😂😂😂 one of the main issue that "most" of the world (as the vast majority of the world population reside closer to the equator) has against food in the UK or any food from northern countries, is the lack of "exotic" ingredients. Have you ever noticed that uk, Scandinavian countries, Russian, northern canada, Mongolia & inner Mongolia have never been recognized as offering world renowned dishes/foods. While all have distinctive specialities, their common cooking styles is arguably their strength. They all have amazing stews, roasted meats and their variety of salted fish. As a professional consultant in the food industry possessing various culinary (trades) specialities. To fully appreciate the distinctiveness is to also understand why these habits where necessary. I don't know where you come from in china but the similarities are uncanny to europe. Food from Jiangxi, Guangdong , Shenzhen and Fujian are similar in cooking styles as the south of Europe and the north Xinjiang, inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning and northern parts of Gansu & heibei share similar type of dishes with the north of europe. Of course the fact that most of northern china is land locked removes many fish/seafood similar dishes. As i said, alongside all the various stews available there is that one dish that is pervasive in all of these northern jurisdictions. While it's name will change and it's vessel...we all know it as a meat pie. In China, its a Xian bing, in 🇲🇶🇨🇦 Québec Canada, (where i originate) we call it a tourtière/pâté à la viande/cipaille (English loan word of sea pie) and our meat only cipate. spicetrekkers.com/recipes/quebec-cipate One of the main reason why our foods are marvelous is most require long cooking period, thus including, bone marrow, cartilage and umami rich ingredients such as tomato (paste), garlic, peas and mushrooms.

I come from the middle of China , we eat wheaten food ( noodles and steamed bun ) lots including what you mentioned all kinds of Pies . could I ask one question: are bones and fats ,skins of the animal ok to eat ? As I know , they are not good for health , In China we eat lots , but these years I have been influence by my husband , I stopped to eat them for years .
@AmysAngle may I assume you are originally from Xi'an China? Or in the vicinity? As it is renowned for it's noodles and so many other (wheat) things. Everything is fine if you keep it within "reason". I myself eat liver, brain, tongue, "Prairie oysters" (testicules), kidney, heart (adore chicken hearts), intestines, sheep lung's (as the Scott's use for Haggis). Moderation is always best, one or two portions per week as for offals, pork belly while being tender (fattier vs protein) and full of heart healthy fatty acids and omega 3s is high it is naturally high in saturated fats, high in calories. I always recommend people to go for the mid range cut aka the shoulder. If chicken or duck feet are things you enjoy, just continue they provide exclusively good things, duck tongues are also great food ingredients as cow/pig tongues (as they are extremely lean). This might surprise you but growing up in Canada, I have had the opportunity to enjoy several delicacies (which are banned or not well perceived around the world). It was quite common to purchase dog meat at the butchers until it's ban (from resale) in 1995. What most don't realize is while it may illegal to purchase to eat, it is still legal to raise and eat. There is only one type of meat which is illegal to eat here (gov't regulations) is human. Everything else is authorized. We are legally privileged (by our govt) as we eat seal meat. The only natural meat that provides the highest % of protein than any other on the planet. Chicken breast is ~25gr/100gr of meat vs seal meat ~51gr/100gr. Before continuing to eat what you are used to, I recommend that a general health evaluation is taken as to not cause more problems over time.
Next time you come to the uk you need to come to Scotland, and try our food, we have the Scottish breakfast, square sausage, Haggis ant tunock tea cakes to name a few, if you like English food you'll like Scottish food.
