To say that we are excited to have sailed to Africa in our floating home is an understatement, we keep pinching ourselves to make sure this isn't a dream.
When we were invited by our patron and friend Josh to spend three days living with one of Tanzania's oldest tribes, we jumped at the idea. A tribe similar to Masai in appearance and livelihood, the Masai call them Mang 'ati, the enemy - they call themselves Datoga. This is the real Africa, naked and raw. Ahead are three days of travel inland to meet these ancient tribal warriors.

@jonathanscott550 gosh god luck with that. Rachel's mother has a knee replacement last week and is doing well. Just saying😊
@@TheCruisingKiwis Thanks I had my right knee done last November and still recovering from it, but much better. My surgeon says it can take up to two years. Each patient is different in their recovery times. My right must be getting better as the surgeon did say if my right knee was not strong enough to support me when I have my left knee done he'd delay the operation until I had the strength to support.
Hope Rachel's mother is up and about.
That is one of my favorite episodes. Can't wait for next week, an elder at the ripe old age of 51 🤔
Thank you Amanda. To clarify, he had 51 children. I think he was late 90s when he died.

@@We-to9gp I forgot to mention he had 9 wives. His eldest child is in her 70’s and the youngest is about 4.

What a truly incredible episode. Africa is an enchanting place. We landed in Cape Town and took the garden tour along the southern coast, ending up on the east coast. We dipped out feet in the Indian Ocean and then went to a private game preserve for a week long photo safari. It is still hard to believe the experience. I really enjoyed this and look forward to the second one.
What a wonderful experience for you all. Where did you dip your toes in the Indian Ocean? Africa is fast becoming my favourite country, so much to offer, and we’ve only seen Tanzania. The people are happy and welcoming.

I should have mentioned he had 9 wives. Certainly not as warm as NZ hot pools but enchanting. A great pick me up on a dusty road trip.

That is ALL Africa! Where you drove looks pretty much like everywhere I've been in Africa. The amount of vegetation changes as per the local ecosystem but that's about all. Will I ever get back there?

The springs are very similar to Wikki Warm Springs in East Central Nigeria. Very similar ecosystem too. Dry woodland savannah.

OMG... Thats the same place my NZ friend and his wife lived and worked in when they wentvout to Tanzina. Moshi dont even try it in the rainy season . The holes swallow trucks in the mud.😂🧙🏻♂️🇬🇧

You found some of the pot holes dry.. there's also the black cotton soils which just do swallow articulated lorries in them.
In 1984 the then new channel 4 TV did a series called Africar, a car for the ordinary road. A brilliant concept and experiment to take 3 experimental vehicles from the Artic Circle to the Arctic circle ...using lashup engines and gearboxes but genius Wood epoxy bodies vehicles using a hybrid Citroen Moulton suspension theres a good account of it plus and minus's all before e motors etc. on U tube.

Only been in Morocco... But I can say Africa is a wonderful, some times quite too much wild, land!! Love that natural, wild pool!! Worth the bumpy and dusty road. Fun and healing with tbose little fishes.
How long was the pool's tunnel?

Yeah, I didn’t see the two second transition. I guess I must’ve done but I didn’t know which one it was. I know what you mean about taking four hours on a video! It takes an awful long time to edit. Nobody realizes that unless you’ve done it yourself, your videos are always wonderful thank you.
I wish it only took 4 hours to edit the whole video, but alas, that was the time wasted on a little flourish that was totally unnecessary.

Something you discover when travelling, is that different countries have varying standards of safety. The seat belts in the back of this ute were merely ornamental, there was nothing to plug them in to.

@@isabelleb.1270 What I’m hearing is our first thumbnail did not distract you from clicking on an historical channel first. The analytics told us the same thing, hence the change. Many channels have a second thumbnail in the wings should their CTR be lower than normal.
