A fascinating video. An "Original Transcon RR" enthusiast, here. A simple procedure done many times daily, but seldom shown in a nicely prepared manner such as this. I know now how many gallons they hold, LOL. We travel the original UP/CPRR ROW's, do simple Rephotography, etc. following A.J.Russell/Alfred Hart/Charles Savage' views. The UP/Kansas Pacific apparently was not the major player during the Manifest Destiny era, as UP and CPRR were the major contenders for Government money's, etc. Thanks for your efforts. Subscribed.
Thank you so much. Not everyone knows how many gallons there are in a locomotive. That's why I put it down, and it's always a big hit because everyone asks about it.
Gday mate this is Paul from Adelaide Australia. Great video !! just wanted 2 know how many Gallons or we say in Australia litres do these loco's hold !! hope 2 hear from you soon !! have a great day !!!!! 😀😀
I'm an engineer for Union Pacific R/R for 10 years now . My train pulls intermòdal from Roseville, CA to Cheyenne! WYOMING after my rest period is over who knows which direction I go
Great video! I have never actually seen a locomotive refueling before this.
Thank you it's cool to see

Good video, refueling 1st time seeing it, looong train, interesting duel train catch...perfect timing. Viewing from Philly
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed the video
Never seen a train refuel on the mainline, nice catch buddy!
Pretty cool. I don't know much about trains, but never woulda thought that they'd refuel somewhere other than a yard or fuel depot.
Yes, a lot of times, they can not get to the yard the direction they're going
A great video and not boring by any means.
Thank you

Go-Go Juice is the technical term.
How long was this train
What about the engines at the head end when do they refuel?
It depends on the locomotives when they need to be refused
How does the engineer know when to stop?
Do you mean to get refueled
@@GreyBeardTrains yes
They use the fuel gauges. The mid locomotives link to the lead locomotive
@@GreyBeardTrains so the engineer can see that far back?
I believe they have digital readouts in the lead locomotive for every locomotive that links to it
how does train know when to stop and that fueling was complete?
The radio
@@GreyBeardTrains They have a footage counter in the lead locomotive they reset just as they pass the fuel truck, easy.
How much fuel does the truck hold in gallons
Don't know
Keep it up !! UP👍 I have shares in Union Pacific.😘😘

This is what they call a splash and2,000 gallon of fuel and they divide it evenlydash. The truck holds a max of
