music while traditional is better for classic and jazz type of music.

Traditional has a bit less midrange. But is just a tiny, tiny bit.

The Standard sounds like a 335 to me for some reason. And what the hell is up with Gibson's quality control, anyone else notice there is no cap on the toggle switch?
They don't ship with the toggle cap fitted. It's always separate in the case, unless the retailer has opened the box and fitted it.

The Trad is superior due to more weight and no chambering. Standards are changed too much.

The traditional sound better
These weight relieved Les Pauls lose their punch on the treble setting. Sounds like an LP with something missing. Swiss hole weight relieved was ok, now they've taken it too far. The Standard feels like a semi acoustic.
The Tradionals were not weight relieved, that was the whole point behind their production. It was the Standards that were bwtween around earlly 2000's up until last year 2019. You can still buy the Standard Modern which retains the 9 hole weight relief, the push pull pots and pick up configurations, but now they also have a standard 50's and Standadd 50's. The only difference between the 50's and 60's is the neck width, tuners and pot styles. Also, both the 50's and 60's are Not weight relieved. These 2 models basically replaced the Traditional.
I have no idea what the differences are. I know what your distorted sound is, but no idea what the guitars actually sound like. This video is more about you than the guitar. I could care less how fast you can play, I am more interested in the differences in the guitars. You could have played 15 guitars with your distorted sound and I would have learned nothing. Here is a thought, try playing clean.

I agree The BB pro's are shit. I replaced them with pickups by Throbaks and I couldn't be happier

I take Standard.. Traditional sounded flat and not lively in comparison. Nice demo!

Boomhauer even the old traditionals vs a standard of the same year sounded exceptional vs the standards even after you replace the pups this video here just proves the difference in tone.
Funny traditional are just old standard. Gibson use standard to try new spec. If you like old standard you should go new traditional.
