At 4:23 was where I was in a car wreck about 2 months ago. Traffic was getting heavy and my friend had rear ended the vehicle in front of us who was at a complete stop at around 45mph. We all walked out with minor injuries, and all thankful to be alive.
I love these videos you make. I don't live in Houston but I would like to one day. I'm not use to traffic and hwy systems due to growing up in a 100,000 person city. When ever I go there I travel by car and I am sooo facinated with the hwy system there. I have to admit I thought I was gonna die the first time I drove I-45 to Galveston. As the trips have gone by the hwys get more thrilling to drive on everytime, its very free feeling and fun. Music is fantastic!!!!
That building at 3:58 doesn't really give engineers any room to widen or expand I-45 in the future if they wanted to. Perhaps they'd double-deck it? Thanks for the comprehensive coverage you gave this road in this video. Great job!!
Well, the city is building a new N Sheperd Dr interchange replacing the old interchange. The Southbound lanes of the interchange will be open soon. The northbound lanes are open.
@ScrewdUPClickV2 Honestly, I don't know how anyone can underestimate Houston traffic like that. Here in Chicago, I remember people warning me of the terrible traffic going into and out of the loop at rush hour... and you know what, it's like a walk in the park compared to I-45 on a Saturday morning, which was my latest experience with that behemoth of a freeway. Even Katy fwy with 20-something lanes is more of a pain at 6 pm going into the city (not even out to the suburbs!!) than Chicago fwys.
@CosmoPhotography neither does the hospital at 3:52 (speaking of, i believe thats st. lukes? whats up with the left side of the cross.. was this a new addition that you caught before they finished it?). there are quite a few restrictions on 45, and that area gets really congested during rush hour. double deck (would be houstons first) is probably the only option unless they figured out a way/path to bypass downtown.
I only drive in traffic in Houston like that at like 5 am. Left late work this morning (5/12/13) and got knocked of the gulf freeway going south fatality id I had left work on time might have been involved
Thanks for posting this video. I've driven on this freeway many times, so its quite familiar. Was this taken on a weekday afternoon,or maybe on a weekend? Rush hour would have a lot more traffic.
look out Chicago, Houston is catching up to you in population size. Houston could soon be the new #3 and Chicago moves down to #4 largest city in the USA
AidenDerp Interstate 45 ends in a 5, which means that it should be a cross country route like Interstate 55. Interstate 47 as suggested would be a much better number for this route as it is wholly in Texas and is not a cross country interstate.

Excellent work, enjoyed the ride, 5* as always!
3:10 - 3:45 Damn I LOVE seein' that skyline from all directions...
Thanks for the ride and show the nice videos as always
I have never seen a busier highway in my life. Seriously, it's like it's always extremely busy, at any time any day.
Just noticed the "7:13".
Nice touch...

Boston home of the Boston Boston Tannden bull espree in Ultimate Supreme Football, Boston Health Healers in MLBaseball, Boston Bounce in PLB (NBA)
Texas's urban freeway roadsides are ugly though... nothing but commercial strips and billboards. Luckily the awesome freeway makes up for it!
@aswchris I absolutely agree, but that's mostly I-45 in Houston. Not all of them are like that. Austin roadsides are much better.
Full for to be cheap in the usa?
Fuck u

LA is 2nd. Chicago is 3rd. Houston is 4th
That should be I-47.
