I have a 12 sprinter 3500 in a prism camper. I recently had the recall for the DEF system done. While on vacation started van up and the check engine came, after driving for a shor while, I got the DEF countdown. To say the least, could not find anyone to work on it in Branson Mo. Little rock Ak, Memphis Tenn. We drove it back to south Fl. without turning off 2 days. Dealer has again, said it could be under warranty, but it would cost $400.00 diagnostic fee. We will see
Same problems with the Ford Transits. Had a fleet at my last company trans coolers popped in first 10k on multiple vans. They were in the shop over a month waiting for parts.
Been having same problem with my Mercedes Sprinter Van .... 2017 right from the get go at 6000 miles EGR Valve went bad n they changed in Paramus NJ ..then CHECK engine light due to Nox sensor was next n that they don't have it they just cleared the codes... now DEF system warning came on after leaking in the floor. Very frustrating had very bad responses every time I been to a few dealers Nanuet NY and Wappingers Falls NY the worst of them.
My sprinter is a 2017 build I have had the same issues. Every time the oil is changed it has to have a new oil level sensor!! I’m on my 6th at 38k miles! I have had the EGR sensors go too and it’s now got the light on again after being in Mercedes shop and there’s an intermittent fault putting it into limp mode. It doesn’t help here in Wales UK they have imposed a 20mph speed limit in built up areas and all the diesel vehicles are getting blocked DPF filters now! Stupid politicians won’t listen to a half million people who signed a petition against this change in speed limits. I have to say I don’t rate Mercedes at all now!
my daughter has a 2023 sprinter 2500 2.0L diesel and wanted to ask you if you have any words of wisdom concerning driving habits that you have incorporated to better help in reducing the DPF from getting high in particulate accumulation?
There’s nothing you can do. The more you drive on the highway the less it accumulates. The more local driving the faster it accumulates. That’s my only observation. One you hit 100% dpf drive until it goes to 0%.
My 22 is doing the same thing. I drop my van off for 9 days the changed the dpf heat sensor I get 4 miles away and the check engine light comes on. I only live two hours away from the dealer. I have a 06 sprinter I think I should just be driving that one.
Probably too much slow town driving???? My 2016 RV is fine until I do slow country road period and then it pops a blocked DPF code and doesn’t want to self re-gen. My code reader does not allow a forced re-gen so what do I do. The answer is to buy another MB code reader with. More service options on it that allows regents.
I asked the MB tech about this and he said it shouldn’t matter. I’m assuming I’m going to have another issue in the spring. lol. It’s been almost a year with no issue so I’m due for one!
I have a 2021 Sprinter 2500 and I feel your pain. I purchased a scan tool when I got the light. The code was for the EGR valve which I would love to, well ya know. Took it into Mercedez and they informed me that I did not fill up the DEF and said nothing about the EGR valve. Last time I went into see them. I do my own repairs now.
Thank you for the video I got a 2016 sprinter 4 months ago with 52,000 miles on it and I just had to replace the temperature exhaust sensor it was just under $200 and it was about 5 to 10 minutes of work, but I have 3 hours of watching youtube just figuring out the problem.
Service A isn’t the same everywhere. I have a 21 3500 HR and the Service A in the 757 is trans flush w/ filter, oil change w/ filter, DEF top off, windshield wipers, air and cabin filter and check air pressure for $2051. Trans svc alone is $650/ oil change is >$275 and alignment is $199.
Just threw a code P0472 which is generic yet it boils down to DPF differential pressure sensor. Just ordered by Bosch >$40 and after my research it’s said to fix the high RMP when shifting from lower gears i.e. 1-3 (automatic). I have a V-6 3.0 diesel
I have not. Every problem with the Van is in the Sprintet playlist on my YT channel. I love the van but hate the emissions for sure. Usually one issue a year, but the van is warrantied for another 2 years, so I’ll deal with it.
Lucky for you a brand new video drops today on my 6th time to the dealer for DPF issues. 😂. It’s a short one and you will hear all you need to know. It’s really so annoying.
When it's near 100%, drive at 3000-3200rpm to heat the DPF and it will start a regen much faster once it's at 100%. My work van dropped quite quickly after it started. But it should even regen if it's sitting at idle after driving and never turn the car off once it has started. Or keep it at 2000-2500rpm at idle.
I’m pretty sure that if you have more than 4 issues with your brand new vehicle and the dealer cannot seem to remedy the problem, you can go to the city and file it under “Lemon Law”. They will contact the dealer and under that law the manufacturer will need to get you another vehicle (if they can’t remedy the problem). Look it up, please, and find your nearest office or maybe it’s available online
Unfortunately if it’s a different issue each time and it’s fixed within a reasonable time, lemon law does not apply. I did inquire about this and since each DPF issue had to do with a different sensor or hose or whatever, it did not apply.
Check your contract with them saying after 3 times you bring them your car with problems you allow to change your car they change it for a other i did it once so good luck Check your contract
Mercedes-benz of Chantilly the problem with them is that they don't fix the vans they have a different place where they fix the sprinters I did have some difficulty with them
@@TodayIWorkOn i have the same van. 2021 with 16,500 plus miles. And now happen the 124% def issue. The dealer change the injectors but stills problems
I have a 2017 2500 V6 bought new, less the 42,000 miles. I already had the AC Unit in the rear leak, resonator turbo leak and just couple of days ago ADBlue line leak crystallization occurred. Had to pay 1200.00 for that repair. I used to have extended warranty, and most of the time they would say it’s not covered. Oh! Yeah, I forgot also had the passengers side seat belt not retracting. Mercedes : "The best or nothing". So Mercedes told us upfront that their vehicles are hit or miss. Unfortunally your van was from their "nothing" batch.
u gotta drive it more bro…. Diesels need to drive bro…. Lots of idling and driving clears out the dpf build up…. Super heat is the secret to Diesel efficiency
This is a myth that is debunked by what has failed with all of these issues. I even asked the tech about it. I’ve asked multiple friends in the industry about it. This is completely false. Also, the “drive it more” theory. I live in a hilly suburban/rural setting with no stop and go traffic and every drive is at least 20 mins. Not to mention I tow 5000 pounds with it at least 2-3 times a year for 6-10 hours at a time. That’s super heat, wouldn’t you say. The van had components fail and that’s the story. There’s no more to it. 😂.
I have a 2018 previous model sprinter. It’s the most unreliable vehicle I have owned after a Land Rover Discovery. It’s going into limp mode again at the moment after having been in the dealers to have the electric side step coded out because it stopped working after hitting speed bumps and pot holes too many times. I’m sick of this!! I have spent a lot of money converting this van to a camper after buying the van new. But I’m done!! I can’t take anymore of the constant bills to run it and fix the failed sensors and other issues. Mercedes have lost me as a customer just like Land Rover did.
We've got 5 brand new vans from benz, all have less than 1,000 miles have the same problem with ours that you are going through. Biggest piece of shit ever

Why is the repair not covered by Mercedes Benz's 5 years, 100000 miles power train warranty?
The repair was covered by warranty. The maintenance A was not.

They have dedicated techs that work on the vans but they are too big to fit in the car/suv shop so they get sent to another building. Correct.
Might want to see if this would qualify under the lemon laws?
It does not since each issue is not the same and the van is not down for extended periods of time. I looked into it.
