    Excellent use of stop blocks and nice stain for that type of wood. Well done!
    I also like shaving the lid to the angle, instead of cutting a dato on the edges for it to slide. That little extra touch.

    Nice project. My only suggestion is to use a stop block on your sled for repeat cuts.

    • @heyimamaker
      @heyimamaker  5 лет назад +1

      Yea, Some times I will do that, in this case I wasn't working to any specific side so I would double them up and clean up the difference. What I really should do is make a nice cross cut sled that has a proper stop block :)

  • @tim_tim_tim
    @tim_tim_tim Год назад +1

    Love the use of stop blocks - suits my workflow entirely :) Also, I believe that’s pitch pine you found 🤔

    • @heyimamaker
      @heyimamaker  Год назад

      Stock blocks are amazing, as long as your are referencing the same thing, things should always constantly fit.
      A lot of my process is based on approximations.
      I'm in Canada, looking at Pitch Pine it might be a white pine here. I'm not sure it would be common here.
      But grain that tight is not common!
      Thanks for watching!

      @tim_tim_tim Год назад +1

      @@heyimamaker Hey thanks for replying - is it reclaimed wood? Older pine, like pitch pine is no longer available here in the UK. The reclaimed stuff that's like 30-40+ years old has that really nice tight grain like that. Either way great video :)

    • @heyimamaker
      @heyimamaker  3 года назад

      I'd kindly accept a saw stop from you.
      I use a push stick when the work pieces are very close to the blade as I am sure you saw. A 2x4 is within my comfortable zone of being able to control the work pice safely where a push stick to me feels less in control given the leverage of the material.
      I appreciate your concern for my safety.

      Hey Sean,
      Thanks for the feedback, I am still learning and sharing my process.
      After some time I'm sure I can simply something more complex, and have a better order of operations.
      I learned a lot about making this box, and usually have a minimal amount of materials on hand since it's usually salvaged or found.
      I also prefer to make something based off of reference which is why most steps in this video don't involve measurements.
