In this game I saw someone play Cyclops and suplex the the Juggernaut. I said "Did...did he just suplex the Juggernaut?" The guy replied. "That is why he is the leader of the X-Men"

Seeing this game at the local pizza shop as a 8 yo was pure magic. This is the game that got me into fighting games. Still involved in the fighting game community till this day.

So cool that they used the Voice Actors from the Uncanny X-Men tv show. To me, Cal/Cathal Dodd will always be the voice of Wolverine.

Back in the good old days when my older brother and cousins would hit up these arcade rooms on a Saturday and run fuckers up for money in this and other games.
I love that you used Akuma in the last playthrough. This was only his second appearance ever, and his moveset hadn't quite been solidified yet (particularly his super moves - he didn't yet have the Air Fireball super, or his now-trademark Shun Goku Satsu, which was only used as a cutscene power in SSF2T). Like SSF2T, he has no portrait (large or small) and the game never says or shows his name.
* Some places claim that this was his third appearance, with Street Fighter: The Movie being his second, but CotA released in Japan a full year before SF:TM released anywhere.

Back in 1994, Once i got finally up to Juggernaut, saw him bent a piece of metal with ease, i said to myself, oh shit, i'm gonna need a shitload of quarters.
And did you beat Magneto before you finish the game dude?

X-Men: Children of the Atom (video game) is an arcade game that was produced by Capcom and released on the CP System II arcade hardware in 1994 in Japan and in 1995 in North America and Europe. The game is loosely based on the Fatal Attractions storyline. The main antagonist is Magneto, who plans to unleash an electromagnetic pulse on the Earth that will disrupt the magnetic fields and create havoc on the world's electrical systems ushering in a Dark Age for Earth's non-mutant population. With the promise of a mutant-run planet, the X-Men's most formidable foes join forces with Magneto.

Fun Fact: Those two steel beams in the foreground of Juggernaut’s stage go with him for every other stage when you fight as him. They’re actually usable weapons.
A Marvel & Capcom Anthology would be welcome and with this game included, along with Marvel Super Heroes and the Versus series until MVsC2.

With the exception of fighting super-hard Magneto, I have always loved this game. I have a copy of the Japanese version on my Sega Saturn, and I play the emulated, original arcade versions on MAME. I usually play as Wolverine and Psylocke.
I also love X-Men: COTA's soundtrack. The stage BGMs of Wolverine, Omega Red, Storm, Spiral, Colossus, and Magneto always get play on my MP3 player.
It's just not the same without hearing Magneto say, "Welcome to die..."

This is Capcom's first Marvel-themed fighting game.
I completely fail to see how it's even possible to beat all opponents on an actual arcade machine, especially when they constantly block and counter every attack i throw at them.

great game only gripe needed more characters from the xmen franchise.....if xmen ever get another fighting game hopefully the roster will be much bigger preferably made by capcom.

One thing i loved about this game is its soundtrack. I have the ps1 version. I know its crappy compared to the arcade, but i still love playing it from time to time.

For Omega Red. Try Fwd HP, Fwd MK, QCF SP (Then first Carbonadium coil drop is to the floor, 2nd is throw upward). After throw, QCF HP (to catch by Carbonadium Coil again). Repeat until defeat. ;)
