Ima be real lyrics wise the song was about coming of age and it kinda let kid cudi be himself nostalgia of before man on the moon?. Mixtape cudi was uptempo.. I think it was a nice break in the melo dramatic drug filled pessimistic perspective. If you going to shit on a classic then atleast sight lyrics. Cause lady gaga was a fucking monster during this era and she already was emo pop herself.
For me the whole thing with Cudi is he's super relatable. When he says "I'm your big brother," I really believe him. Everyone's goes through moments of darkness and self doubt or whatever, but you're never alone. There's always someone who cares. And of course he just sounds different from literally everyone else.
Same here , freshman 09 , that was the first album I heard where I felt the artist was just like me. The album released with perfect timing for where I was in my life to relate.
M.O.T.M 2 is my personal favorite but I love both records. If I had to pick a favorite song from this album it might be Alive. It's a really underrated track in my opinion.
@@modmon216 yeah I really like 1, but 2 was when I was completely sold. Like "ok this guy is different. The 1st record wasn't just a flash in the pan".
Unpopular opinion as much as I loved this album I still believe Man on the moon part 2 was better just bc how much darker it was and I do feel the lyrics on that was so much more crisp n meaningful. Cudi this generations GOAT 🐐
I feel like they aren't really painting 2009's music scene correctly. Genres were very separate and we didn't see a lot of black artists making genre less music based on raw emotion and becoming as popular and well known as Cudi. what Kid Cudi did was groundbreaking, it took years for other artists to catch up.
I was only 10 when MOTM came out. I didn’t really like listen listen to cudi until like 4-5 years later around freshman-sophomore year high school. Personal favorites r probably up up & away, soundtrack 2 my life, and cudi zone
I've never listened to any other Kid Cudi album because I don't think he could ever top Man on the Moon. I was so connected to that album that I never wanted to be disappointed by him.
Definitely Soundtrack 2 My Life. Felt that when the album dropped, the first verse related completely to me and let me know there were other people feeling the same way I felt
All this singing & melody shit in current rap is cause kid Cudi honestly cause without Cudi Kanye would have never made 808 which Cudi manly made for Kanye Which means we wouldn't have drake making music how he did meaning half of these new artist wouldn't be here
This album was the soundtrack to that summer for me and my friends. We were typical teenagers up to shenanigans and everyonce in a while getting in trouble. Cudi was playing the whole time. This album will always bring back memories of great company, great conversation, a smokey car, and a lot of chicken nuggets. Happy 10 years to Man on the Moon.

Preach!
I remember finding Cudi on MySpace during AKNC days. I heard heaven at nite during the trailer and have been a big fan since.
Future with the hums, the drug talk, the sadness, all that. He got from cudi
If that's the case, I'd have gotten it from Cudi too

Nobody talked about the narration that brought the project together. But definitely the reasons for many of the sounds today.

Kid Cudi is the originator plain and simple.
Here after Man On The Moon III 🤘
Kid Cudi is the only artist who truly got modern lonliness and depression like if you want Kids See Ghost 2
None of these new rappers would b able to exist if it wasn't for cudi

CUDI IS AWESOME
No skips
Should have had Pete Davidson here
Geto Boys in general I feel made that ok. Not just Face but Bushwick writing songs like "I just wanna die" i mean damn. It doesn't get more direct.
Cudi has been on my mind for a while now I hope he’s doing good
