Excellent work, I love how something not quite being perfectly square gives it that made by hand look, something sadly missing from todays machine made mass produced items. Well done!
Great video and great work, I really enjoy watching someone make something that nice without all the high dollar power tools ,jigs, and equipment, truly craftsmanship, thanks
Excellent video and process. I enjoyed watching you perform what I'm interested in teaching my campers at our community center. Learn woodworking with and without power tools. Much success an thanks for sharing
honestly i am more impressed at the wide tools you have, with that kind of tools to access your work better come out good which it did good job there. Now most people would have harder time on this as generally we all only have hand saw, hammer, chisel and nails these basic to work with.
Very nicely made. I love the boxes built with thinner material. So many times to see them where the sides and ends appear overly back to me. Very nicely made
Simple, useful, attractive. And without power tools. Not that power tools are somehow wrong, but they may not have improved this work speed and accuracy-wise. Nice work!
Much obliged to the creator of this plan for sharing such awesome work of yours in an extremely moderate expense [Link Here== *TopFineWoodworking. Com* ]. The nature of the work and the materials far surpasses the cost. This is the best offer as such.?
first vid I have ever watched and immediately knew I was going to hit the like button and do a thank you comment. a beautiful project. also knew I had to order the lee valley router plane and rabbet planes, which I did :(
Yes, it's a very good book for box making, very instructive and easy to follow. Although it's based on building the boxes with power tools, it can be easily adapt the techniques to hand ones, for most of them of course.
Haha, no, I was filming that :) In the previous video, the keepsake boxes, I am cutting them :) Thanks! P.S. I recently bought a mini bandsaw, 8" wheel, I can say is my first and only machinery tool, if you can call a 70 cm high bandsaw a machinery :) But, is good, helps a lot, speeding up rough cutting in order to do more handtools projects :)
I do love handtools. They create a real affinity between the wood and you working the wood and are much better on the ears. Is it possible to make the mitre key slots with handtools aswel?
Beautifully crafted! I know this may sound funny but I love the way u applied the glue in the groove when u put the box together..it's a great tip actually, just adding little drops here and there instead if one long line/bead. Bet you get zero squeeze out that way too.im gonna start doing that for groove type glue ups from now on thanks for sharing and the tip. I'm sure you don't look at it as a tip but I do lol look forward to see what you do next I always get in spurts use hand tools after watching your videos Cheers
Oh, Joe, I thought you were upset or something from my previous video :)) or you probably didn't saw my reply :) Yes, actually I put just drops because is too hard and useless to spread it all along the groove, also without touching the outsides, and yes was zero squeeze out, or just a few where I knew I've applied a bigger drop of glue. Thanks mate for your comment, I'm glad you like it. Next two weeks if agw I should have a japanese crazy joinery and the mini/micro japanese toolboxes; again japanese stuff :)) Cheers!
Thanks Christopher! Sorry but I don't have a video for that, it is built not knowing that I will succeed with, so that's why I didn't film it. The design is from Fine Woodworking magazine issue #261, of Todd Crenshaw.
Really enjoy your videos, thanks for sharing. Do you plan on doing a video of your 45 deg shooting board you use? Seems like just the thing for making boxes.
Hello, your videos and your works are amazing! Could you make a video of the thickness planing jig? And maybe one of your 45º shooting board as well? That would be great
I am obsessed with this video. I'm trying to make similar boxes and my table saw is pretty cheap so the bevel cuts tend to vary, how do you plane at an angle like that? Sorry I'm sure it's obvious I'm just a beginner
I've made a miter shooting board for that. For the type I've used you must have the walls of the plane very squared. Otherwise checkout Mitch Peacock miter shooting board, you can do it on the table saw with a little effort Or there is other type where you use a straight shooting board and raise the workpiece at 45
Cool. Again, the work you are able to do in your apartment is super impressive. I would be curious to know how you deal with dust! I live in one myself and do most of my woodworking on my balcony.
I have a small space now, still in house, but dedicated so I can make dust and noise (acceptable :) ) but otherwise in apartment my best friends where the broom and dustpan, and cleaning after every operation so the things will not escalete😃
Thank you! Yes, I like more too the basswood keys. Even if the padauk and purpleheart are too exotic, the "cheap" basswood makes a nice contrast with the walnut :)
I would suggest getting 2 nice rubber bands and putting them on the ends of box where you press to open the box. Simple way of keeping it shut and keeping the original design :P
My daughter-in-law is an artist, and I am making this box for her for her birthday. Thanks for a great suggestion and inspiration!
It's amazing to see the results you can get with sharp tools. Excellent work!
+Hack 'n Build Thanks! And keeps your fingers undamaged too😁 I was full of injuries at the begining when using poor sharping methods
Pencils never had a better home. Nice job!
Thank you!
Love everything about this production.
Bravo on a job very well down.
Oh that hand router is just too too divine! 😍
Haha yes, it's very cute :)
Ain't that the cutest router plane and shoulder plane ever!
Veritas Mini
They have so many, I own this Router plane and the Mini Block Plane.
Use them all the time for small boxes.
nice touch with the lid
Stunning work and very calming music too
Glad you like it, thanks!
Beautiful and very well made
Thank you very much Andrea!
Excellent work, I love how something not quite being perfectly square gives it that made by hand look, something sadly missing from todays machine made mass produced items. Well done!
Beautiful. Great job with all the hand tool!
Great video and great work, I really enjoy watching someone make something that nice without all the high dollar power tools ,jigs, and equipment, truly craftsmanship, thanks
Thank you! I use also some small cheap machinery to do the slavery work 😀 making stock from lumber, but the finesse and final touch with handtools
Beautiful craftsmanship.
Nice music selection and Wood arts!! Greetings from Argentina, South America...
Gracias! Saludos tambien desde Romania :)
Wonderful job Adrian!
Beautiful boxes! I love the simple elegant lid technique!!
Thanks! Yes, clever idea, not mine original dough :) I will make now smaller versions just for a pen
Excellent video and process. I enjoyed watching you perform what I'm interested in teaching my campers at our community center. Learn woodworking with and without power tools. Much success an thanks for sharing
Thank you very much! Yes, is a nice example this type of box. All the best!
Very elegant boxes, nicely made, good work!
Thanks Mike!
honestly i am more impressed at the wide tools you have, with that kind of tools to access your work better come out good which it did good job there. Now most people would have harder time on this as generally we all only have hand saw, hammer, chisel and nails these basic to work with.
My compliments sir. That was a fine example of both talent and skill. Thank you for sharing it with us.
I think I just meditated for the first time. What a relaxing and enjoyable video. Thank you so so much. You now have another subscriber. :)
Thank you very much Bernhard!
This is so awesome. I figured I had to have expensive power tools to even make anything decent. So exciting~
Probably because a lot of youtubers making things are sponsored by power tool companies
As always very nice job Adrian.
Thank you Frank!
Absolutely beautiful! 👏👏👏
Very nicely made. I love the boxes built with thinner material. So many times to see them where the sides and ends appear overly back to me. Very nicely made
Thank you Paul! I was concerned at first to work on so thin wood, slightly over 1/4", but the walnut holds well the grooves and rabbets made.
Adrian Preda the word elegant comes to mind. Reminds me of some of the fine Japanese craftsmanship I’ve seen.
Good job Adrian !
Thank you Vladimir!
Just started making a pencil case myself I definitely will be using the lever action lid idea 😉
Thanks! yes, it's a nice lid idea, I will try to make now similar ones but smaller, just for one pencil. Good luck with the build.
I have become obsessed with your videos!
This video of yours is so peaceful I subscribed and this is the only one I've watched so far
Thank you very much! Hope you did enjoyed more of my videos as well :)
Same here!
Very nice and clean!
I really want to try a shooting board for 45's like that.
Beautiful craftsmanship! Please, make videos more frequently!
Thanks! Yes, should be from now on :)
Adrian Preda - Awesome! I'd love to see you expand your little "appartment workshop" for instance - but anything will do really.
These are very very cool and make me want to make one too... Well done
Thanks! I'm glad you like it!
Excellent! You have outdone your self again, Adrian.
Thank you Mik! 👍
Very nice. Well done.
so innovative! I always had to painstakingly load the pencil for the muzzle but no more!
Lovely video and boxes!
Thank you Stefan! I am glad you like it!
Excellent, very neat clean highly professional work,I am a mechanical engineer,I appreciate your wonderful work.
Wow! Beautiful
Thanks!
Very nice pencil box! I like how the lid works! Thank you.
Just realized why I love your channel so much. You barely ever use power tools.
Beautiful job, nicely done
That tiny hand router though! Amazing
that tiny router is adorable and i want one
:)
Simple, useful, attractive. And without power tools. Not that power tools are somehow wrong, but they may not have improved this work speed and accuracy-wise. Nice work!
So beautifull!!!!
Thank you!
Indemanare, video clip foarte bine editat, muzica si prezentare EXCELLENT!

+Matt Telepenko Thanks Matt! Thanks for the feedback!
Awesome work as usual!
So many great things in this video, all of the jigs were awesome!!! Oh yeah, the box was great too....LOL.
Very well constructed. I really appreciate your craftsmanship! Excellent work
Masterpiece!
Thank you!
Nice work, you really like hand tools :)
Thanks, yes :)
Much obliged to the creator of this plan for sharing such awesome work of yours in an extremely moderate expense [Link Here== *TopFineWoodworking. Com* ]. The nature of the work and the materials far surpasses the cost. This is the best offer as such.?
using mostly handtools is great!fun to watch Adrian!;-)
Thanks Marko! Glad to see you here!
I like your marking gauge. Would you consider soing a video on making one?
That was not made by me, this is how it was bought. It s a Japanese marking gauge kebiki called. They may look diy dough
Thanks. Very cool.
quite elegant
Waooo it’s so beauty!❤
Good job. Verry nice looking boxes. Almost to nice to use . Cheers buddy
Thanks man! Yes, too delicate for us :)) Ok, now moving to your clip :)))
Nice project and video Adrian. I see you got yourself a sliding saw...or was that at Slovenski's workshop?
Thanks Michael! No, it's the Slovenski Woodworker one :) Where to put that table saw, doesn't even fit in my house :)
Beautiful!
Now I am dreaming of more tools in my workshop...
Thank you! :)
Beautiful work. You have more patience than me because my boxes are built with power tools. 👍
Very nice.
Good work
Thank you!
muy lindas, excelente¡!!!!
+jorcuar leo Gracias!😁
Very nice!
Thanks Francesco! :)
first vid I have ever watched and immediately knew I was going to hit the like button and do a thank you comment. a beautiful project. also knew I had to order the lee valley router plane and rabbet planes, which I did :(
Sorry for the hole in the pocket :)) But they are reliable little tools! Thank you very much for liking the video!
Perfect job
Thank you!
I have the book with the slab lid boxes and these too!
Yes, it's a very good book for box making, very instructive and easy to follow. Although it's based on building the boxes with power tools, it can be easily adapt the techniques to hand ones, for most of them of course.
I truly enjoyed watching and learning your techniques. Love the soothing music. Keep up the great work.
+Kathleen Basieiwcz Thank you very much! I appeciate the feedback.
".....First time i see u using power tools Senor Adrian....Great mini projects....!'
Magnificent!
Thanks you!
Does your little router have a fence? If not, that's amazing control to cut those grooves and rebates
I do love handtools. They create a real affinity between the wood and you working the wood and are much better on the ears. Is it possible to make the mitre key slots with handtools aswel?
I was watching your vid in total bliss when all of a sudden ... you just had to play with that lid 😁
Yes, was so funny, couldn't stop it :))
Beautifully crafted! I know this may sound funny but I love the way u applied the glue in the groove when u put the box together..it's a great tip actually, just adding little drops here and there instead if one long line/bead. Just came across your channel. Could you possibly give details of what your tools are/how to make them if DIY? They are so lovely for home crafting.
awesome looking boxes any chance of showing us how you built that 45 shooting board
Thanks Christopher! Sorry but I don't have a video for that, it is built not knowing that I will succeed with, so that's why I didn't film it. The design is from Fine Woodworking magazine issue #261, of Todd Crenshaw.
thanks i'll have a look
beautiful
Thank you!
Really enjoy your videos, thanks for sharing. Do you plan on doing a video of your 45 deg shooting board you use? Seems like just the thing for making boxes.
te lumte shqipe tregon traditen shqiptare
Thanks!
Love your work. Do you have plans for the shooting board you have used for the litres?
Mitres not litres.
Thank you! This from an issue of Fine Woodworking magazine, somewhere in mid 2017 I remember.
I have made the same kind of box many times.
Que bueno esta, 👍
Buenisimo trabajo.........
Thank you Emilio!
What is the tool you showed at 00:45? Absolutely beautiful work
It s a veritas mini router plane, link in description. Thank you!
very good👍
Sublime!
Thanks!
Simplesmente lindo!!!
Thanks!
Great work and brillant video!
Thank you Stephan as always!
Hello, your videos and your works are amazing! Could you make a video of the thickness planing jig? And maybe one of your 45º shooting board as well? That would be great
Amazing work!
Thank you!
Nice work 👍 hey could you tell me what that tool is called the one where you where scribing the wood with
Thanks! kebiki marking gauge is called
Thanks man gonna see if I can pick one up on eBay

Adrian Preda Great help thanks dude!
Beautiful!
Isn't there a risk that the lid will expand and not fit anymore?
Thank you! There is a bit of gap left for this.
Got it, thanks. It looked like such a tight fit on the video !
It's like about 0.5-0.8mm on each side I remember. It helps also that the wood is darker and gaps are not noticeable so much
Beautiful work Adrian :) I like the look of the basewood for contrast too ॐ
Thank you! Yes, I like more too the basswood keys. Even if the padauk and purpleheart are too exotic, the "cheap" basswood makes a nice contrast with the walnut :)
Beautiful. How does it stay closed when it's in a bag or being transported?
Thanks! It's not a portable pencil box, like a school kid's one :) You put it on your desktop/office and leave it there
Adrian Preda ah. I see. I'd love to make one but somehow lockable so it doesn't open while inside a bag.
I would suggest getting 2 nice rubber bands and putting them on the ends of box where you press to open the box.
Simple way of keeping it shut and keeping the original design :P
Stefano Musica use magnets that are strong enough to hold it but weak enough so that you can still use the lever action
Incredible video! Beautiful work! Subbed! Thank you for putting the links to where you got the tools! I will be getting a few of them! :D
Thank you very much!
