I can't believe I was able to catch the 4006 KCS Veterans Heritage Locomotive passing through, but I wish i was on the other side. Hope you all enjoy this video. Please leave me a comment and tell me what you liked about it. Thank you for watching and always. God bless

the yuo Thomas 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
17:50 wow never mind the first train that coal train was enormous
That first train was long that dpu is about where right the train's here on FEC end. Do me a favor of my friend? I've subscribed to your channel. I got a bunch of videos of the Florida East Coast railway up now and I'm asking you to check them out and subscribe.
i do miss his videos, I loved his stories. acts 24:15 ... there is going to be a resurrection (standing up) of botht the rightous and the unrightous". so there is a very good chance he will be back but it will be world where wicked people will be gone and all oppressive govenrments will be a thing of the past. daniel 2;44
I see this thing all the time in Lecompton, I always see it on the 6:45 local freight.
@@newhaven5598 nice
Wow yes😊
There's a handful of former MOPAC CA-27's still out there with Union Pacific that are only used in yards and on local jobs as shoving platforms. Actually there is probably more CA-27's still in usage but the other prolonged purpose that Union Pacific has done to them is specifically use them for MOW work trains. Ironically any of those cabooses were repainted into the dubbed "Puke Green" MOW scheme that Missouri Pacific used which transitioned into Union Pacific after the merge when their management took over the system. Union Pacific's own MOW livery on rolling stock was aluminum silver. There is also a few former SP/SSW C-40-3's still in use for the same shoving platform purposes. I don't know about any actual Union Pacific cabooses but wouldn't be surprised.
Cool catch in the snow! :)
@HunterHoward-jy4et Thank you. The snow makes great videos
@ yes indeed :)
Very nice :)
@HunterHoward-jy4et Thank you
I had to look where "Great Overland Station" is LOL...I am an enthusiast of original transcon UP/CPRR history, so happy to learn a bit more of that line. And, happy to read that the Station was saved and renovated. Thanks from Darrell.
@darrellborland119 You're very welcome. I'm so glad they saved it and restored the station

Another "cool" (burr) video, Grey Beard! I think a railcam rigged up high in the Lawrence depot steeple would give an awesome view but don't ask me to install it up there! Santa Fe "Prairie" # 1073 could probably put on quite a show back in its heyday. I imagine those 69-inch drive wheels could get it up to 75 - 80 mph on level track with an R.P.O./baggage and 3 or 4 wooden coaches trailing. Man, what a sight and sound that would have been! Just a few blocks East of where the U.P. station is now (near the South end of N. 6th street) the Leavenworth, Lawrence and Galveston Railroad crossed the river back in 1868, or so. It used a temporary bridge at first and later built one of steel construction. I think its rails were laid as far South as Coffeyville. The museum in Ottawa is in the restored, stone depot. That last train you filmed was Union Pacific RR saying, "tanks a lot" for your videos - lol!
@HowardKelsey68 Thank you for the great information about 1073, and do you not like being that high on a ladder 😀 also I'm so glad you enjoyed watching my videos. Have a happy new year.

Thanks for the "cool" video, Grey Beard. My great grandfather started his long & prosperous railroad career right there in Grantville as a station agent apprentice back around 1903 or '04. Things were a little different back then: no welded rail, no electronic signaling, no automatic switches nor their heaters, no automatic gate crossings, no video cameras, no cell phones - heck, there were hardly ANY telephones! There were many water tanks every so often along the tracks for a total steam operation and lots of poles, wires and telegraph keys. The depots were heated by coal-fired, pot-belly stoves but the out houses most everyone used were not! There were very few automobiles around but horse drawn buggies and wagons everywhere. If there were any lighted Christmas decorations at all, they would have used candles and no doubt, would've made the local fire brigade nervous (if there was one). We have much to be thankful for. Merry Christmas! HE is the reason for the season.
@HowardKelsey68 Thank you for sharing the history of your grandfather. I would so love to see pictures if you had any. I really like history that has to do with the railroad, and Perry Ks used to have an old train station that I did some research on. Was there an old station in Grantville.
@@GreyBeardTrains Yes, there was a depot in Grantville. I've only found 1 picture of it though. Check out the Grantville, Kansas page on Wikipedia. It sat on the north side of the tracks about halfway through town. You can get a better idea of its location by searching vintage maps of the town. Also, there is 1 photo of the Perry depot & water tank on the 'Kansas Memory' page of the Kansas Historical Society's website, which you probably know about already. I remember many trips in the 60's when the old US-24 Hwy passed right through downtown Perry.
That lead needs a spray down.
