"Paralized after have been accidentally shot by his father". Oh, gosh, I can't even imagine how guilty that man must be feeling through all these years! Watching his son walking must be a big release not only for the young boy but also for his father.
My close friend's sister was getting married. Their father was wheelchair bound. When they started to play the bridal march, through sheer determination and support from his daughter..........HE WALKED HIS "LITTLE GIRL" DOWN THE AISLE! That was the last time he ever walked. It's one of those things I will never forget.
He is a hero because he was encouraging people to keep pushing even if something terrible happens in the process. For ex he was paralyzed but he still got a diploma and walked across the stage without crutches
Do you know who the real heroes are? The guys who wake up every morning and go into their normal jobs, and get a distress call from the Commissioner and take off their glasses and change into capes and fly around fighting crime. Those are the real heroes
I feel like there are two types of heros, 1 is what you just described. The other ones are the people who run into danger head first with no hesitation to help someone else.
At my daughter's high school one of the students was involved in a serious car accident. It left him paralyzed from the neck down and had to live on a ventilator. At their graduation along with five other schools in a giant equestrian arena in 2006 he was wheeled in on a hospital bed in his suit, cap and gown to get his diploma. He never gave up despite his condition. It looked like Superman had entered the building and the standing ovation lasted 30 minutes.
I'm more interested to know how he accidentally ended up being shot in the neck. Why anyone would clean their gun with it facing toward someone, *especially their own child* is absolutely beyond me and quite outrageous.
Try to be happy and sad for someone, will you? Circumstances happen, believe it or not! People can get accidentally shot in so many ways. Stow away the accusations for later and smile for once; no need to ruin the mood...
@@Michijoy People can get shot in so many ways, yes, but I can assure you, it hardly ever happens in families with strict rules on cleaning and clearing the guns. So moving. Reminds me of my daughter after her car accident, leaving her with a T5 spinal chord injury and permanent optic nerve damage seeing her going from being a cheer- leader to a wheel chair was really hard, but she is such a sweet and strong person. They set her wheel chair on the stage and with her walker, she took one step at a time, to receive her diploma. There was not a dry eye in the auditorium. Everyone was standing and applauding her. The song I wrote for her went like this, Titled: "April Dawn". A little girl playing with barbie dolls ribbons in her hair with the sweetest smile she must have been an angel sent from up above how the Lord had blessed us with this little child. As the years went by we never would have thought we would see her lying there fighting for her life. We were told she would never walk again the kind of life she had known was now at an end. So many questions kept running through my mind how could this happen to this child of mine. Yet day by day the answer was clear as I saw her strength despite the pain and tears. Both young and old have been affected by her grit with God and determination she vowed to never quit. Then on the day of her graduation she turned eighteen years old there was cause for celebration she stepped across the stage with a standing applause eyes were filled with tears from the miracle they saw in "April Dawn".
You GO son, many congratulations, you have graduated quite literally summs cum laude and not only with a diploma in your education but in strength of will, determination and how to overcome adversity. The world, aswell as your mom dad and family are bursting with pride in you. WELL DONE.
This young man has overcome a major obstacle in his life. When you're done shooting at the range UNLOADING THE GUNS AND TAKING THEM HOME TO CLEAN THEM IS BEST.
I haven’t walked on my own without crutches for over a year now . I have Avascular Necrosis . It’s where the joints don’t get a blood flow and collapse . So far I’ve had both hips replaced , a neck surgery, 2 lower back surgeries and now waiting for my next back surgery and both shoulders . So I know what it’s like to not be able to walk . I can only imagine how good he felt when he walked across the stage . Bless his heart .
Something similar actually happened at my graduation 21 years ago. One of my classmates broke his neck in two places and didn’t think he would walk again. And an ambulance brought him to graduation from the Rehab center and he walked to accept his diploma. He works as a trainer for the NFL now.
Exactly. I cannot, for the life of me, understand America’s obsession with guns. It’s one of the main reasons I won’t visit there. (Another major reason is the toddler currently rage-tweeting from your Oval Office.)
So how the hell does someone “accidentally” shoot their son. Shot while cleaning guns. So how did that happen. Like did the dad not check that the gun was unloaded before cleaning it.
Right? I hate to be judgmental but that’s an example of an irresponsible gun owner. I’m sure he didn’t do it on purpose and it truly was an accident but damn. Always, always check your guns first before you take them apart and clean them
Carelessness. Happens a lot. People forget that removing the magazine does not unload the weapon. Drop the magazine and dryfire the weapon to release the tension. Or, forget to remove the magazine, work the slide or bolt, eject a round, and think the gun is clear. The basic rule is still, never point in gun at anything you don't want to put holes in. And look at the weapon while clearing it. It only takes a second to check the chamber, and run the slide or bolt 3 or 4 times. Course, Dad looks like a guy who is not unfamiliar with the bottom a beer can, and that may have had a part to play.
Good on Chance! My son was killed 13 years ago by an accidental bullet to the head when his best friend lost control of the handgun he had. I can barely imagine what Chance's father felt when he realized what had happened, but I can imagine the great relief he must have felt to have his son alive and now working toward walking on his own again.
At my college one of the students & three of his friends went out drinking the night after he graduated high school. The car his best friend was driving was involved in a serious car accident. The result was 2 fatalities & he wound up in a wheel chair. He swore an oath to god he would never touch alcohol again if at the end of four years he could rise from his chair.
