Dovetail joints for the first time! 🙋♀️ My new cherry wood pencil box not only looks beautiful, it also brought back memories for my mom. She told me that this was the kind of pencil box she used when she was at school. The wood also comes from a once huge cherry tree, which I used to climb up a few decades ago to pick the most beautiful, juicy cherries.
Incidentally, I used firewood. Unfortunately, the wood yield when cutting up the logs was very small - some of the boards were so puny that I could hardly sand them down, otherwise there would have been nothing left.
I used fish glue for gluing.
And I oiled it with linseed oil.

Wonderful Video. I like the jig you used to mark dovetail pins vertically rather than horizontal - much better and much smarter than the usual flat marking method. Well done.

ich bewundere seit einiger Zeit Deinen klasse Videos und habe natürlich auch gleich ein Abo dagelassen.
Ich staune immer wieder, wo Du die tollen Ideen für Deine Arbeiten hernimmst.
Und die super gezeigten Arbeitsabläufe sind meist sehr gut nachvollziehbar.
Auch finde ich es besonders bemerkenswert, daß Du hierbei meistens mit einfachen Werkzeugen zu so fantastischen Ergebnissen kommst. Für viel Interessierte Nachahmer ist das ein sehr guter Anreitz.
Vielen Dank an Dich und mach weiter so um uns auch künftig mit Deinen sehr lehrreichen Videos zu erfreuen.
PS.: Es wäre auch sehr schön, wenn Du gelegentlich in den Videos zur "weiteren Belebung" etwas sprechen/erklären würdest. (nur als Vorschlag)😉

Hallo, vielen Dank für deinen Kommentar und das Abo! Manchmal würde ich mich sehr gerne mitteilen, das kannst du mir glauben. Aber nachdem ich fast alles zum allerersten Mal baue, dabei auch Fehler mache um daraus zu lernen (und meine Videos offiziell keine Tutorials sind) behalte ich meine Gedanken momentan für mich... das ist universell verständlich und ich muss nichts übersetzen. I've seen you have a cool DIY marking gage. May I suggest you can use it to mark (at least on the non visible parts) you boards thickness on both end of all 4 sides before cutting the dovetials ? This should make you life a lot easier when chiseling afterwards.

Nir nen tip. Lege dir was höheres gerades auf dein holz, so kannst du von oben besser und gerade durch stechen mit dem stecheisen .

Gaaaaanz genau 👍👍👍👍. Solche kleine Arbeiten lassen sich auch mit ner ziehklinge die nur ein paar cent kosten seeeehr schön abziehen .
Ich hab sogar eine Ziehklinge 'gebaut' (Shorts). Und ein Streichmaß (Video). Und irgendwann schaffe ich es, all diese Dinge in einem Projekt wie diesem zu vereinen!
