so many people worry about not remembering the books they read but they’re looking at it wrong. it’s not about remembering all the books you’ve read, it’s how they alter you. you’re not gonna remember all the food you’ve ever ate but nonetheless it has made you, it applies to books as well

It's a gorgeously animated tale of two brothers lost in the woods and their adventures trying to get back home. Seeing Machado's face in your book, knowing that you are about to read it, is amazing! So Cool!
I live in Rio for almost two years now, and Machado's books are also a great context of a time and place: Brazil in general, but more specifically the city of Rio in the 19h century, at the time the capital of the Empire of Brazil, the court.
It is really cool to read about the place you are living in (obviously very different now hahaha)
But his books touch on a universal subject, which connects us all: The human condition, which is tragic and a little bit comical.
    Enjoy 😭😁👏👏👏👏

I'm not sure if you've read or encountered it, but I read Han Kang's novel Human Acts last year and was stunned by it. It's experimental in form and often times feels almost like a work of memoir, and I found her going places with her writing that I hadn't experienced in any of my reading before. How did you like the Impossible Wopper? I was surprised by how good it was.
I'm so sorry to hear you got a concussion and are still dealing with after affects. Take care of yourself

I cannot wait to read the next Legendborn book. Do you have a strong opinion on the tendency for YA fantasy books to consist of extremely good-looking characters? Or does that not bother you too much b/c they are escapist stories and the point would be to have too many gorgeous people in them?

I want to recommend you a book - “The Grey House” by Mariam Petrosyan , one of my favourites. It’s by a Soviet/Armenian writer, and I don’t have enough words do describe the book properly, you just have to see it yourself🤍 btw it was translated to English (I read it in original, Russian) I can’t tell but I think it’s still that good 😌

Can anyone help explain why post concussion syndrome makes it difficult for Emmie to watch movies? Just genuinely curious as I’m not familiar with that condition
