About David Bowie:
David Bowie redefined musical genres and the potential of live performance for generations of music lovers. Creating and discarding a variety of personae and restlessly challenging musical boundaries, Bowie released timeless albums including Space Oddity, Hunky Dory, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust…, Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dogs, Young Americans, Station to Station, "Heroes,” Let's Dance, Heathen, The Next Day and many more. Blackstar, Bowie’s 28th and final studio album, was released on his 69th birthday, January 8, 2016. David Bowie died on January 10, 2016, two days after the release of Blackstar. His body of work, his influence on the worlds of music, art, fashion, film, theatre and beyond, and his legacy of innovation and reinvention will live forever. 2022 kicks off with Bowie at 75, a celebration of his 75th birthday with the Brilliant Adventure box set, the previously unreleased Toy, the 50th anniversary of Ziggy Stardust and a series of special events.

I will never forget the moment when I shook hands with Bowie, we talked a bit and I got his autograph ( life complete 🥂 )...this was in 2002
Lucky you are friend
I wasn’t even alive. How time flies.
Totally agree ... Absolutely ... and then I try to cover a few songs as Space Boy . on YT ... hahahaha .... what a laugh.
lucky
m'jaw dropd.
One thing I think Bowie hasn't gotten enough recognition for was his ability to write really excellent sci-fi. It just happened to be done 5 minute pop song form.
Drive-In Saturday comes to mind too.
Yes, but--for this song--he lifted some of it from The Coming Race by Edward Bulwer-Lytton.
Still wonderful though.
He was an 👽
But he did The man who fell too earth 🌍
@@SAHB him and Tilda . . . she remains to remind us of their world! hahah
Love his sheer confidence and pleasure in singing this, quite a tricky song lyrically but his diction is spot on, fabulous twinkle in his eyes, a true genius
There’s something so magical about this performance and David Bowie in general
OMG How much was I in love with David Bowie’s music in the 1970s, this takes me back to being 17, working in a record store. Best job ever! Miss you David, I have all your albums…even Mott the Hoople and listen still in 2024 ❤️ RIP you dear beloved star ✨🌟⭐️💫
David’s music and lyrics are timeless. This has always been one of my absolute favourites. Thank you posting. We miss him terribly. Looking back, we had a genius in our midst, a man who brought joy to everyone’s life.
He had a way of making the most important moments of our lives into songs
J’ai toujours aimer David bowie je l écoute depuis l âge de 18 ans j en n ai 60 aujourd hui

Never really I'm just a puselled Man how you pretty thing and to this day I'm still pretty puzzled ???
He was the best, the pioneer of all of us.
Dave
The best.
David & Mick. RIP both
In 2023 he still looks from the future.
He is.
More like from another plane. Maybe he just went home…
In 2024 he still looks from the future and will in 2025, 2026....
I'm so fortunate to have grown up during this period and for being exposed to this wonderful talent. I feel badly for the kids today. The Spiders in the background looked absolutely marvelous, mutton chops and all...
Just beautiful RIP David Bowie …. RIP the wonderful Mick Ronson on the gibbo les Paul lead guitar 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤
There's nothing anyone can write or say that will ever describe the sheer brilliance of this man. He's beyond sublime.
As Nabokov would write, this song burns tiger-bright. SO artful, so soulful, so masterful. David Bowie was the true artist.
I suspect Nabokov was back referencing William Blake's The Tyger. Cant recommend it enough.
Now that's the way to start a day! RIP Bowie, I'll never forget all the amazing concerts.
yup, i'm 61 and i listen to Jack White - i'm still searching for someone that is as remotely interesting as David Bowie - And , yes, this cheered me and made me lonely at the same time

Listen to heroes in German it's brilliant 👏
@@citymad2mancitymad644 oh, i will look for that !
Apparently this song is about his poor brothers schizophrenia 😢he kept seeing a hand from the sky trying to take him away, Bowie was a true genius ❤
Bowie was the godfather and patron saint of all the weirdos, punks queers misfits outsiders and rebels. All the people who didn’t fit in anywhere else. And he did it with such style.
🎼❣️🎶
Is it possible he is showing his respects to the The Pretty Things? He certainly knew them, and apparently was a fan-boy in the early sixties.
They will be listening to this man in 2200 and beyond ...classic
Gosh that little smile before the 2nd chorus 💗💗💗
I just saw that! Melted me
Bowie is a genius!!!❤️❤️❤️
Bowie is a genius ❤️❤️❤️
With his original teeth - always liked them better.
I saw it too ❤❤❤❤❤
Gave all the David Bowie albums a listen and it’s crazy how creative and unique he was. Will be forever grateful for the art he’s left behind.
Same here, recently as a hardcore lifelong music fan. The variety and difference between the albums David Bowie/Space Oddity, to TMWST, to then the album this is on Hunky Dory and then Ziggy is incredible. Not to mention plenty more to come
I listen to David every single day! ❤
What's your favourite? Hunky Dory has some bangers, Scary Monsters does too, and the first 3 tracks of Let's Dance are absolute classics!
relatively few musicians would re-invent themselves over their lifetime to take things to new heights - Bowie was one, Beethoven another...
Yeah - it's a stunning rendition of a song that's so beautiful What a talented man he was, and a real icon.
'The Old Grey Whistle Test' was the best music programme ever. Especially the early series like this. So many brilliant artists performed raw and live on that iconic show. Bob Harris was marvellous 🌟 I loved the intro with that great harmonica as a kid.
Whispering Bob - brilliant - the opening harp was 'Stone Fox Chase' by Area Code 615
Reminds me of the peal session's so many new bands ow a lot. Cheers
I agree there's nothing like it these days. Music just isn't the same anymore - BY DESIGN!!

If you love someone you refer to them endearingly by their first name.
Ace ... So true .... I tried a few covers on YT and realised its not easy.
This guy was just not normal. What a song!! He is probably still in his 20's here, barely out of school but can write and play and sing like this! I'm telling you, he is just not normal and thank the heavens for that!
Born in 47 so 25 years old and already promoting his 5th album. His debut single, “Liza Jane,” as Davie Jones and the King Bees was released in 1964 when he was just 17 years old.
A unique, gifted genius! How lucky we are to have lived during his time on earth!
I love his smile and the twinkle in his eyes.
Bowie is just so amazing. I wish I could of seen at least one of his live shows. He's timeless
me too oh god me too
Ace ... So true .... I tried a few covers on YT and realised its not easy.
I was lucky to see him twice...a master.
I saw one w: w/ NIN in ATL.
Saw him live at Wembley arena
His Voice sounds so crisp here ❤
This guy was tapped in to a bloody powerful source. I absolutely love David Bowie. I need to thank 3 things for getting me into Bowie. First is the BBC cop show woth hilarious premise, Life on Mars. Second, Kurt Cobain for covering 'The Man who Sold the World' in spectacular, iconic fashion. Most of all have to thank my Dad, for always singing along and telling me how cool Bowie is. I remember being very young and hearing Heroes for the first time and crying in his arms. So yeah, thanks BBC, Kurt, Dad and David.
I'm almost as old as this song, which absolutely blows my mind! 50 years ago, this was the Golden sound that my folks were vibing to, and ppl still love it-how cool!!⚡🖤
@Heather in Kansas me too ! I am 65 yrs old and
I Still love this ❤️
I'm just a bit older, and pure goose bumps!
They're going to be for some time to come. He stood in a spot almost impossible to find - it's got obvious appeal, but it's not so tied to that particular era in that it got swept away with everything else that it coincided with. The insane fashions helped put it into that rare place - neither the music and definitely not the image alone would have had the impact, but a crazy and beautiful genius? That's the stuff of immortality, especially since by the time he eased up on image he had gone past mastering the craft and began to experiment. It all just kept compounding on itself over and over, era after era.
I'm only a bit more than half your guys' age, but I agree 100% that this man was absolutely extraordinary.
66 years old here. This album was a big part of my life when it came out
He’s in my head when I awake. Miss you Mr Bowie 💔
I miss him too,, he was one of a kind ❤!!!

'Bowie's Love Child' .... You Tube ....
Chutch genuine talent brings tears to my eyes, such amazing pressants.
TBH what is often forgotten is just how many instruments he could and did play. What a talent RIP DB
AN ARTIST NEVER WILL BE FORGOTTEN BY THIS WORLD. I also got to meet him in NYC when I was living there.( A gentleman.) HIS MUSIC WILL LIVE ON FOR GENERATIONS TO COME. RIP 🙏 SENDING NAOMI AND FAMILY MUCH LOVE ❤️
One of my favorite songs from "Hunky Dory", along with "Changes" & "Life On Mars".
This amazing being will bring us joy long beyond his time on Terra.
It's nice to see him up close, enjoying himself.
Bowie is amazing and Mick Ronson is one of the very best as well. Miss them both.
One of my favorites.
Genius mind right here and a terrible loss for the entire world. RIP David. ❤🙏🏻
No one could impart a wry smile like Bowie
One of the greatest artists of his generation (of any genre)...full stop.
Look at this session and you'll understand why so many people including me love David so much. He played a lot of music instruments very well, he wrote a lyrics ain't nobody. His head was always full of great ideas. People who worked with him at record studio on a new album said that he was working at studio ain't nobody. He was perfect there. Thanks so much for sharing this beauty with us.
Yep, listen to his piano playing here, it's live but it sounds note for note like the album and even has the same exact tone as on the album. And he manages it while singing and mugging for the cameras too.
The music here is not actually live, a lot of Bowie’s early live performances music was prerecorded except for the vocals
@@keepinmahprivacy9754 He's miming the piano bit.
Fortunately, I haven’t heard every Bowie song or seen every Bowie performance, because it allows that chance for me to stumble upon something like this and feel astounded by him again.
Every period of his work has some gems, but late 60’s/early 70’s Bowie is simply untouchable by any artist around. His word craft, his melodies and the dynamics are truly out of this world. This performance was incredible.
A simple video yet it's so impactful because of the lyrics, music and David's beautiful vocals. That little smile at the end always makes me smile too. Love you David. Miss you every day. ❤️
How talented they were! Not just Bowie but the rest of his group.
I simply cannot come up with enough beautiful words to describe what I think of this artist. I mean really...you know the old saying "they broke the mold " GEEEEEEEEEZ. Peace & Love RIP David.
Beginnings, endings and everything in between. The cycle of our beloved David Bowie
His song writing was so refreshing, even now...
This is SUCH a good song.
It’s almost incomprehensible that something as good and pure and perfect as this could exist.
I love him and admire him, for me he is the best artist who ever lived, my inspiration and the one who saved me. I cried his dead and I really miss him.
i just read a biography about david called Starman, written in 2011. david was such a genius with so much talent, so much hubris and so much style. and the thing i loved about him is he had a knack for bringing out the best in all the musicians who worked with him. he was so inspirational. and when as soon as he put out an album, he started in on the next one. and he didn't give a shit if the album he put out sold well or not. he would just move onto the next phase and he was constantly reinventing himself.
Music was so good in the 70’s.
Just mind blowing that 50 years ago, this 12 y/o was awakening to the sights & sounds of Bowie so much that he inspired me in Art & Photography. I even painted a 24x36 acrylic of just him from the neck up from his Diamond Dogs LP in an Art class in high class in 1977. And still to this to this day, that painting is on my office wall. His music touches my heart like no other. Thank you for this new upload. It means a lot to me today. At almost age 62, my life is in a renewal just like he did. Only I hope I have more time to cherish it with the new love I have in my life that treats me right. Thank you Bowie for all of it!!!
brilliant bowie,we will be playing his music well into the future, todays music will be lost in the future ,its so good, like most of the 60,70,80s music,it will live forever, rip david
The world still seems diminished without this brilliant artist in it. What a great recording this is!
I don’t think he realized what a genius and what an impact he had on SO many generations.
(X-here. Wish I would have discovered him sooner)
Every show I went to in 2017 had a tribute to him and we all were so moved.
This is one of my top 3.
not at that time, but I believe he was very concious of his impact later on.
I ‘discovered’ him in 1974, and am STILL LISTENING! Til my death do I part 😎. I just couldn’t imagine my grandma listening to David Bowie and I am, well, grandmaish in age 😹. RiIP David Bowie ♥️
Totally agree ... Absolutely ... and then I try to cover a few songs as Space Boy . on YT ... hahahaha .... what a laugh.

You and I have great taste in music! 😊
I love this song too much 💕
Simply outstanding. And live too. What a legend.
what a fabulous recording. Glad we have it. I'm still living this song. "All the nightmares came today, and it looks as though they're here to stay.."
You might like a band called The Doublejumps if you like David Bowie
So young and talent

Love this so much! We miss you Bowie.
1:21 Amazing beatles sound, perfect
I didn’t hear it until you said it. Now i can hear it. Cheers 😊
That little smile. Just melts my heart.
I love these old clips of Bowie. I grew up in this era & David's career just got bigger. Some of his best work was the earlier years like this pretty gem 💎💫.
It's incredible that you can restore 50 year old footage like that. I wish we'd get stuff like the the 1999 Astoria concert, the 2002 Berlin concert or the Live by Request performance in HD on DVD. Those are just such a joy to watch, he was so happy. There's so much good stuff out there, wish someone would put it out.
I went dancing allot but not to clubs so much but when I did go there were just fantastic performances and now I'm aghast that they were not recorded - and also in the 70's 80's 90's much video tape was taped over ! We have to thank those people who did capture and preserve it and yes nice to see him happy - he get's happy again later by the 80's - he was naturally nice and friendly I think
David bowie is just unbelievable. Master at work 🙌 🤘 🇬🇧
Beautiful performance. Miss you Bowie! The world was better with you around
We lost an incredible mind when he died.
Moment of silence for the man who fell to earth.
Written in pain, written in awe
By a puzzled man who questioned
What we were here for
All the strangers came today
And it looks as though they're here to stay
I remember watching this on the OGWT. As a 16 year old growing up in the Rhondda valleys this was pretty out there! Genius!!!!
David Bowie my love ⚡💚
Totally agree ... Absolutely ... and then I try to cover a few songs as Space Boy . on YT ... hahahaha .... what a laugh.
He looks so cute in this video
Remember buying hunky dory album❤
Mr Bowie was way before my time so I'm just discovering his brilliance now... I can see what all the fuss is about! He was so uniquely brilliant! ❤
This was really only months before Bowie hit Top of the Pops with Starman, an appearance that would launch him to superstardom.
A complete reinvention in just a few months. That was Bowie.
An incredible artist who was taken way to soon! A true legend and icon.
Happy Birthday Wonderful Man 🖤💙🖤
Helped me through every stage of life since I was 10 and still doing it now.
Cried my eyes out when he passed. So strange given I'd only ever seen him on stage (lucky me). Still missing him. Great job on the HD conversion! - Thank You!
This was my first Bowie somg 💜 Love him to death.
Mention for the rest of the Spiders!
What a great band..just Bowie, Trevor, Mick and Woody. Perfect.
Que magnetismo tenía este hombre 🥺 nadie más como él...
this song makes me well-up every time!
David Bowie remains timeless and I was lucky enough to see him twice at the iconic MSG /once in the early 80s and then for his ‘50th Birthday Party’ in the late 90s with a phenomenal roster of ‘special’ guests who sang or played along with him on individual songs. RIP to this icon whom I STILL miss. That Version of Heroes at the end of JoJo Rabbit was a thing of beauty and stroke of Genius. Same exact music but sung in German. No doubt most of us heard the story of how the version in English I know and love was written
Marvellous, simply marvellous.
I can play this on the piano, not as well as this beautiful creature.
First song I taught myself as a kid 😊

Just amazing - such a complex structure yet so appealing - the chorus is fab!! how many chord changes..modulations haha wow 😅
Bring back the original ones! The hd remasters doesnt look right😭😭😭
Fantastic
So good! Miss you David.
Bowie simply was the coolest man that ever lived. Yeah, he wasn't a war hero, he didn't work miracles, he never changed societal woes for better.....but he was just about as cool a cat as we will ever see.
