I love this. I feel like a lot of the work I see on woodworking forums / videos / communities requires complicated and specialized tools to create perfect projects with no through lines, but your work here is just as perfect and far more achievable using a simple ban saw. And personally I think the bolts are actually a great finish for the leather, it would look odd without them. Though I might opt for gold or brass colored instead.
Beautiful!! While I liked the flocking I am wondering if you think it is necessary now. Would you do it again? I also liked the screws holding the leather hinge and agree that a brass or gold color would match the tone of the wood. Brilliant project!!
When floccing, you do not want to dump out any of the fibers until the adhesive glue has completely dried (usually overnight). After the adhesive has dried, you can dump out and reclaim any fibers that haven’t stuck to the adhesive. Also, you want to make sure you use more than enough fibers. If you feel like you’ve put on more than you need, add more. You can always reclaim it so it won’t be wasted. You also want to work rather quickly as the adhesive begins to dry fast.
Great video this is a great project and it turned out really good. Like your brand too and the clean aesthetic. New subscriber. Would love to see new content.
In fact, your work is very, very beautiful, but the speed of the video is high in important detail, and also the skin over time ruptures and with the water shrinking, you can make internal joints and work the skin in the outside cover in the form of a frame after I sculpted a place so that it remains hidden and you can add your logo Of gold-plated metal, will give a great impression, I am an Arab from Sudan and I liked what you did, better progress
I think you want more flocking glue, you seem to have brushed it out too much which has left the ridges. Also, don't be afraid of putting plenty of the fibers in there and just leave it, any that are not needed will not stick and can be re-used. I use Suede Tex from Turners Retreat and the instructions suggest leaving it for at least 48 hours before tipping out the loose fibers which gives the glue time to cure properly.
really smart and minimalist, can you make a bigger version of this box, also I wanna know about the leather type you used, is it a natural or synthetic, good job after all
I saw the flocking "system" a few times on You Tube. Now I understand more or less how it works. Never saw a "flocking gun" though. But: why is it necessary to have the glue the same colour as the flocking fibres? Is it not possible to buy transparent glue and use that for all colours of flocking fibres?
The flicking gun applies static electricity to the fibres as well as firing them into the glue they then stand up mor in the glue. The coloured glue ensures that there is no patches that look thinner of fibres and helps with the quality of the final look.
Wait, aren't you supposed to use some sort of "flocking gun" so that the fibers are electrostatically attracted to the glued-in surface. That's what makes them stand up straight in the glue. I'm not sure but I think I see you just powder the fibers on the glue, that won't give the desired effect... Nice video!

Flocking yes, screws however not required at all. Just leather and glue is plenty
Great to meet you last night!
I knew I had watched this video - Glad you are going to join HS
Ryan
Hey Ryan, yep great to meet you too!. Your laser cut experiment is getting quite a few likes on Instagram. I posted the video last night.
Very nice project Geoff. I like the leather hinge especially. Thanks so much for the shout out buddy! I do appreciate the support!
Классная работа! 95 балов!!! на 5 балов нужно обработать края кожи.
Мне очень понравилось!!!
Валерий Фёдоров thanks! I am happy with 95! ;)
Awesome.

Great box!
nice job on this project! love the wood.
Very Cool Man!
Nice project would you mind sharing the final dimension of the case?
They are so specific to the glasses so there would be no point.
nice!

Brian Hall great advice thanks!

Taki Clinton Harness yes you make bigger boxes with leather hinge like this. The leather is real leather from a local tannery
Are you able to make any and sell? I need a decent looking case that will fit my RayBan Rounds
ThaDSman whereabouts are you? And what do you think would be a fair price? Ta geoff
I would also like to order one if possible
Nice job, also you have some nice kit, is this just a hobby? Hoping you say yes, so I can justify some more power tools 😀😀😀😀
Richard Dunn yep just hobby ! Thanks !
More tools is the way to go ;)
I much prefer curved edges
Y0LOM1D. I like pizza 🍕
Stuff I Made i like pizza with pineapple xD
Stuff I Made anyways, do you make wooden sunglasses?
Not yet I haven’t
Came out pretty great! I've seen David Picciuto flock w/ some of his project (esp bandsaw boxes), go check out what he does. 🤓👍🏼
Live Free and DIY thanks !
Hola! ¿Que material es usado en interior de la caja? Gracias :0)
Jeff Nos the material is called 'flocking fibres' you also need a glue of the same colour as the flocking fibres
Stuff I Made Thank you. Very friendly and useful information. :o)

I like this comprehensive presentation, but I cannot do as the man does, due to many machines he uses for a small thing.
Here is a method that anyone could do: ruclips.net/video/cnjUW5BM6jo/видео.html

Sam De Weerdt thanks for the tip!
How much would you charge to make one.
Not sure, make me an offer, you can get my email on the about us tab I think. Are you in the UK?
Stuff I Made no I am not in the UK. But I don't know how much the materials cost so I don't think I could give you a proper price
