    Looking at this vidro and seeing 635 now, Jesus Christ it's so unrecognizable, it's crazy to see how much an interstate can change in 13 years.

    I agree; the High Five interchange is truly an engineering marvel; driving along I-635, in particular, allows drivers to get an excellent vantage point of just how spectacular of an interchange it really is.
    Besides the High Five, there's also a pretty cool mix of older and newer stack interchanges along the length of I-635. Overall, it's up there amongst my favorite urban freeways in the country.

    The stack is more impressive from US 75 though. And the ramp lengths... mindboggling! True Texas style and I love it!

    I don't care if you're in L.A., Seattle, or Atlanta which I reside, Texas has the best thought out, planned, and executed highways in the U.S. This is coming from a Civil Engineer. Thanks for your videos.

    I'm going to disagree with the boring comment, too. It's true that for the most part our freeways are not all dark and smooth and glistening and neat but they're anything but boring. We have pretty nice approaches to our business districts, our interchanges are the biggest in the world, and since they're so wide and heavily-trafficked they look awesome at night. And our rural freeways are, imo, more delightful than those in the Midwestm with rolling hills, forests, ranches, desertscape, etc.

    Fear not. I've been doing field work out on the artery system of the Horseshoe interchange Improvement Design Build Project downtown over a two month period this year. That area is going to change very soon. It's going rougher driving that stretch in the coming years with construction.

  • @AlvinHDavernport
    @AlvinHDavernport 11 лет назад +1

    I highly doubt it. They're two engineering marvels on their own (the Autobahnen and the Texas Interstate Highway network), but one can't compare with the other. The Autobahnen are notoriously smooth and controlled to allow drivers to develop high speeds. Texas freeways are built to withstand (and optimize travel time for) more traffic than any other freeway network in the world, with concrete surfaces, lots of lanes, and high-capacity interchanges.

    I think the tolls will only be specially designated lanes, not the whole freeway. it's supposed to be similar to the HOT lanes on 91 in Cali or the HOT lanes that are being constructed along the Virginia side of the Beltway
