She touches and hits so many bullseye's in this speech. There's something old school about her and that's what makes her classy. Yes, Jodie, no reality show or press conference from you a la Kardashians and luv ya all the more for it. No ever badmouthing from her either about fellow actors or directors, and she's seen EVERYTHING in Hollywood to write a book ! She keeps it real, low key and good humored, and that's prob how she is when the cameras aren't rolling. So many great movies and iconic performances. She lets her work speak for a life that's fully lived and realized. Finally lost it when she gives that moving tribute to her mom at the end. Bravo ! Miss ya, Jodie !
Not many speeches go down like this. This was real. Everyone is always talking bout authenticity. Well ya just saw it folks. when I grow up, I want to be Jodie Foster. Impossible. she's one of a kind.
I see 45 thumbs down..none of my business..but how do you give a thumbs down after listening to that brilliance and courage, the elegance and honesty, the fire and sizzle and all done in an arena of humility, self love and gratitude...how that wasn't inspiring to everyone is baffling.. That's the Internet? We all get our opinion. And I love and respect Jodi Foster!!!
Kristen Stewart reminds me so much of Jodie. Their mannerism are exactly the same, and the montage made me realize how alike they are. I hope she gets to have an incredible career, just like her.
No way is Kristen Stewart like Jodie Foster. Her acting is wooden stiff and she doesn't have the emotional range of Jodie.besides Jodie is smart, funny and sensitive while kristen is clumsy, awkward and lack self confidence.
Jodie Foster may be awkward in public and quirky just like Kristen Stewart, but when it comes to talent, there's no comparison, Kristen Stewars has none.
Kristen Stewart does have talent outside of the Twilight movies. The reason I know this is because she was in Panic Room. David Fincher would never have cast her in that film if she couldn't play that role
David Fincher though does do a lot of takes and there is a lot of performance variation in those takes, so I don't think he would hire an actor/actress who wasn't able to give him a wide range
Waooo Jodie Foster let me take my hat off for you and pay you my deepest heartfelt respect. You are so unique and courageuse. I know nobody else that is so courageous to come out with its heart crying specially in front this oh so perfect hollywood crowd. You really make a difference. Thank you for being so true. U r truly a shining 🌟. ❤️💖
Judie Foster.. A so amazing & intelligent woman.. A so great actress.. So honest & touching speech... But surprise.. She's not "single" anymore.. Jodie marries Alexandra Hedison in secret wedding.. Now she's a married woman.. Another secret bash!.. Well.. I think that Judie deserves to live her life as she chooses, and to be happy. My respect and admiration goes to those who are true to themselves, their integrity is inspirational.
Absolutely love this woman! 100% class act, awesome actress, great director, and knows how to give a proper speech! Been a fan since I was a kid and will continue to think of her as an inspiration! Best of luck to her in whatever she decides to do, she is truly an amazing woman!
I know I must have commented on this video before but wow! What a speech. The bit where she addresses her mother is so emotional and she words that part like a poet. Kudos, Jodie Foster!
One of the most beautiful things about this speech apart from everything was that she thanked and mentioned every individual who was present their to support her from Mel Gibson to even Robert Downey Jr's wife as well
A person would have to be a dense block of wood not to be affected by Jodie's speech. She stands apart as a sane and gracious island in a roiling sea of ego craziness typical of Hollywood. I have met some of those nitwits so I know how Jodie is really special. Much love and admiration.
I'm still shocked that this legend hasn't received the Afi Life achievement award & Kennedy Centre Honours yet, but I'm glad Golden Globes got it right
amazing . I have loved her since I was a kid who watched silence of the lambs way to young with my dad. That film stayed with me all the years after when I did a university thesis on it 5 years ago and I still hold it up as my holy grail of monster movies. what an incredible actress and person she is. I really hope she becomes a regular awards heavyweight again and gets some graceful roles befitting such a queen of the screen
She is very committed and with a lot of confidence and VERY intelligent!!! I love her since I saw her in her first movies, for me is "Schweigen der Lämmer/The silence of the Lambs" one of the best movies ever. She is a rolemodel in this time of social media. Since now no Insta or facebook - only fanpages. She looks for her privat life and this is absolutly right!
I am a fan of Jodie foster. I wouldn't say a raging fan but that was one of the greatest speeches ever. She said so much, never stumbled on her words, wasn't reading from a script although she obviously worked on it. Her intelligence never stopped shining through
She makes 50 look 30! Yet you can tell she’s aged naturally and beautifully, and you can tell she takes care of herself, protects her skin, eats right and works out. She looks healthy and fit, radiant and absolutely stunning. As a gay woman, who came out later in life, not only do I respect her tremendously and felt immense joy and pride when she did this, I also intimately and personally know the courage it took her to do this. And her thanks to her Mom was so heartfelt, bittersweet (does her mom have dementia?? To me Jodie’s speech seemed to allude to as much) and meaningful, it moved me to tears. Besides being an incredible actress, one of the very best of her generation, Jodie Foster is strength, class, intelligence, humility, and genuineness personified. Focusing heavily on the coming out aspect of her speech, many seem to skip over the fact that this speech also contains her announcement to semi retire from stage and screen. Which is a bit sad considering her enormous talent on screen and behind the camera; yet I cannot wait to see what she does next. I’m thinking either teaching acting as an honorary professor at her alma mater or writing novels. She’s incredibly intelligent with a genius level IQ and MENSA membership, learned to read and was memorizing lines at 3 years of age, was valedictorian of her senior class, is an Ivy League, magna cum laude graduate of Yale University which also awarded her an honorary doctorate, and is fluent in four languages. I’d wager her success at anything she puts her mind too. 👍
You can tell that wasn't an easy speech to do. She has a lot of courage and is someone to look up to!
@Patricia A. Badea She's revealing something very private to the public. She's known to be a very private person.
Definitely, someone to look up to.
She was criticised by people in the gay community who wondered why she waited so long too come out @MarCapa-ed5uv
The very reason these words exist: Class, beauty, kindness, integrity and talent! What a remarkable lady!
and privacy 🙏
Everyone only remembers this speech for her 'coming out' but what really stands out is her thank you to her Mum. So, so sad and sweet xx
Coming out was a highlight coz that's something no one did before at a major Hollywood film award but I think people appreciate everything about it
@@siddharthnaagar7028 She was criticized for this speech if anything, pretty badly too.
That's what I remember too and the part about her future.
That woman has so much class and that isn't seen so much anymore.
+Malorey I didn't know *anything* about her until I saw the movie 'contact' that baffled me and left me utterly speechless.
Just tell me that you saw ''the silence of the lambs''
50!? she looks like she's 30 here! she's gorgeous, smart, and talented. I hope i look this good when i'm 50.
so true
Smart, talented, beautiful and don't forget that she speaks frensh fluently🤗😘😘from Algeria.
@Patricia A. Badea lmao she didnt its just tons of makeup , not every beautiful women must do plastic surgeries
I think Botox is pretty standard
@@JayJay-wg5ex I think you're pretty obnoxious, but we all have faulty and ignorant opinions sometimes... You just chose to publicize yours.
When you are so smart and eloquent that you make a crowd of drunk people listen you for straight 7 mins, then you are the GOAT
Never saw it that way 😂, so true.
She’s a great talent, but it is definitely her dignified persona whom I really admire.
She is the manifestation of grace. You don't see that much anymore.
The woman is super intelligent
It moved me when she expressed love for her mom. If only all persons could love every other person that way. This world would be heaven on earth.
Jodie foster rules.
+Rashanda Grier Absolutely.
Ayy yeah, she's my friend's great aunt! I have not met her, but yeah she's a good actor
Alright.
+Sam Jacobs She's a truly remarkable actress
Not too late for Jodie to be a president!
Sadly she isn't political
Riia Luhtanen
No, she is too good to be president
fuck off
l'd vote for her in an NY second. l have my doubts that is where her future lies though.
I only have 3 words to say: Best speech ever.
She touches and hits so many bullseye's in this speech.
There's something old school about her and that's what makes her classy.
Yes, Jodie, no reality show or press conference from you a la Kardashians and luv ya all the more for it.

So many great movies and iconic performances.
She lets her work speak for a life that's fully lived and realized.
Finally lost it when she gives that moving tribute to her mom at the end. Bravo !
Miss ya, Jodie !
This is literally the best personal speech of all-time
I cried back then. I cried again.
Not many speeches go down like this. This was real. Everyone is always talking bout authenticity. Well ya just saw it folks. when I grow up, I want to be Jodie Foster. Impossible. she's one of a kind.
Jodie is a loyal woman. I respect that she stood by Mel Gibson.
That’s what friends are supposed to do.
Unfortunately, not everyone remembers that
Her tribute to her mom is just the most beautiful, poignant and brilliant thing ever 👌👌
This is the best speech I've ever heard...
Pure class.
Brønanny you're cute!!!!
This is the greatest award speech of all time. Jodie Foster not only one of film history famous actress but authentic person, rare in Hollywood.
She is a one tough cookie, a very smart one as well.
SO unbelievably attractive.
So Many Child Stars could learn from her. I knew she was Gay when I was a Teenager, yet she had this maturity that set her apart from her peers.
laminage Agreed even when she was only about 16 she came across like world weary 40 year old.
People forget she is a former child prodigy
Genius is literally an understatement for Jodie

👍👍👍👍👍👍
Jodie is a unique one, one of a kind, a league of her own
one of the greatest speeches to ever exist she is a legend
She looks really young, blooming and blithesome for her age...
she is a beautiful human being, and I adore her
Amazing speech by a brilliant talent and person.
Jodie always stands apart, her legacy is unmatchable
One of the most amazing speeches. Elegance. Intelligence. Brilliance. Jodie Foster, May you reign for many years to come.
Kristen Stewart reminds me so much of Jodie. Their mannerism are exactly the same, and the montage made me realize how alike they are. I hope she gets to have an incredible career, just like her.

Kristen Stewart does have talent outside of the Twilight movies. The reason I know this is because she was in Panic Room. David Fincher would never have cast her in that film if she couldn't play that role
yeah it wasn't a complex performance it was a teenager playing a diabetic teenager and wow that was sooo complicated to do lmfao
David Fincher though does do a lot of takes and there is a lot of performance variation in those takes, so I don't think he would hire an actor/actress who wasn't able to give him a wide range
She is smart, elegant, and touching. What a speech.
Her tribute to her mother is everything
One of the most beautiful speeches ever
She is one of the greats in a short period of time. 47 Years, and still young. WOW
Normal is not something to aspire to, it is something to get away from - Jodie Foster - just brilliant as she is!
Thank you for saying this.
BEST SPEECH EVER!! class...poise...well spoken...humble...and humorous..amazing.
One of the best speeches I have ever heard, how heartfelt. Bless you Jodie Foster.
A very intelligent, complex human being.
I love her so much... she's the best.
BRAD PITT There's an Inside man 2?

I have given everything since i was 3 years old. That's reality show, don't you think ?
Quan Dang What a brilliant statement by one of the world's most brilliant actresses!
That statement has a lot of leverage
Total class act
Class and Grace! One aspect that resonated the most with me..........."Privacy". Gotta respect that!
Absolutely amazing. Amazing.
This was so moving. I was in tears. I so love and respect this fabulous actress who continues to live her life on her own terms.
Great speech from one of my favourite actress ever!
One of the most moving speeches I've her heard. Respect to Jodi Foster.
Absolutely love this woman! 100% class act, awesome actress, great director, and knows how to give a proper speech! Been a fan since I was a kid and will continue to think of her as an inspiration! Best of luck to her in whatever she decides to do, she is truly an amazing woman!
Her oldest son is so cute lol
She's absolutely lovely
I know I must have commented on this video before but wow! What a speech. The bit where she addresses her mother is so emotional and she words that part like a poet. Kudos, Jodie Foster!
Great actress, great woman. I loved every picture she was in.
Greatest speech of all time. Next to Merritt Wevers.
Hands down to the best of the best
Jodie foster was here, im still here...
To be not so lonely...
Thank u 4d company...
Wow!
Goddamn, she's the greatest.
One of the most beautiful things about this speech apart from everything was that she thanked and mentioned every individual who was present their to support her from Mel Gibson to even Robert Downey Jr's wife as well
The obtuse metaphors in this speech are incredible, you can say she's such a genius
Hands down the best speech ever at an awards ceremony
This is THE BEST AWARD ACCEPTANCE SPEECH I've heard in my entire life.
what an exceptionally brilliant speech
Wow, she sure knows how to speak in public. :) (duuuhh. I know)
Awesome woman!
Well she only has been doing it for 48 years. lol
Akadius1776 Yeah would be bad if she hadn't mastered it by now :p

Noe Berengena Truer words were never spoken.
She's not a bimbo Hollywood actor she graduated high school as a valedictorian , went to Yale and graduated as a topper and assumedly has an IQ of 120
There are some speeches which became an instant classic, this is one of those speeches
I'm still shocked that this legend hasn't received the Afi Life achievement award & Kennedy Centre Honours yet, but I'm glad Golden Globes got it right
I can't wait for her to receive the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award
Jodie, you are a beautiful soul, a beautiful woman and a wonderful talent. I am so happy you are on this planet.
Hugs from Toronto Canada !
The beauty, the integrity❤
whoa.. That was emotional.. I love her so much. Great lady!
At times it must be pressurising for Jodie herself to be one of a kind
I browsed cuz I m missing you Jodie I love u so much . !! I hope your re always healthy and safe . I want to see you movies again .')
I love Jodie❤️
10:53 What a beautiful tribute to her mother, I got all misty eyed

Oprah and Meryl should be ashamed of their virtue signals. Jodie Foster's speech slays their asses.
I wish I had that grace.
what a speech
Amazing intelligent woman

Jodie Foster is national treasure
one of the most talented actresses of all time
I love her. This touches me everytime. This classy lady made the perfect speech and it was all about love.
I thought that it was impossible to be THAT cocky (which is a Jodie Foster we'd never seen before) AND ALSO graceful at the same time. I was wrong.
I love her! She is one of the best actresses ever alongside with Nicole Kidman, Julianne Moore and Meryl Streep.
I am a fan of Jodie foster. I wouldn't say a raging fan but that was one of the greatest speeches ever. She said so much, never stumbled on her words, wasn't reading from a script although she obviously worked on it. Her intelligence never stopped shining through
What a beautiful speech
What a very good speech! big fan of her!
I love the way she brought the curtain down on her film career. with, class and elegance what a way to say I'm retiring.
She didn't ment she's retiring she said that she will now be pursuing something different, directing
She makes 50 look 30! Yet you can tell she’s aged naturally and beautifully, and you can tell she takes care of herself, protects her skin, eats right and works out. She looks healthy and fit, radiant and absolutely stunning.

Even extraordinary seems to be an understatement for this legend
I wanna have her confidence it's so amazing wow just wow
and Home for the holidays is my favorite holiday movie
Please run for president ! And I'm not even american.
That speech is amazing
Genius is literally an understatement for this legend
Really?
Seriously? Genius?
Jodie Foster has proven time and time why she is and will always be a league of her own 💪💪💪🙌🙌
The greatest woman ever
