Crunch has 100 hitpoints in total and the life bar doesn't show it, but every body part has a different health pool, having 25 of those hitpoints each. If you shoot a body part 25 times and deplete its life points, it will be "disabled" and Crunch will stop using that attack, preventing you from shooting him there anymore. That's why the trick to this boss is to prioritize shooting Crunch during its _hardest_ attack patterns, to prevent him from using them as soon as possible, otherwise if you leave them last, he will keep spamming those attacks, like he did here
It's strange. I don't know if I have a different version, but whenever I played this on the PS2, possibly because I had gotten good enough to hit the targets dead on, they would always be disabled in this order for me: Face barrage, Chest lightning wave then right hand beam, leaving just his left hand hurl, and yet every video I see show a different order, leaving the beam attack as the only remaining one. Mind you, if your theory is true, it might explain why because the face barrage is an absolutely massive target and when he's charging the left hand hurl, he's shielding himself with his right hand, making for a much smaller target.
I know Crunch doesn't actually die, but I think this is probably his most gruesome defeat in this gane. Also, cool trivia in the description, I forgot all he did was the lightning stream at really low health
The trivia is kinda wrong though, all his body parts have a health pool of their own and when they run out he will stop using them, OP just didn’t hit that part enough to make him stop using it.

Real talk, if activision are going to consider anything as a followup project, it should be a REMAKE of wrath of cortex. Doesn’t necessarily have to be anything overly drastic...it’s just, not only does twoc stand as a rightful occurring sequel in the timeline canon, but also the elementals and intro to a core protagonist such as crunch are too essential to overlook. Just as it is a plain mistake to overlook n gins hideous face in this. Anyway awesome boss.
He's only showing you where to hit him. Plus, if you look real closely, you can see the Elemental Mask showing you what attack Crunch is going to do next

I like the short video you put when Crunch said "time to earn your wings kid !": he probably didn't know Crash can turn into an angel everytime he eat the ground
I remember the first time I played this level and I could not beat it for the life of me especially the 3rd boss level “Crashes To Ashes” until I played more and more and got better and beat both levels. The most likely easy boss level in this game to beat is “Drain Damage”.

This boss was the bane of my existence! Was never able to get beat it.
The hardest boss in the whole Crash series. I never struggled as much on a boss in Crash compared to this one.
I think Crunch Time is harder.

I could never progress further in the game because the game always froze in the loading. The disc is in pretty bad shape so that might be the cause
