How Much Does it Cost To Install a Superior Wall Foundation System?
Love your fully redundant technique. Just two words I would add. Cast Iron. Give me a cast iron tub every time, all the time. Cast Iron tubs offer unparalleled durability and dependability. Yes Cast Iron is more expensive but the best things are worth the extra price. I've had 2 cast iron tubs installed without major issues.
They used the wrong fitting and also didn’t clearly mark the full insertion depth of the fitting. The fitting they used is marketed for gas/oil and has a different ring, not only that, they were pulled off the market by Viega in 2019. Your client got ripped off.
Great video, I learned from your last video how to install the Tile Redi base. I did it exactly how you did, the plastic, few inches of mortar (the correct type), level and dont touch it for 2 days after. I seen so many videos that were done incorrectly. If they just read the instructions they'll see the way you said to do it was correct. I have never, before last year even put up a picture Frame and took on a full bathroom remodel using your videos as reference. I appreciate you and your videos, love the content, keep em coming!
Thank you for the kind words.
I used a Tile Redi base pan for my DIY install after watching one of your older videos. No issues after 3 years. Schluter Kerdi seems to be popular now and expensive.
Schluter has been around for a little bit but the fail rate is so so high for DIY’ers and even pros. Sometimes a Schluter drain will delaminate from the all set and leak. Sometimes it happens in the corners and Schluter will just shrug and say, sorry. I never wanted my clients to worry about a leak and the tile redi system was my answer for them. It’s not a cheap product, BUT it’s way cheaper than ripping out your 2-5 year old shower from a leak.
I used a Tile Redi base in my downstairs custom bathroom 8 years ago. Very happy with the product.
It’s a very safe option for a shower floor for sure.
Really appreciate your highlighting of Doorwin and the process and the particulars! I’m talking w a rep of theirs now. Did you get installation drawings? How did your subs end up installing the 72x96, with fins or is it attached in the jamb directly through the frame?
Standard style door jamb. No fins. I have a video on how I install the door in my Doorwin playlist.
Are the larger black panels over the holding tank and the freshwater tank screwed in? It looks like they might be removable if you need more access than the hatches provide. We have a 2004 370 Express and it’s nice to see your videos and the guts of the boat.
Yes. Two owners ago they replaced the holding tank and lines. I do believe the black plywood is original to the boat and it’s how you access your holding and fresh water tanks. It’s a great boat, we just wish we had one more bathroom with 3 kids!
Same thing happened to me 3 times! DPF filter clogged with soot! Can t let diesel engines idle, especially in cold weather. Tip: Get a scanner and erase the visible codes then drive 55 mph on a highway with 2,000 rpm for about 50 miles ( 25 miles to and from) and your your vehicke should regen and clean out the soot. Repeat if necessary.Rislone sells a DPF cleaner (green label) that you can add just before your 50 mile regen trip. Again, DON'T LET YOUR VEHICLE IDLE, or the filter will clog up again!
I agree. I actually caught it last week. It’s been super cold and I didn’t go into regen at 100%. I got up to 108% and was hammering on it. I got a code and went into limp mode. I shut off the van and restart it and it wasn’t in limp mode. For the first time dpf started to clear! I went home, took my code reader and cleared the code. This is great advice. lol. I wish I didn’t have to worry so much about this dpf!
My Dock Pro (which I LOVE when it works) just broke for the 3rd time in 2 years. Considering the 8sleep Pod 4, but $$$. What are your current thoughts, one year in?
We sprung a leak in the summer and they sent us a new pad. I have not installed it because we are moving soon to our new house and I don’t want to take it off worrying it will break or puncture. I will do an update on the 8 sleep in a month or two. I will say I like the 8 sleep better than the dock pro by a lot.
Gotta say, these videos have been super helpful for me. I have even reached out on a few occasions for more information. They have always returned my emails. Keep up the great work and congrats on the beautiful house. You deserve it
Thank you for the kind words!
I used 5 propress fittings on a repair in my home and cleaned the pipes and the fittings and marked the pipe for insertion like I was using shark bite fittings and deburred the pipe as well. After turning on the water, two of the press fittings started leaking and I took the manual press tool that I initially used and pressed it some more. It stopped leaking and kept an eye on it and 4 days later it still held with no leaks.
You can obviously see the copper was not cleaned properly
so you mortar the whole floor after the wire and let it dry? then come back and tile on top of that mortar?
I do. I mention why in the video. Less thinset when I lay the tile down and I can roll on the floor easier with my rac a attack. Plus, it protects the wire in my head. I’m literally about to do it again in my new construction. ☺️
Great Vid thanks! I have the same interior lenses that you have in your house. However I've damaged a couple taking them out .They crack easy. I looked online and they're between 80 and 100 bucks just for the plastic 10" lenses! Any tips where to get them cheaper?? Thanks!
Gotta bite the bullet on some things. This is one of them. Lol. Unless you custom make it, but I bet it will not be worth the time.
How I can get contact with titi for my order ! Thank you in advance
I know she will be at the IBS show. I can pass her info on to you if you email me.
Not sure if tile to tile requires a threshold
These may be vulnerable to twisting. A video showed someone repositioning a propress elbow using the pipe for leverage and he mentioned that you must re-press the fitting after this occurs.
Hi, where are you located?
Mother Earth.
Just finishing up the plans on our addition. I’ve been talking to Doorwin since my dad built His house and uses their windows. He loves them. You got the videos on the screens.
Not yet. It’s the dead of winter here and I will be installing them in the spring.
@ thanks. My father says they are better than the ones his clients normally use. He’s now got tow jobs lined up and they are using doorwin.
Can anyone direct me to any website that will say that the pro press fitting with the yellow dot is for gas lines?
Thanks! This video helped me out lots, I have the same fan.
I’m glad! Thanks for the kind words.
Supposed to be quiet? Mine was a bitch to put in and it’s not quiet !! Thanks for the installation video 😎
It’s quiet if there’s no restricted flow which creates back pressure and can be noisy. The actual fan motor is pretty quiet, but resistance is always noisy if you have that.
Any chance at all your still hiring? Really interested in learning from you
I turn the heat down before putting the meat in to give it a chance to cook.
It’s happening because these fittings are a POS. It’s just laziness on the plumbers part. When it leaks again after 1 to 8 months out of warranty then and they charge you more money when it should have lasted for 60 more years or even the life of the copper. All these quick fix easy fixes is just as scam !!!!!!!!
All this euro 6 emissions is a load of bollocks that is what’s causing all the problems on vans the DPF it is load of crap China put more emissions out than anyone else in the world they’re not stopping so why should we what the hell does it matter if we have a DPF on our vehicle or not
Do you think that boat could get 1mpg at slower speeds?
going 7 knots in a troll, yes.
Just want to say thanks for this video. Helped me alot with a smooth replacement on my 2016 2500HD. Rides so much better with these 5100’s. The ranchos were completely shot. Should have done it 5yrs ago! Haha
oh come on, you don't need 1h of flamethrower time to light a simple fireplace, this is what happens when you skip boy's scout LOL
EPA and the company that makes this fireplace says otherwise. I wish people read the directions. This is not a pre epa insert, it’s the epa designed one. You heat it up too quickly and it can be damaged. I can heat it up in less than 5 mins, but I like my things.
I think the tile job looks great around the niche! I do not know if you would have had a little skinny piece of tile above or below, but I think it looks nice as it is! We have well water here with a lot of salt in it. Will that tile trim rust? I know it rusts other metals around here!
If you have water that rusts metal, 100% go with plastic jolly. Don’t take a chance.
While no where near as good as the original Frank Pepe's in New Haven, it's pretty good.
If you like grease, cheese with no taste, and a crust left to be desired. I don’t even want to get into the sauce. It’s been a while since I did this review and I can still taste the oil sitting in my stomach.
@@TodayIWorkOn...that wasn't my experience...
I don't think I've ever heard of cheater board ever being called nor used as actual blocking, I guess it's better than anchors. Although honestly with the finishing your already doing you should have just ran real blocking, worth more as well
Unless you’re doing pull-ups, I’ve never installed blocking for my towel bars. The magic of silicone can hold a few towels and maybe a few more with no issue. Just because you never saw it does not mean it will not work. 😉
Its leaking because YOU did not solder it! Solder it and BE DONE !!!!!!!!!
Yea, I didn’t do the repair, I found it that way. 😂. I don’t even own a pro press.
Subscribed! Just ordered these windows! Do you think a regular piggyback moffet can unload these? Is there specific lift you recommend to install a 700lb section (3 windows built as one unit)?
I broke down my triple and double windows so I wouldn't have to figure that out. A lot of people are using tele handlers or making makeshift cranes with pulleys and stuff. These windows are so heavy you are not going to believe it when you first touch them. Good luck with the install!
Thanks for the video! I’m impressed you know more about the product than the company that invented, refined, and warranty it! I say the same thing about oil change intervals on my truck, 3,000 miles?? Really? How about 20,000!
I just read tileredi instructions and install the material according to those directions and talking with the chief engineer. I’m confused. 😂. Thanks for the kind words!
I just signed off on my shop drawings, I’m so excited. Agree with all of this. I had to go back and forth in email for about a month checking everything and double checking it to make corrections and updates. I only ordered windows and all same style, different sizes, which probably made it a little easier for me. I think it would be super helpful if Doorwin would come up with a form for customers to fill out, that indicated what the window size would be and the opening needs to be for said size like here in the states they tell you reduce 1/2 inch up front. Our major error in shop drawings was Doorwin took the window sizes from our plan and added 3/4 inch to height and width for each window opening to accommodate their window. I had to have them reduce the opening size by 3/4 inch to make sure the windows would fit in the openings that are already framed.
This is great. I am planning to replace the old sliding door overlooking the backyard with the french style in-swing door. Can you make a tutorial on how you made sure the measurements are right and some of the pitfalls in the process.
I am having exactly the same problem with Doorwin. A 3080 door for Doorwin is a rough opening of 3ft by 8 ft. not a door 3ft by 8 ft.
Stay on top of them. Be persistent.
Thanks, mine Doorwin windows and doors are coming this month. Your video is really helpful!!
Good tips, I use a hairdryer on low for 20 seconds to fix my back draft .
how many nm tightening oil sump cap screw?
I do not recall. Maybe I put it in the description in the video?
I’m really glad they have the band instead of the flashing now
I don’t think it makes a difference. I’ve shot a hose with water with the flashing while I had exposure to the back to see if anything leaked and it was bone dry. I might actually do a video on that again in my new construction build. Both systems work. Remember, flashing is/was an optional step with the tile redi base. The biggest leak point on any base is usually in the corners where floor meets wall or at the drain. The Tile Redi base alleviates both issues since the drain is a pvc connection and the pan itself has about 2-5” of a solid ABS corner that’s molded into the base. The band is def a nice option for corners, but I use strait flex because it’s way cheaper. 😂.
too expensive for residential construction imo. Walls alone are 65k..... still have everything else that needs to be done.
Much appreciated!
I’m so glad I watched your video first! I’m installing mine in an old house, and it is not a perfect situation at all! I’m halfway through the project, and the 4” to 3” adapter I bought from HD doesn’t fit into the existing 3” duct. Maybe the old duct was a slightly different size. I don’t know. I’m going to see if a new piece of 3” duct will fit onto the adapter. If so, I’ll just foil tape some new 3” duct over the end of my original 3” duct and go from there. Fingers crossed! 🤞🏽
Excellent video
My 1500 high-top 2.0 gas, driving on Chicago highways has recorded an honest 26 mpg on regular gasoline. Loaded with 3000 plus lbs it was around 23. Flat towing a type 1 VW cross country it ranges between 19 - 22 depending on speed / hills.
Great video! Thanks!
Complete BS information - K, L, & M copper have the same outer diameter (0.875). It's the inner diameter that's different. Propress is rated for all 3 copper diameters. Most likely, incorrect installation or as another mentioned - wrong fitting used (yellow dot at 1:28).
This boy does not know what he is doing. Silicone on edges of board and corners is big no no. It will fail in few years. Read backer board and Tile Redi recommendations - polyurethane based sealant only . ( called RediSealant by manufacturer , but it is same sealant GoBoard uses )
Tile redi literally says silicone per its directions. 😂. Please stop. Also, the redi flash is an option that’s just an extra step. Tile redi says you can use silicone at the top of their ABS base and have the substrate sit on it. The new redi panels comes with the poly caulk, but if you read directions for the past 10 years pre redi board, it specially says silicone. I have had many conservations with the tile redi engineer over the years. Who’s your contact there? Let me know so I can validate your claims.
Fluidmaster should have one or two extra rings of different thicknesses to get the seal just right.
I agree. Totally.
Congratulations on your stupidest beautiful roof! Actually been there in just about everything in my life, totally normal.
