Pyjamarama was the most played song on the jukebox in my local pub, followed by "Gonna make you a star" and "The Jean Genie" What a year and what happy days.
Pajamorama: - I remember listening to this track in the early ‘70’s, whilst waiting for my friend to ‘phone me back - he became my husband of 48 years. In those early days I called him my ‘ Cherub’ because he had dark curly hair and big blue eyes. He died this year - thanks for sharing this track & for the memories it has evoked- love, JaneR ❤
I followed my then new boyfriend, thru’ marriage, (2yrs later) and onward, 50 years to his death last year. love this track, especially Andy Mac’s sax. JR
You hear those dramatic, pounding opening chords? That's The Tragic Mood defined. This is the sound of a life coming apart. This is the spiral into personality as ineluctable Tragedy by feeling so intensely, by "feeling too much" according to the 'consensus.'
Just only knew the '73 fast version. Only song of theirs I like. Now I've come across this slower one and am blown away by the simplicity and staging of the performance.
Brian Eno had quit the band by then. He was replaced by Eddie Jobson who is outside the frame for almost the entire song. You can catch a short glimpse of him in the last second or two of this video, as the camera pans out. The keyboards can be heard all through the song, though.
Roxy Music should be a mandatory qualification before the youth of today is allowed to attend University - and also a re-test before being allowed to go on that "oh so hard-earned" gap year afterwards, just like all apprentices can afford to do (yeah, sure)!
Has anyone heard of Steve Lamour. probably the biggest Roxy fan ever? He has self published two publications on Roxy. He suffers from aspergers syndrome and his fixation on them is part of his autism. We both travelled up to see them perform in Wembley in 2001. It converted me to appreciate their music though I didn't like them as a teenager in the early 70s.
In Germany, city of Bremen. Produced and broadcast live in one of the former television studios (Studio 3) of Radio Bremen on Hans-Bredow-Street (Bremen-Osterholz). Also watch the excellent Live T.Rex there: ruclips.net/video/9SG65dlho_o/видео.htmlfeature=shared

Never thought about that, but see what you mean. One of my favourite Roxy tracks along with Ladytron and In Every Dream Home A Heartache and all Manifesto.
One of Roxy's forgotten classics
Love the chord sequence

I may have supped one in your local
@@mister3566 Well if your work took you into the Bull and Tiger in Borehamwood, no doubt you would have.
Love the picture from Kes by-the-way...
@Ian The Bastard A bit far from me but sounds like my kind of pub. Have a great weekend full of music.
@@mister3566 You too buddy.
yep
Possibly the greatest intro to a song of all time. This is music of the highest order..

What sentiment ❤
I followed my then new boyfriend, thru’ marriage, (2yrs later) and onward, 50 years to his death last year.
love this track, especially Andy Mac’s sax. JR
I discovered this song about 25 years ago..... I just kept playing the intro again and again at high volume !
Same as, the intro is so cool, visual & audio, actually better than the track itself.
50 years for me 😢
The most screen time a bassist has ever received.
Dang, listen to The Great Paul Thompson come in like Keith Moon at the opening. It’s always a treat to see Roxy live with him on the kit.
All the best guitarists play sitting down. Great performance from Phil.
Robert Fripp
He was getting over a broken leg apparently.
@@stephenbailes2750 Phil is as chilled as Bryan LMAO
One of my favorites 💞🎶
Epitomy of cool
What a great drummer Paul Thompson was...
Pyjamarama my favourite of the early Roxy Music should have been a number 1.
Great song, great performance.
Can't help but smile at Bryan's little dance in-between singing 😅
He dances like a swell
Fa musica anche ballando❗️👍
Elvis was still alive when they were doing this Jive! Oh, the musical links! All the Strand power! This band! Astonishing!

God, Europeans are so pretentious.
Greatest band ever with James Bond on vocals. They are too cool for the room.
Great comment 👍 😊
Great music 👍 Great band 👍 Great performance 👍 Super Roxy Music 👍 Viva Roxy Music 🌞
never heard this version, the tempo and space, I absolutely love it
Never tire of playing this song on my local now and I’m 66
Absolutely fantastic.
Best hit song of that era, it is also made special by the unique Ferry voice.
Great sax from Andy ♥️
What a song and performance. Gave me goosebumps.
Since long i've been a Roxy fan. This is the first time i've ever heard Pyamarama. You can kick me.
Great music Great Band👍🎸🔥💞🎵🎷
Years ahead of their time
Light years 😊
magical!
Probably my favourite Roxy song along with Virginia Plain........don't know why, but they did it from a Roxy perspective for me !
Just only knew the '73 fast version. Only song of theirs I like. Now I've come across this slower one and am blown away by the simplicity and staging of the performance.
Excellent song ❤
"So so semi-precious"...greatest line ever!!
I'm just rediscovering early RM... it is really full of depth... great stuff... timeless! ❤
Reminds me of happy times and a gentler way of life😢
Always liked this song -- I used to have a 45 of it. I titled my Roxy mix CD "Pyjama Drama".
Great band Great music totally cool
Probably my favourite tune from this lot. And not on any album.
There’s a fab live version on Viva Roxy Music
@@innuren-doh1636true I love it
@@innuren-doh1636Yes, the Viva version long ago ruined all other versions for me. That one is the one.
Coolest Guy on the planet , first heard this in 72 on a jukebox with my girlfriend later became my wife and still together
Glam ruled the charts. 💋
Great intro. Lou Reed’s Sweet Jane intro also great
Thanks for the memories guys , oh happy days

Bought the single at the time
Just perfect. 🤯
Great song. Great single. Bought it. Loved it. This version is substandard in comparison.
WELL nobody sayin who's singer is Bryan Ferry just the greatest of allll time an forerunner of roxy music...hats off to the king....
They said it all ⬇️
Andy Mckay sax & phil manzanera descollantes..gran band de mis favoritas for ever 🤟🤟
Love this performance !! Interesting no keyboards. This must have been a rehearsal possibly.
I don't see Brian Eno.

No it's not a rehearsal. Eddie Jobson is playing the keyboards.
Bryan Ferry the most debonair rock star. 🔥

Better than studio version
That’s usually the case. The live version from Viva even blows this one away.
Damn right it is, Sublimity blasting: that's contact with people, Etiology first & last.
This intro!!!!!
Ferry is one slick mother.

Eno Represented By n R2R Tape Drive😊
New Wave five years early.
Ferry laying an egg @ 0:56 during the intro.
How can instruments make that intro ??? 🤔🤷♂️😳👌👌👌👌
Bryan Ferry could've been the best James Bond ever
Or the best Bond villain lol which would be more fun
@calvinheinz4635 if Furry was the villain, he would have to die. Furry definitely had the style and charm and looks to be bond.
Très coooool 💖💖💖
Ferry as Bond🎉🎉❤That Has Been Mentioned in the Past😊
drummer like RINGO .

Bryan Ferry é puro contraste com as roupas hippie dos colegas de banda. Eterno dandi.
Who is playing bass?
Sal Maida
The bassplayer,i think..🙄🤨😏😁
The bass player I think is John Porter 👍 I am not quite sure!
Definitely Sal Maida.
Bill Mac Cormick
All things considered and shear talent, the only other groups I would put at this level are the Beatles and Led Zeppelin.
873 Hermann Pine
41984 Jones Motorway
The only time new member Eddie Jobson is seen is in the last two seconds.
Sounds like the sweeney to me.
