I had no idea Hugh had such a great rock voice. Zal looks like a mix of Captain Sensible and Ian Dury here but his sound and feel are unmistakable. Solid foundation as always from Chris and Ted (may he rest in peace).

These guys are incredible musicians who made everything look effortless. Of course having played together for so long they were as tights as a gnats arse :-)

I remember watching this on the OGWT at the time, I think it must've been fairly early 1977 as I bought the album in Gorey, Co. Wexford that easter. I was surprised to see it for sale in a shop in rural Ireland considering that I had to buy the SAHB albums that I couldn't get in Dublin on a trip to London in the summer of 1976. Still have my vinyl copy...

I can't help but hear Alex in front of this. Such a shame they couldn't keep it together.

Brilliant stuff. Sadly I missed out when they toured this album - I think they played Jilly's basement in Manchester and I was gutted that I'd missed them. It wasn't until the noughties when I caught them at a small club in Ashton under Lyne called the Wytchwood and managed to have a chat with Hugh McKenna and told him what a great song Smouldering was.
