Lyrics
You’ve got me girl
On the runaround runaround
Got me all around town
You’ve got me girl
On the runaround
And it’s getting me down
Lady
If you want to find a lover
Then you look no further
For I’m gonna be your only
Searching
At the start of the season
And my only reason
Is that I’ll get you
I’ll find some
Way of connection
Hiding my intention
Then I’ll move up close to you
I’ll use you
And I’ll confuse you
And then I’ll lose you
Still you won’t suspect me
I followed Roxy everywhere from 1973..The clothes that you wore were the stamp of being in a Roxy crew.. When I look at the old photos from back then I can't believe how we all posed like models..no smiling just posing!!😂 We thought we were better than any other bands fans! Omg so embarrassing!😂So many amazing memories..we all hung out in the Crazy Daizy club in Sheffield..I still see some of the crew and we all still wear little accents of clothing that stand out from everyone else..My youth started with Roxy and I'm still with them after all these years!
Love this track. ☮️💓🇬🇧
I wish I was there ❤
I was born in 2003 ❤
I was one of that crew, an amazing time. Going to the Blue Bell and then to the Crazy Daisy - brilliant
@@pauladamson8684 OMG! That's amazing..I must have seen you! And yeah the Blue Bell..!
You would definitely know my mates! ..Last saw Brian at the City Hall not too long ago but couldn't make the Roxy tour at Manchester..last year I think it was.
yeah dood but I grew up way later and saw all those pictures and believed you! All the style and attitude is fun and pictures of the kids that got to be there are the most!
@@CoffinBanger You would have been buzzing! I wouldn't change time for anything..the inspiration of Roxy led me into Fashion art & music.. I lived that life & still do! You just keep looking at Roxy & they WILL inspire you.sending ☮️💓🇬🇧
I love that Eno comes in on the flight controls and starts dialing in coordinates for the home planet. They're taking this song to terrafirma
in gold gloves, no less.
I’m 15 and had recently started listening to Bryan Ferry and Roxy music’s songs after first listening to ladytron and 2HB from the movie ‘velvet goldmine’ and I’m literally obsessed now. 5 of their songs have suddenly become part of my most top favourite songs along with David Bowie and Queen. I’m so glad I found out about them!
Bowie anything with mick Ronson, Avalon album by Roxy music.
forget queen thats a collection of novelty songs
I saw them in Hamburg when i was 16 and they blew my mind. Now i am 58 and still a fan.
Velvet Goldmine was also my introduction to Roxy Music! Though probably a good decade earlier
I was 15 when Killer Queen charted and it blew my mind. Another great song from that year was Tell Him by Hello.
This era. There is something undefinable. It's greasy. It's seedy. It's sophisticated. It's rough and slick at the same time. It's beautiful and weird. It's Roxy Music defined.
Absolutely, brilliantly expressed! Thank you!
You have just defined it
A brilliant description, and i know what you mean. It's exactly how i feel when i listen to Soft Cell. Yes, different music, a different time, but after listening to Soft Cell, i feel dirty. I can't explain. Listen to Sex Dwarf. Punchy, dirty, and seedy. Total brilliance.
@@tilerman Yes. Filthy. Seedy. The song that really gets me is a Marc Almons solo track that I originally knew from the Some Bizarre comp, If You Can't Please Yourself, You Can't Please Your Soul. It's called Love Amongst The Ruined. I believe it was a collaboration with Jim Thirwell (Foetus) Amazing song. Makes me want a shower.
Perfect description!
A round of applause for Roxy drummer Paul Thompson. Completely underrated and completely integral to their sound.
My god this is fabulous. No band ever sounded or looked like this, and 46 years later it's still utterly unique. Simply mind blowing talent in this lineup.
I like a lot of Roxy, not this song. The melody is good but too much mellotron and flute. Not into electronica. I guess Art Prog or more experimental stuff is not my thing so much. My favs are Love is the Drug, Virginia Plain, Avalon, More than this, Dance Away, Out of the Blue, All I want is You. And don't savage me but Brian Eno is not my thing at least on this song. Wondering if Peter Gabriel is going to pop out of Genesis and help out with some prancing around.
@@oppothumbs1 Its definitely better to view live than listen to on vinyl may have passed this up if not for the performance art aspect - like those fly eye shades in the guitar player, lol. Wow.
@@oppothumbs1 no Mother of Pearl on that list of yours.....
LoL
True! Great sense of style and unique sound. They were fresh and still feel like that.
I love how Bryan Ferry always looks so stoned when singing
Bryan is truly in lounge lizard mode here.
He is acting!!!
@@maryli2049 I think sleaziness is his true nature.I don’t think that’s just his stage persona. And if it wasn’t it took over at some point.

Can you believe they put a band like this on TV in Great Britain in the early 70s? Why yes. Yes I can. God bless em!!!!
And can you believe how much great stuff the BBC wiped in their infinite wisdom? Bastards!
Exactly , the British dare ,when no one else does .👍This is one of thousands of reasons , that i am an Anglophile ( but i am sadly born in the wrong country - Denmark ) .
@@mariadaugbjerg6141Thanks for Legos!
@@mariadaugbjerg6141Don't feel ashamed of that. You know of their music and that's good enough!
Yep, god bless the old grey whistle test. So many excellent sessions on that prog. We used to watch it late at night. I mean you don't think they would have dared play it prime time ... (:-)))
those first two albums were SO groundbreaking and ahead of their time, that we STILL haven't reached it.
I've heard nothing like it before or since. Roxy were totally in their own zone.
I bought the first three albums, its only the first two I listen to still this day, Roxy died when Eno departed for me.
This is one of those songs that goes beyond mere songwriting. It comes from another dimension that only a very few songwriters can achieve.
Musical alchemy!
Probably the most unique British band we have ever had
Amen. I’m not even British but Eno era Roxy Music was peak, alongside Bowie and Marc Bolan
King Crimson and Van Der Graaf Generator would like a word with you...
The Sensational Alex Harvey Band were up there too
@@danw1374 definitely I saw them twice in mid to late 70s
@@synthonaplinth5980Gentle Giant too
I really miss the Whistle Test, best program on TV, EVER. They introduced a great many people to bands that the main stream and the radio just would not play.
Yeah like judas priest!
They should dump Jools Holland and bring back something like Whistle Test...!
Several times I saw someone on Whistle Test that I'd never even heard of before and went out and bought the album the next day.
@@agnostic47 John Otway and Wild willy barrett! Lol
David Bowie comes to mind!
Phil Manzanera, underrated guitarist and Bryan Ferry is an icon in his own right.
Undies!!
Manzanera got better and better as time went on! Solo album diamond Head is a classic!
Underrated: a loser’s favorite word 😂😂😂😂
Love it how Manzanera and Eno just go off towards the coda. Awesome example of amazing art rock.
Even better ruclips.net/video/uVeKIroLwQE/видео.html
Instruments mimed.
Hard to believe I have been playing this band for 50+ years and nothing today can match their sophistication and style😅
Even though I am over 50, I had missed early Roxy. But luckily I found them in 2012. So now I'm sold too.
Amazing to think just 14 years between this prog delight and 1958 when rock n roll was experiencing its hey day.
The comments are worth the price of admission alone. The music is amazing.
tune starts with an Oboe solo WHO DOES THIS?????
Bryan Ferry is easily the coolest dude ever in music
this band was so ahead of its time
Roxy will always be ahead of their time, even in a million years they'll still be marveling at this unique band.
@@astrophonix no they were totally of and in their own time, unfortunately, time has moved on and what is regurgitated as 'music' nowadays is soulless, derivative shit.
It was always Eno for me. Don't get me wrong, love Bryan, LOVE HIM... but Eno. Yeah.
OBOE la grande classe
@@richardroyle9123 Nah, you're just really lazy. Your parents would be proud of you, you've become them. ;)
Andy Mackay's oboe playing is so important to this song. Just love it!
8 years later he would play for Prince Barron in Flash Gordon.
Andy MacKay is so important to
Roxy .
Yes the oboe is rarely used in popular/rock music.....
When it appears, it always sounds extra special.....
@@martinobrien7110 He's a good writer too, I've got his book on Electronic Music, a great history of the genre.
..and that green outfit to boot!
I love Prog Rock I'm 70 years old I love Manzanera and Brian Eno but as a youngster I never quite got Roxy Music's music I never did!
Unapologetically weird and decadent. Love you Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music!
Hi. Your first sentence describes Roxy Music beautifully. Innovators, flamboyant, original and just so darn good.
Brian Ferry is so very... everything !
Roxy Music is the drug I'm thinking of.
Amazing performance from Phil Manzanera and Brian Eno! Bring back the 70's!
Roxy Music - Ladytron (Old Grey Whistle Test, 1972) 8.10.23 0558am these guys are gettin' on... and not one of their grand kids or nephews and nieces has the balls to tell them to eff of grandad it's someone else's turn as they did in the mid 80's...when music came to a sudden halt cos the post punks offended the sensibilities of light entertainment which all this b.s stems from anyway.... medieval is how i see ferry end eno. which is odd.... probably stuck in a Bruegel painting.
Reminder: Phil Manzanera has compound eyes and sees all things from all directions across time.
They made this music when their ship passed close to the Earth Circa 1972
Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame 2019! CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Too bad that whole thing is so hokey, absurdly self-congratulatory, and just lame.

Meh....
The 80th century transdimensional rockers travelled back in time for us to get a glimpse of THE SOUND OF THE FUTURE
Cheers from Cologne 😀🍷🇩🇪🎉
Organized chaos.... it all makes sense. Ahead of their time. So glad we have films like this to remind us.
How dare people forget how innovative Roxy Music were with Eno in the line up.
.. and without him too
What a gem - They were so ahead of the game.
I love how there's a concert happening, and Eno is just playing Pacman in the corner
Stan's Backhand 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lolololol
Can't! stop! laughing!
😂😂😂
Pacman AND Battleship!
45 years ago listening to this wearing my green suede five inch wood platforms and glitter nail polish....those are still the days...never let it die or you do..
Amen
Wow. You must have been a real vixen. Good on you!
Imagine a world where this could be broadcast for consumption by the general public.
The general public doesn't want this anyhow.
We’re living it. Only difference now is we can choose what and where to broadcast material for ourselves.
How wonderful that each of of us choses our own readily available entertainment.
FlashBastard1964 Yes, because the general public do not deserve such genius....they are not worthy.
it was - I remember this on the TV from the the early 70s, it was not outrageous at the time; just yet another piece of original, experimental music - try that description now with any 'new' music; it's all derivative, talentless shit.
When I heard this as a youngster I wondered what the hell it was. Now that's absolutely magical.
50 years later and this is still amazing!!
Good god that drummer is just brilliant
RUclips randomly played this to me one day, I initially wanted to skip to the next song but something about the oboe player put me in a trance, then the music kicked in and I felt I might have stumbled upon the greatest song ever created :) Then I discovered Roxy Music have tons of the greatest songs ever created. I can listen to their first four albums on repeat
'Sea breezes' almost sounds like classical music. These guys took art to another level in the 70s!
Was aged around 16 when first heard the band Roxy Music total legends but at that age there was so many outstanding bands . feel sorry for the young generation today they missed out on an awesome period
Agree, EARLY Roxy Music!
@@nicolagalton9457 yes....agreed. After 1975 probably, they went mainstream and slightly Vegas.
I was 15 when I first heard them it was in Glasgow during the power cuts...VIVA..
50 years old and it still sounds like the future
How I wish Ferry/ Roxy had continued like this. Genius!
Ferry was jealous of Eno
@@Dejahthoris22 not exactly jealous, but he wanted to be the only one... and Eno had too much ideas. originality and charisma to be a simple supporting actor
One of my favorite songs ever. The realest of the surreal. Knockout lyrics that are fire and ice. I will always love this era of Roxy Music. It is everything and brilliantly extra. 💋
Why don't people really appreciate how much Roxy contributed to Rock music, pop music, rock and popular culture.
I do believe they are beginning to be recognised more and more, however when you think of Bowie and the incredible ( and absolutely deserved) respect he gets, Roxy, so deserve their place next to the greatest like David!
We do.
Because Bryan Ferry.
It's insane how good this is. Everything is here. As long as we live we don't need anything more than this. Every time I watch it I am awe struck and so turned on I don't know what to do with myself. Thank you Roxy. I love you.
I'm so happy that someone as young as15is listening to Roxy Music, good for you young man. This band was or I should say still being BRILLIANT.I must say thanks to them many other bands where influenced by Roxy Music. So many great artists came out of this era,not to mention ahead of there time.
I remember back in 1973 when I was doing a once a week progressive rock show on an AM station in New London, CT and the sales manager came in and handed me Roxy Music and said play "Virginia Plain." So I did and was very impressed. I then decided to play "Ladytron" and was totally blown away. Thank you Billy Morey for turning me onto Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry. What a superb high. Oh yeah, they still knock me out at 70 years of age.
This video is incredibly rare version with the full ending where Eno is calling down aliens with his oscillator and Manzanera has gone off into another dimention with his meatball pedal now that Ferry is done over-emoting as if he was performing for Shakespeare himself. Every element is so over the top! So f'n brilliant! THANKS FOR REPOSTING!!
Kudos to the bassist for being the only one staying in reality.
I wish I had those fly-eye glasses for Halloween.
zesty and a half, Boreeng Vajay.

Absolutely brilliant.Could not have said it better myself.Briliant music great visuals excellent stuff!!!!!!
Everything about this is utterly ridiculous, yet totally compelling and just so damn good!
Great observation... I can dig exactly what you’re saying.
You get it!
I like the way you describe it!
yep, thats an art..
Its Roxy Music doncha know +
Genre smashing, universe shredding, galactic super nova--the beginning of the end of the great big bang that started everything then took a brief pause to hang with and inspire Roxy Music before re-ordering the cosmos for the next big thing...still waiting for that one to unfold. Nothing was like this ever or will be ever again. Madness. Lighting in a bottle.
This is like music from an early 70’s sci-fi movie about the future. Like music from outer space.
Which I love.
Agreed this is space rock, definitely got a Space Ritual vibe.
Hawkwind by god!
@@AnneAndersonFoxiepaws Yeah, specially after Phil comes in with that heavy Rif, alien specs and Eno's imaginings, ace spacerock!
Anyone else old enough to remember 'Whispering' Bob Harris's sneery comments afterwards? Still smirking, Bob?
Oh no don't leave us hanging ... what did he say ? 😁
Fuck Bob Harris. He's a nice guy but fuck him non the less (sp?). Always put down anything with a hint of vitality.
Yes, he said 'If this is the future of rock, I want no part of it!'
He also dissed the New Your Dolls and later punk in general
Decades ahead of all. Got into them at around 14 and this kills after 46 years. Obviously influential on so many artists. Magical and odd are Roxy Music!
Just started listening to this band on Apple Music, I love it! Better late than never says me.
Absolutely sublime! Just so theatrical and totally over the top.... beautiful!!
..phil's goggles are priceless..👍😎
To hide his eyes they are all taking psychedelic drugs
I love the way I can hear echoes of Enos production of Slowdives "Souvlaki" (1993) in this
There’s only one Roxy Music … it’s as good now as it was when I was 12. I just didn’t realise how good my taste was till now
who?
Bryan Ferry the James Bond of musicians
This video is pristine at nearly fifty years old.
The aliens have landed and they're dripping in style and taste 48 years later this still sound futuristic
1972 was an year where a lot of great bands made up a new musical world: Crimson, Yes, Purple, ELP, Zeppelin, Genesis, Jethro Tull, etc. We shouldn't forget Roxy Music was one of those bands too!

At this stage they were one of the most innovative bands of all time.
The best song from one of my all time favourite LPs. People who only know late Roxy Music are in disbelief when confronted with the genius of this record.

Are you serious..about your age?
There's so much conviction and commitment in all this, it makes me emotional. Full respect.
Manzanera is an underrated guitar player. Definitely added some fire to the band.
There it is! The word I came looking for. Never disappointed.
And he has gone on to perform with David Gilmore who calls him El Magnifico
Amen to that! The power chord explosions at the end of this tune have greatly influenced my own approach to guitar and production.
He is shredding that thing to pieces lol
Undies!!
Fun fact. Bryan's eyelids weigh around 2kg.
They were so different from every other Rock Band especially in the U.S. My first exposure to them was through an excellent record shop in Seattle. The manager was a very cool guy, and he was getting in a bunch of records by English bands who were off the usual track of the usual Zeppelin and Rolling Stones, When The Roxy album Stranded came out in America, my fave shop did a window display including the album cover picture which was very racy , sexually suggestive.and I heard some of the tracks. I bought an import copy. I was a Roxy Music and Bryan Ferry enthusiast ever after.
This is my favorite tune by them. It's so crazy, yet so beautiful.
Crazy is the word. No question about that part....
I agree!!!
There are no music tv programs around like this anymore where bands play LIVE.. Roxy were great,Eno has never been given the credit he deserves.
Just so true. And no one like peel deciding who appears. The closest is the repeats of ogwt on bbc4 .,.. so sad ... Such a void ...
And featuring Eno as a pair of disembodied hands.
It's my favorite time. I only like Roxy Music albums with Brian Eno. For me it's the best. Thank you for this amazing video.
