You know NRS screwed up when a 25 year old game is higher than their own which came out almost a year ago.

@@intellectic9155no and I don’t really know much about it other than the original release when it dropped on the ps3 in 2012. Before it had any fan base and before they apparently booted the head guy. Back at the time, it looked cool. But I didn’t try it.
I was very surprised when I heard a couple of weeks ago that MK1 was even going to be at EVO! But the bad results are a reflection of this game
these people KNEW the game was trash. some even got paid to test it and DIDNT SAY ANYTHING. most people before LAUNCH didnt get a test code to try it out. Tons of us started giving negative feedback on launch. and no one listened, instead they attacked us. fast forward and now they are complaining.... and expect people to support THEM and still have hope with the future of the game. MK1 is a lost cause, and I let go of it because there is no hope for the game.

It started in 9, when they re-wrote the original trilogy and had Sindel destroy everyone at once, some female empowered b.s. Then in X, even though it was good gameplay, had Cassie Cage be the star of the story mode, with her obvious lesbian looking design. Mk11 Kitana solos Kahn, diversity, blah, blah. blah. Fucking pathetic.
NetherRealm should be scarred, they are at risk of not even making the EVO 2025 list after SNK drops Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves next year. SNK is also doing the slash and burn to move their franchises forward. NetherRealm has to clean house, get rid of the has-been players and yes-men or the franchise dies.
ironically when games were made for fun with no pro play in mind, people wanted to compete with each other because the game was FUN! were they all mega balanced? no but they were fun to play.

I really appreciate your honesty and your love for the franchise. I’m a hardcore Mortal Kombat fan and I used to be proud on how much care they took when crafting the lore and the characters. Now it just feels half baked and gouging which is insulting to long time fans like us. I hope they eliminate this cash grab mentality and get back to what made MK great!

i remember checking the steamcharts like a month after mk1 release, and mk11 had nearly overtaken it in terms of active players. people were bouncing off of that game crazy quick.

I saw the writing on the wall with MK11 , I didnt buy MK1. MK11 is the last decent MK game I think we are going to see for a long time if ever.

Man...AAA video games companies these days.. they aren't sure if they want to sell social politics as the product or video games.

I also have been a fan since the original, purchased and played every MK up until MK1. The wokeness was seeping in before MK11, but yeah, I also had seen enough to know the next one wasn't gonna made for me.
I believe Boon has posted and expressed left wing politics on social media, Twitter and the like. So he does share those views. Conveniently, it falls within WB's production agendas, so it's not changing until they do.
It is painfully obvious that it's not happening to just MK, Star Wars, D&D, and countless IPs. This stuff just isn't made for us anymore, we gotta enjoy what came before and let it go. The normies can have it.

Its so interesting to me how ArcSys seems to have figured out the formula for mainstreaming their franchises. Both GGST and GBVSR managed to grow the player base substantially over previous iterations, and both did it by moving towards the current aggressive/neutral skipping, more accessible style of fighting games. A move which all the franchises have embraced to varying degrees of success. I also find it interesting that GGST is so thoroughly villified among the FGC super soldiers for successfully streamlining Guilty Gear system mechanics and drastically broadening brand appeal. When I go back to play Rev 2 for nostalgia, I get frustrated by the wild intracacies and inconsistencies. A lot of stuff is very matchup specific and requires a TON of experience to learn and re-learn. I do not feel joy or accomplishment in how hard Rev 2 is to play competently. It feels like a lot of very stressful work without any signifigant pay out. Especially when you just get insta-killed after breaking your fingers pulling off complex air dust combos.
70% who play say " The game is fun" but the numbers at Evo say otherwise for the most sold FG out of all them. People rather play a 90s game than a 2024 one 😂
NRS focusing on the "pro players" over the casuals pay off with not even 1k entrants at the biggest tournament event and the game is still on his first year

Its kof xv 3rd year so it was expected to have low numbers. Still, if they had release season 3 sooner because everyone is saying that season 3 is going to be shown on evo it might gotten more people.
