That oak really pops and the ebony is the perfect touch. And the worm holes? There is just so much going on here beyond a little Japanese tool box. Well done, sir!
I can't decide which is more compelling: The exquisite videography or the amazing craftsmanship. They go together beautifully and the result is magnificent! This is my favorite woodworking channel of all time. 🥰
Thank you for sharing. It has been a wait, but well worth it. Honestly, your videos are so peaceful, I would probably get a little enjoyment out of watching a "blooper" video with mistakes, and possibly, a little anger... just to prove you are one of us. Thanks again for posting. Thoroughly enjoyed this video!
Zen woodworking. This is the vibe I aim for when I’m making something, but it all too often is punctuated my mistakes, long periods of thinking, and the odd minor injury!
Hello from France ! Merci pour le temps passé à la réalisation de l'objet tout d'abord et du montage de la vidéo d'autre part! You're simply The Boss. Respect 🇨🇵
I made a box like this during covid. I gave it to my wife to keep photos and memorabilia of members of her late family in. Mine was made of ceder with a mahogany wedge.
Nice video. I like the fact that it is actually hand made. To many computers and machines out there today calling it hand made. I really like and appreciate your work.
Someday, not so long from now, humankind will appreciate wood in all its intricacies just as Wookiees do in a galaxy far far away. Woah, I love that hand vise!
Isn't wood just one of the best materials in the universe? And good to see hand tools in place of machinery. Don't get me wrong, I love machinery... but it's always good to go back to first principles.
Habe das Video sehr genossen. Wunderschönes Holzetuí. Wäre das Schreinerhandwerk in Deutschland nicht Meisterpflichtig, würde ich als nicht gelernter Schreiner sofort damit anfangen.
Takes me back to childhood - one of my sisters had a similar pencil box. You have created something exquisite. A bonnie and a beauty and a joy forever.
What a beautiful work of art and functionality. You show so many different techniques in this little box it could have been multiple videos. Thank you for sharing and be safe.
As always, beautiful work 😎 I have to say that I'm generally not a fan of having music in these types of videos... however, the music you choose and the fact that it's not louder than the sound of you working makes it very enjoyable.
Thank you once again for a beautiful and peaceful video. I love the ebony accent piece, reclaimed, recycled piano key! Your flair for style and contrast is impeccable. Peace
Magnificent piece! The mastery of your work and the atmosphere are soothing to the heart and the eye. I recently discovered you and you are very inspiring.
Great video, I really enjoyed watching it. As a rule I am careful not to use steel wire wool on oak, it can leave tiny flecks of steel in the oak which turn blue/grey over time - I know this from bitter experience! It's exactly the same as when you dilute steel wool in vinegar to create an ebonising solution. A scotch bright pad can be safely used as an alternative.
Hi, great video! I'm a novice who has picked up the hobby, and used your Cherry Pencil box as an inspiration for the first few boxes that I made for my wife and a few friends. I'll definitely be trying this style out as well, since there's a box I would like to make for myself. My wife is asking me to make a jewelry box for her. Could you help with a simplistic design that I can make with the tools I have? I have a pull saw, hand plane, coping saw, a combo square, and a few clamps. Thanks in advance!
Thanks so much🙏
Watching you make that pencil box was an absolute joy.

There’s just something magical about a useful object lovingly crafted out of wood. Simple, yet destined to become an heirloom.
Nice to see you using the great and fancy ZenWu irons and chisels. You deserve tools like that. Awesome work as always!
Beautiful, delicate, sweet, pure art!!!!!
Absolutely beautiful!
Wonderful skill, music, visuals and end result…
Bravo and thank you 🙏 👏 🕊️
Very nice box. I was stuck with a metal Roy Rogers box. Still have the cap guns but lost the box. Good build, thank you.
One of your best videos so far. Love the break from your usual perfect dovetails. Love the ebony lock.
Bellissimo. Complimenti
Ho guardato il video 5 volte
La voglio fare anche io
Grazie 🇮🇪

It is lovely to see a true craftsman at work: quite mesmerising.

YES!! Thank you for making more videos, my friend!
Artist and true craftsman . Thank you for sharing your craft .
Very simplistic workshop and woodworking. Basic tools but using great skills to create a beautiful piece.

Beautiful creation. From the bottom up. The music is very relaxing and soothing and it goes well with the work.

Absolute perfection. Such a beautiful piece.
I wish I could sharpen a pencil that well. A mighty elegant little box.
This is really nice, if only the locking bar was a carpenter pencil labeled lowes, with that beautiful blue paint.
Love how elegant it looks
your handtools fascinate me, as does your skill with them.
Bonjour,
Superbe travail! Précision, finesse, bravo, du grand art. Félécitations.
Thats a solid piece of chocolate you used for the wedge, looks delicious
Thanks for uploading !
Nicely done, very peaceful without power tools.
belle précision de travail, je n'ai jamais vu de ciseau à bois comme celui là, la partie tranchante assemblée par rainure à la partie supérieure
Another beautiful piece. You do amazing work. Thank you.

Great job, man. I love the style of your videos, not only your admirable work. The music, the photograph, the tempo... congrats and thank you.
These holes (maybe made by staples) are so beatiful. They are like war wounds of the wood
"Oak eaten by woodworm..."
😅
Really enjoyed this build/video way more than most! Ty

@5:09 baby yoda says "A million subscribers this channel should have" 😃
When I was at school our woodworking teacher would go mad with us if we put the woodworking plane blade side down!.
Same here it was a no no!
Why, laying them on their sides increases chance of knocking out of square, or worse, hitting the blade with a metal tool.
Good for you
Why? If it’s on a wood workbench top - it’s clearly harder than the top as it’s made to cut the top.
Me ha gustado mucho su trabajo.
Gracias por compartirlo.
Saludos.
Nice work
Thanks:)
Beautiful project. Thank for sharing.
Que hermosa!!! Gracias!!!
