    The first thing you noticed about Jodie Foster is how accomplished she is as an actor. Then, after a few interviews, you realise that she is so accomplished because she is deeply thoughtful about everything. I'm glad she mentioned about acting in her 70s when she gets there because that will be something to look forward to. I just hope I'm still around to see her.

    • @Kristian-vb5dk
      @Kristian-vb5dk 6 месяцев назад +1

      Jodie Foster summarized it very well. Watching any Robert De Niro interview is a snooze fest as he does not have anything interesting to say to anybody. That kind of makes him even better actor, though. Many legendary actors are very charismatic in real life too and can do great roles by being pretty much themselves in the screen. De Niro's best days are far behind, but when he did great performances, he actually transformed to a complete different animal, which takes great skill. However, in these days De Niro lacks that passion in acting and thus his lack of natural charisma is also painfully evident in most movies he has done after mid 90's.

A very smart accomplished woman who has stuck true to her identity and values throughout her Hollywood exposure. And she was never caught up in the ego personality quest of stardom. In fact I think she really has disliked it and it has kept her more low profile in her later years, especially after the infamous stalking incident that caused a lot of damage to other people.

    Back in the late 90s I almost went into a fight because of her. Not her fault lol. University student and was watching Contact in a small room with other students. I had already seen the movie and enjoyed it very much, also a fan of Jodie Foster. Two other students behind me, especially one of them, were making fun of the movie and of Jodie in particular. It was annoying partly because who wants to hear someone talking during a screening, but also because he was actively making fun of her. For some reason that pissed me off more than I had ever before in similar situations, or since. I stood up and moved towards him and threatened him. He said that they will meet me outside when the movie ends. He (they) never came.
    I always had a soft spot for her as an actor and I guess even more in that movie which was the perfect storm. I love her, sci-fi, Carl Sagan, that movie. I am glad it didn't end up in an actual fight, that would have been stupid. I still don't regret my reaction.

    De Niro reminds me of non-dualist Gary Weber. He trained his mind through thousands of hours of meditation to completely stop the "blah blah," or running dialogue we all have running through our minds. De Niro often has that same blank expression on his face when not being engaged that Weber has. I just think that De Niro comes to it more naturally. Their minds are drawn to stillness, rather than activity.

A couple of her movies are some of my favorites, and when I did a little search of her while watching this, she's got very many great movies. It's actually nice to see someone who started as a child, get to this level and not crashed and burned. Her mom deserves a lot of credit. Too many of these Hollywood parents pushed there kids into it for the money, and didn't seem to care about the bad side of it.

      And I think - maybe I'm wrong? - it was filmed in the U.K. Twickenham Studios?
      Foster also appeared in another film sone years later ("Foxes" for those who aren't familiar with it), with Bugsy co-star Scott Baio, in a film directed by another Brit who came from that same advertising background and era as Parker, and made it big in Hollywood: Adrian Lyne.
