I always loved the idea that that band had an excellent oboe player - Andy. Love the sound in this kind of alternatively rock band. It really puts a different accent on things.
To just reiterate what the others are saying here, Roxy Music's Live at Apollo DVD is phenominal. I saw them in Paris this past summer(2010), and they still got it.
Some ppl have criticised the Roxy live 2001 shows, but I think they are incredible & better than any band of that era. Led Zepps come back tour was poor (& i'm a Zepp fan, saw them 74) Roxy as a band have always been incredible live. If your new to Roxy, then check out their "Musikladen" German live performances, when they were at their peak, they are mind blowing.
Amazing rendition of this song! You may also want to check out Bryan Ferry's Bete Noir Tour DVD, which includes Ladytron with his band. Highly recommended.
I saw the "Bete Noire" tour at Great Woods outside of Boston. One of THE best concerts I have ever been to. I still remember the complete and utter silence during Ferry's rendition of "Jealous Guy".
For instance: at 3:18 we have the shaker(?), 3:28, the Eno imatator, and 3:30, the tamborine girl wearing sunglasses. Oh My. I bet all three are even "miked." Now go listen to the Ladyton on the 1972 Whistle Test appearance.
manzanera is one of the most underrated guitarists ever. it's criminal.
I agree. He and Charlie Burchill of Simple Minds
Phil Manzanera on guitar - really is 'up there' with the best players

Like John Helliwell with Supertramp (-:
Damn! One of a kind. Loved them back in the 70's and still do
Wow. Phil! Wow!
MANZANERA = MONSTER... Amazing performance...
Not listened to Roxy Music for quite sometime, I've been missing out........

not too many bands that toured in the 70's are able to play as good as they did back then.. but roxy is still cool

Absolutely fantastic British sound! Have loved Roxy from '72 when I was only 11.
This music gives me goosebumps
One of my fav songs by this underrated band. Way to shred the guitar!
Maybe my favorite of many
By this on the DVD Roxy music live at apollo, Its the best buy you can ever make
Thundering drums brought to you by The Great Paul Thompson.
yup, he is unstoppable
Roxy were always considered an art rock band but this is very close to Prog, very self indulgent... and I love it!
J. J’adore 😃Phil👏👏
Fanbloodytastic!
greatest band ever by a mile
Can't argue with that statement pal. Loved these guys for years and still play all their albums regularly.
John Gilbert dc
If you added every claimed "greatest band ever" on the internet, it'd be a list of thousands.
❤ Love this !
🎸🎶 Chapeau 🫶🎩🔥 Phenominal ! @bryanferry 💗
Terrific!
TGPT completely wears me out just watching him. What stamina and power! Phil is totally ace - as is everyone.
I don't know who tgpt is.
The Piglet?
Great Manzanera
best music DVD ever
I love bryan ferry.
Absolutely amazing!!
The other name of cult and perfect tune. End of story. 👌👍👏❤️

+9988ScooterGirl indeed! A great, elegant performer...
Wow... that was amazing...
ROXY MUSICAL GODS
Great Phil Manzanera!
Every single band need a rock and roll oboeist.
❤❤
TGPT is a locomotive in human form.
Bryan Ferry seems ageless!
Good version. The best one from Bryan Ferry's Bete Noire 80's tour. The blonde guy with the big hair does an amazing solo.
My only love: Roxi Music!!!
i love this song and i love velvet goldmine's version too :D
this is better than the version done on the old grey whistle test
It sounds like exactly the same backing track
When the gods flight high
Oboe FTW.

The Whistle Test was an awesome showing. This one was excellent as well
@@RayNDeere: the thumbs up is for the Whistle Test, not this shameful exploitation of a great talent.
Who is the cure blonde ❤
Phil :)
Klarinette ...
Is Phil Manzanera really playing those leads live?
Fukkin fabulous
@percypiggle6 Ask him to check out Roxyrama on youtube then. Hopefully he'll approve.
Does Bryan Ferry always have to be surrounded by hot chicks?
Zach Johnson Translation: I wish I was surrounded by hot chicks.
He can't prevent being surrounded by hot chicks... they are attracted to him by the hundreds...
they were musicians you mope
@Pantoffelheld And now she's with Rupert Murdoch. Excruciating.
@@BenjWarrant: I heard that as well. Proves what was rumored about her 40 years ago.
@percypiggle6 You should be proud.
andy mackay is my dad
percy mackay really?
@percypiggle6 if would be great if you could Fan them on Facebook.
Sounds to much like "Casanova" sorry still a huge fan 😅😅
Ferry's voice is not one that will change much with age is it? like Bowies , Elton's Macca's etc...all getting deeper and more croaky...
@** is it?
@owhawell he's seen, he thinks they're good
